PC Gamer - BioShock creator Ken Levine's next game is called Judas, 'coming soon'

After at least five years in development, Levine's studio has shown off its next game.

Vitalthrills - Judas First Look From Ghost Story Games
A disintegrating starship. A desperate escape plan.

You are the mysterious and troubled Judas. Your only hope for survival is to make or break alliances with your worst enemies. Will you work together to fix what you broke – or will you leave it to burn?
“We founded Ghost Story Games to build upon the legacy of System Shock 2, BioShock, and BioShock Infinite,” said Ken Levine, President & Creative Director.

“With Judas, we’ve created an entirely new world and set of characters while exploring different approaches to single-player, narrative first-person shooters.”
Ghost Story Games was founded by Ken Levine (Creative Director of System Shock 2, BioShock, BioShock Infinite) and former Irrational Games developers. The studio’s mission is to create narrative-driven experiences rooted in immersive world building and gameplay.

Their passion and pedigree have resulted in genre-defining experiences for more than 25 years.
Ghost Story Games is deep in development on Judas and will self-publish the game. More information will be made available in the future. Players can add the game to their Wishlist on Steam and the Epic Games Store starting today.

Ghost Story Games is a studio and self-published label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc.

BioShock spiritual successor (like Bloodstained is to Castlevania) in Outer Space? Sure why not. I was a big fan of the BioShocks.

I like the reveal. Quite up for something like this after a big gap.

I'm glad the visuals are stylized instead of going for the attempts at sheer photorealism other games go for. In time it's the stylization and art direction that also makes those games look less dated than the photoreal attempts in the future.

If this has the same plot twist as System Shock 2 and BioShock...

My headcanon is that it’s a stealth bioshock game

“Explore the corridors of the Mayflower, a spacefaring city whose citizens are trained to spy on one another and tear each other apart for the slightest offense,” a synopsis reads.

“Where machines control every aspect of business, art, and government. The ship’s leaders tried to turn you into something you’re not: a model citizen. And you sparked a devastating revolution to tear it all down.

“Do you want to fix what you broke or leave it all to burn? That’s a decision only you can make.”

Well hopefully the story goes somewhere better than this kind of whiny premise like ol’ Ken spends too much time on the internet.

THIS. It's still baffling how much praise Bioshock gets for its writing to this day.

It's like "uhhh this is just SS2, guys. Let's tone down the hyperbole."

This looks decent. Hopefully the actual game part of it doesn't suck.
