The Dark Knight Joker Hype!

Rachel in trouble again? Are you sure that's Rachel?
Looks so mannish and old to me.

I want this movie more on Batman not the Joker.

1. Maggie Gyllenhaal looks great. I do find it funny when comic fanboys call her ugly, as if most of us on here could do better.

2. This will still be Batman's movie. But of course The Joker is going to steal the show. And of course the character is going to get plenty of marketing, he's the new selling-point for this film.

Thoughts?

:csad: so sad to see this ugly Joker! :csad:

He looks more beautiful than any woman I've ever seen....

Allright, I take that back.

He looks pretty ****ing fantastic though. Creepy as hell.

I'm very happy overall with his appearence, 'cept for those girlish curls around his ears.

all in good time, they'll probably show him smiling next week at Wizard World

There's a question. Are we supposed to be getting anything other than a panel at Wizard World?

I think we all assume they will show footage, but that is all baseless at this point.

but hopefully *crosses fingers*

then someone can bootleg it

Either way, the Panel will reveal something. Either footage or just the cast and crew talking about the film. We'll definitely know more about this film by the time WW is over.

Definately

God I can't wait :csad:

I wait patiently. I can't really judge Heath's Joker based on a few pics and a brief dialogue from the non-footage teaser. I caught Batman '89 playing on tv a few days ago. Haven't seen it in years. Nicholson was a great Joker...for Burton's Batman world. But this is Nolan, and who wants to see Heath attempt to emulate NIcholson's Joker? that would be a waste of time, the way Spacey semi-emulated Hackman's Luthor....very sad. I've seen Jack's Joker, I don't want to see it again. Who really wants to? I'll just wait patiently for the next official released footage or trailer. At the beginning with all the casting rumors I was against Heath, I was still waiting for some unknown actor to be announced, preferably someone older. Now I have no choice since Heath is cast. So I'm hoping he will impress with his take on Joker the way Cillian impressed with his Scarecrow. We can't do anything now but wait until the movie comes out. I'm hoping for the best though.

I can somewhat sympathise with your initial reaction. I was shocked at the casting of Heath Ledger as The Joker. He wasn't on my shortlist for the role, hell, I'd never even thought of him for the role. I mean, I understood that he is a talented actor, but...The Joker? I just couldn't envision it. But the more we've seen of his Joker, and the more we've heard about his performance, the happier I am with Nolan's choice. I think Heath Ledger is going to blow us away, and knock his take on The Joker right outta the park.

Here's what I said on this topic of "unconventional casting" over on the spoiler boards:

I think Heath Ledger was cast BECAUSE he wasn't an "obvious choice". Nolan somehow managed to pinpoint somebody that NOBODY had speculated for the part, and since just about everyone in Hollywood was suggested on this site at one point or another, that's quite an achievement.

He clearly saw something in Ledger that he thought could translate perfectly to The Joker he had in mind for "The Dark Knight". A younger, darker, more dangerous Joker than we've seen on film before. And importantly, Heath Ledger has never, to my knowledge, played a Joker-like character, or even a villain. So this is new territory for Ledger too, meaning his performance will be fresh and exciting for him (and hopefully us), rather than just the retreading of familiar ground.

For those who missed it, here's what Christian Bale had to say about The Joker in Total Film magazine:

But the main attraction is a villain whose "taste for theatrics" was so memorably portrayed by Jack Nicholson in Tim Burton's Batman. The Joker is back. And it's no laughing matter.

"It's a much more anarchic, punk rock, almost junkie version of it," says Bale, f Heath Ledger's disturbing take on Batman's deadliest foe. "He's the kind of psycho kid that just will do anything and has absolutely no conscience and morals - I think they've done a real nice job with his look. It's certainly a whole lot more dangerous; there's a bit of Clockwork Orange there, a bit of Sid Vicious, a whole lot of great, anarchic personalities blended within The Joker."

I said The Joker was like a rockstar.:o

The Crow thing's so old. And the resemblance is little more than passing.
