Captain Marvel Jude Law IS ????

Potentially big spoilers.

Jude Law is apparently playing Yon-Rogg???

Guessing that's why the Marvel Legends figure called him "Starforce Commander" and not Mar-Vell.

I would say so, yeah.

I was starting to feel like that theory was correct recently.
So if he is Yon-Rogg, the fan theory that Mar-Vell is Carol's adopted Kree name I think is likely.

Yeah I was just thinking that
It does make some sense that if she is going to be the only Captain Marvel in the MCU, her kree name could def be Mar-vell... the "Car-ell" thing from the recent comics is both a misdirect, and the closest approximation the comics can make since there was already a Mar-vell in the 616

I don't love it, feels a bit disrespectful to fans of the comics character, but I get why they'd choose to streamline it for the movies

Huge spoiler!
”Goose”?!? No Chewie?!? This movie will flop!

But based off the other Funko figures, her Kree name is Vers.

I am sure it’s derived from Danvers somehow. That sounds as likely a scenario as any.

Is it really any worse than Mar-Vell?

I hope we get see to a bit more of Jude Law in the trailer and Mar-Vell's background.

We finally got some lines from Law. Intrigued with his line about her not being as powerful as she thinks since it could be him either encouraging her or telling her to know her place.

I'm on the suit being part of some method of regulating her abilities. At the start of the film she's not as powerful or in control as we normally think of her. The red and blue suit will act in a way to amp her power and control. That's just me spit balling but I think it makes sense.

I do think I'm on board with the idea of the red and blue suit somehow being less restricting of her abilities. They only seem fully "unlocked" when she's wearing it. I'm just wondering how/why she'll get it. Clearly the Kree want to keep her power in check, so why would they even present that option?

I leaning towards the Kree themselves having an infiltration problem, meaning the Skrulls might have some part in Carol's origin as well.

Oooh, I would like that!

I think they would be foolish NOT to take advantage of a story that includes elements like shape shifters and false memories without throwing us some big curveballs somewhere along the way.

Plus, I still think there's a longer arc at play so Carol could be part of the Skrulls figuring out how to graft powers onto their own genetics.

After seeing the trailer, I’m even more certain he’s Yon-Rogg. It’s exciting to think there may be a cool new marvel villain to join the pantheon, as in newly well known not new

Based on the implied story, it seems like Law's character, Benning's character, and Ronan could all be potential Kree villains to Carol.

Law and Ronan sure, but I still reckon Benning is her mum/mentor

What make you so certain? What in the trailer does he do or say makes you believe this? I'm curious.

This may be a big spoiler, FYI:
You saw the thing with the Funko's, right? He's definitely Yon-Rogg. I don't even know if it's supposed to be any kind of secret within the film, hence me changing the thread title, but his Funko Pop figure is named Yon-Rogg.

Well... I clicked on your spoiler so I deserved to be spoiled.

Nah, I didn't know about the Funko thing. C'est la vie.

I think this is going to be awkward for discussions dancing around even the character's name.

Based on the new promo art, Law is being referred to as Mar-Vell, which means the Funko Pop for Yon-Rogg is likely another character altogether.
