During an interview with the good folks over at CHUD regarding ADVENTURELAND, star Bill Hader revealed some huge news that both he and Saturday Night Live writer Simon Rich have written a slasher movie for Judd Apatow! "It's partially Straw Dogs meets Halloween meets Home Alone meets Monster Squad," Hader tells CHUD explaining that the film is a horror comedy. You can read more about the project by clicking the link above, but we can only hope that the movie is better than Broken Lizard's CLUB DREAD.

Sorry if its been posted I looked on the last two pages didn't see anything.

I was talking about this with someone better about him making or producing a horror/comedy.

Bill Hader is a funny guy.

Good. Apatow already produced an action comedy with Pineapple Express, which was great, so I'd love an Apatow produced Horror/slasher comedy.

Yeah, I be interested in it also. They always seem to get a vary of diffeent people besides the usuall Apatow Regulars.

It's gonna seem derivative of Shaun of the Dead and other british comedy/horror flicks to some.

I wrote this on slash film,

but I love it when there's a nice variety of opinions when it comes a movie or whatever. But anytime (NOW) there's an article on Jud Apatow, Seth Rogan, Michael Cera or whomever, there's a title wave of just blind bashing. Mind you, Judd Apatow movies are well liked and are well recieved. They are over exposed for sure (and who isn't), but is the internet getting carried away now?

People overreacting is just internet people with too much time on their hands. For some reason people get it in their heads, that they need to see every single horror movie out, even if they don't wanna. just so that can complain about it, after seeing it.

or they want something to fail. Or they already made up their mind and you can't change their way of thinking. stuff like that.

I know like how alot of people base their opinions on the whole upon seeing one still from a movie.

i think everyone does it to a certain degree. If Brett Ratner says that he's going to direct the next Star Wars films, I'm not going say 'yah'. But I think i've got good enough taste to make my point without belittling anyone else on the board.

Don't quite know how I feel about this. His movies are usually hit or miss for me. But I like the Halloween/Monster Squad combo for inspiration; I don't like Home Alone as a partial inspiration for a horror, and I don't think I've ever seen Straw Dogs.

Im in for the Monster Squad name drop alone.

Same here. I read that and just the thought of something by Apatow in the vein of Monster Squad gets me hooked. Grew up on the Squad and still pop that dvd in have a good time watching it. "Wolfman has nards!" haha

Apatow's great at producing films and coming up with something people will enjoy watching. So a horror/comedy could be a good thing. It alone sounds better than any of the Scary Movies'. So I'll give this a chance and see what rises to the surface with this.

Home Alone, Straw Dogs, Halloween and MONSTER SQUAD?! A bunch of my favorite movies ever(except Halloween...i think it's alright). For that alone, i'm interested. I don't know how Monster Squad could be related to a slasher film, unless there are a bunch of kids who take on a crazed murderer from some of their favorite movies(Like Mike Myers or something). Regardless, just dropping a reference to "Monster Squad" has sparked an interest. I'll check this out.

is this a straight up horror film or a horror/comedy hybrid? If it's the latter, then I fully support this movie.

Is it just me or does Hader look like a young skinny Dan Ackroyd?

This sounds very interesting. I like the combinations and the sound of it.

I've thought the same thing before. When I watch SNL and see Hader, I think "he's the next Dan Ackroyd". I defintly thought that a week or so ago when Hader did a 'sales man' skit that was completly Ackroyd inspired.
