it sounds like a rough idea of what they're planing, not in any way definite. look i hate that jj's doing this movie as much as anyone, but you can't hold onto something said that early in the process as something that will be verbatim in the film. movies change drastically everyday until they're released, as evidenced by this re-write by whedon (see what i did there,) chill man.

Without anyone flaming, can someone please explain to me why Joss Whedon is so hated? I just want a good clean explanation.

I don't hate him. Hell, I'm a fan of his. But he has a specific recognizable style of writing that I don't see working in an Avengers or Captain America film.

I may be a fan of his other work, but I am unwavering in my position that he shouldn't be involved in these films at all.

It's not his choice though. He still has to follow orders. He is ordered to do the USO show. The government wants to use him as a propaganda tool just as much as a super soldier. But deep down, he ****ing hates it and is embarassed to be part of it. That's what the REAL Cap is. He doesn't give a toss about propaganda.

As long as that is shown, i don't see the problem.

We may completely disagree on Whedon, Ace, but ITA about the USO idea. I like it.

couldn't that be the point of it though? as i suspect the character would be embarrassed mayhaps the scene would be designed to create the same reaction in the audience

no, he's not. watch some for yourself and make up your own mind. i can't recommend angel season 5 enough (though you will need to do some background) and firefly is really good.

Its supposed to be a stupid idea concocted by the government and Rogers hates the idea. He trains to be a soldier only to be put in a USO show instead of the war? Have just noticed folk talking about Joss doing a Cap re-write too? excellent...Joss Whedon will save the Marvel Universe, lol. Love it!
Finally, a guy who gets the characters and mechanics of superheroes will be injecting greatness into this shared universe, and we might get something more than the usual thing, which lets be honest, TIH and Iron-Man were, IM was elevated dramatically by RdJr's performance, and TIH, although very enjoyable was let down by quite crappy CGI and a absolutely fricking awful end battle.
Now, we will get the kind of developed interactions and surprises you get from great comics, instead of following the formula of all the superhero movies up until now. Thank god for that, some fresh blood and long term planning coming to the table, Marvel know *exactly* what they are doing, it needed a strong voice like this in the shared universe concept, to bring it all together in a way that feels organic and full of surprises, instead of just a bunch of action movies being linked up, the best news this concept could have had.
