Not a fan of Woody Allen.
Let me paraphrase, I don't like comedies that try too hard to be serious and I don't like dramas that try too hard to have comedy. It just doesn't mesh well and most of the time, it feels forced either way. I am sure there are directors that have done it but there is a reason why we don't see a ton of dramatic comedies or comedic dramas...however you say it or whatever genre name it has. Why? Because both take you away from the other. You are laughing your butt off at the funny moments and then it shifts to a serious tone. Or, you are feeling for the character's struggles and life pains and then people are making penis, fart, or sex jokes. It just doesn't mesh well.
did you not see In Bruges it did this very well
