Alright, so I was talking to a friend of mine who just graduated from my high school. In the past, he's auditioned and gotten parts in our school play using various monologues he's found. This year, I plan to audition for the school play, also. I'd liked to do a Joker monologue, believe it or not. I was thinking of compiling a group of his lines making a medley out of 'em, thus creating a cool different scene. I haven't decided if I am going to look at the casters or just act as if someone is there (probably the latter). Here's one I came up with:

So, tell us your name. Brian. Well, Brian, are you the real batman? No? Then why do you dress like him! *waving mask and laughing* What? You don't have to fear me? Well, you do, Brian. You really do. No, don't look away, look at me. Look at me. LOOK AT ME. Do you wanna know how I got these scars? *Wife story (excluding "beautiful, like you")* I don't think you believe that one. Well, here's another. After all, if I'm going to have a past, I'd prefer it to be multiple choice! *Father story*

There ya have it. Very rough draft. I'd like thoughts but most of all. If you can write a better one, do it!

I'm an actor, and if you plan to do that you really should see if they would allow you to have someone sit in as Brian. All he has to do is say Brian and it would add so much more to it. Trust me.

Hey man, I can really dig your idea there. I agree with Veneficus too, if you're going to do a monologue, it would add to the effect if someone were there. But since you're doing it for theater and you would be speaking as if to a crowd, this is just my OPINION, and I would use a female assistant instead, and I would do something like this...

*Walk on stage*
Good evening ladies and gentlemen! I am tonight's...entertainment. *Sees the girl* Oh, well, hello beautiful...*brush the hair back, they'll get a kick out of that*...hi *from the hospital scene*...you look nervous, is it the scars? Wanna know how I got em? (Wife story), (laugh) I'm not gonna kill you, no, no, no, you complete...ME! But I tell you what, how about a magic trick?

Perhaps? Once again just my opinion and definitely think its awesome you're going to use that character. Good luck either way!

Thanks for the replies. See, I told that same friend about having someone sit in as Brian. All he said was as long as Brian doesn't react at all simply because it is YOUR audition and not a group thing. But yeah, I really wanna work on that monologue because I kinda like where it's going. Also, for an audition for a play, are you allowed to have another person as a "prop" such as Brian during the audition? I don't really know.

I don't know if you still need help with it, but I composed a monologue myself through his line from the new movie and stuff like The Killing Joke.

Here is a link of the performance.

Is not all that great, but should help you out a bit.
