I really hope the news of him rewriting Cap is true, and that its more than just a polish.

My Cap hope has diminished in light of this Whedon news. Ah well, at least he's not directing it.

you want to see Cap singing and dancing????:csad:

That one line just gets you, doesn't it? I seriously doubt it's what you think. He's there as a morale booster.

My hope in Cap wasnt too high to begin with...and has nothing to do with the cast and everything to do with the director.

the director says "He is on stage singing and dancing". If I am wrong I am wrong but I am going by what the director said. Those are his exact words. I created a whole thread on it.

The director is what I love about the Cap movie the most.

Knowing Joss Whedon's love for musicals, the USO scene will probably be expanded into a full musical number, with a special appearance by Neil Patrick Harris.

Wait... what? Now Whedon is rewriting the Cap script?

Get the **** outta here...

**** this ****, **** it up the ****ing ass. ****. ****ity **** the ****s. **** boo****.

Thank **** we got Thor made by a guy who suits the ****ing character.

Hehehehe, and before JJ was probably just meaning that Cap would be on stage with dancing girls and whatnot who are doing their routine.

I just hope Whedon realizes his audience is different this time.

These films are for the fans of the comic characters, so there shouldn't be any inside jokes or pandering for his Whedonite fanbase.

He said he was on stage singing and dancing. I dont see how we have to read into it or feel JJ doesnt know how to express himself. He didnt say he was on stage with girls who sing and dance. He didnt say he was up there giving a motivational speach to the troops. He is up there singing and dancing is what he said.

yes, because cap joining the rockets is much better than cap singing and dancing on his own:oldrazz:

also, what about jj excited you? was it his sketchy track record, underwheming style, or his unfamliarity with the character?
yes, i'm being facetious, but in all seriousness why did jj excite you?

Ohhh you bet your arse there will be.

He was probably joking.

You think he seriously meant Cap would be up on stage dancing around like some kind of ****?

"So they say, ‘You’re going to be in this USO show’ and they give him a flag suit.” … “So he’s up on stage doing songs and dances with chorus girls and he can’t wait to get out and really fight."

this is the exact quote. Does that seem like a random comment or a plot point for the film???

Well maybe that's showing how the government wants to use him(i don't think he mean Cap himself will actually be dancing, just up on stage with em)... but Steve heavily resents it and is embarrassed by it.

I think that could be a pretty good way to convey what Cap is REALLY about actually. **** all the USO show boo****. I'm a soldier.

I hope to God they don't let Joss have a go at Iron Man 3 as well.

I don't know why they would, but then again I don't know why they would let him rewrite a film he isn't even a part of.

and you dont think that trying to join the army willing to be experiemented on would convey that???

It's not his choice though. He still has to follow orders. He is ordered to do the USO show. The government wants to use him as a propaganda tool just as much as a super soldier. But deep down, he ****ing hates it and is embarassed to be part of it. That's what the REAL Cap is. He doesn't give a toss about propaganda.

As long as that is shown, i don't see the problem.

Tell me how you really feel, Ace. :o

I'm willing to give Whedon a chance. Its not a terrible pick, and its not even a bad one. It doesn't excite me as much as Matthew Vaughn or JJ Abrams (who obviously was never going to consider the Avengers because of Star Trek).

I believe he can do a great job with the Avengers from his body of work, but since I never watched anything Whedon (other than Toy Story), I'll reserve judgement until the trailer. To be honest, I kinda like that he's rewriting both Captain America and the Avengers. It tells me that he's gonna respect the continuity of the films and mesh the characters together well. Plus, with all the talk about fans wanting the films to respect the source material, and wanting a comic book feel, I wonder why so many people are pissed that other people are mentioning that he's a comic book writer. I was given a few issues of his X-men run by a friend today, and its not bad.

Why are people so angry over him? I get the feeling that he's gonna respect the source material, and can characterize characters. I understand he makes great female characters, but that should be just another plus. I figured it would be a good thing that a comic book writer was help rewrite Cap and the Avengers films.

Without anyone flaming, can someone please explain to me why Joss Whedon is so hated? I just want a good clean explanation.
