Captain Marvel Jude Law IS ????

I want someone who seems like he could've been the big hero of his own movie for Mar-Vell. Get a typical leading man, but then have him kick the bucket. It could be like Executive Decision where Steven Segal looked like the main action hero but he died and left the mission in the hands of Kurt Russell.

I'd rather Mar-Vell have more of a Michael Douglas as Hank Pym kind of role. Kind of a guide to Carol about her powers and the Kree and the Captain Marvel name. You can kill him off at the end but I think killing him off at the beginning would be a mistake because he has info that Carol needs to know.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

I really like this choice. I also feel like Taylor Kitsch would be a good Mar-Vell. Regardless, whoever plays him is going to wind up dead before the third act starts. The whole point of the character is to die so Carol gets her origin story and his daughter Phyla has a long-lost father with an impossible legacy to live up to once Guardians 3 hits.

He needs to be like Obi-Wan in Episode 4. He guides Carol until the villain kills him off and Carol is left to her own devices. I'd also have him reveal early on that he's dying of a terminal illness and then finally sacrifice himself for the good of the Kree.

And the Xandarians need to completely cheat the Kree at the end and side with the Skrulls, leading Ronan down a dark path where he seeks revenge on the Nova Corps.

Ryan Gosling or Chris Pine

The shock of Executive Decision is that you honestly thought Segal was gonna be the hero before he died and Kurt Russell had to take over. There's no way Marvel isn't gonna have Carol Danvers' face plastered everywhere in the lead up to the movie.

You could still have a similar dynamic with Mar-Vell but it probably wouldn't be as effective a twist.

You know who I've been dying to see join the marvel u? Richard Gere.

Maybe they could have an older captain marvel and have a father figure instead of a Bae figure?

Dang... That's pretty good. Especially for what you are proposing as a mentor figure.

Jude Law is in negotiations to play the male lead opposite Brie Larson in Marvel’s “Captain Marvel,” sources tell Variety.

Ben Mendelsohn is on board to play the villain with “Half Nelson” helmers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directing. Kevin Feige is producing.

Marvel had no comment.

Geneva Robertson-Dworet wrote the most recent script with “Inside Out” scribe Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman penning previous drafts, which follows Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident. The resulting alteration imbues her with the superpowers of strength, energy projection, and flight.

Law will be playing Doctor Walter Lawson, a.k.a. Mar-Vell, who becomes a mentor of sorts to Danvers as she tries to figure out her new powers.

Nice.

He was up for Killian for Iron Man 3. Dude's obviously talented. Don't see a downside

Great casting. I'm guessing Mar Vell is a semi-retired superhero in this storyline.

Which makes me want to see a 1960s/1970s pre-Avengers team (The Invaders?) led by Agent Carter, with Mar Vell, Pym, Janet, Namor, Shang Chi, and maybe a different Black Panther and the crazy Captain America.

That’s immediately what I thought. They also have Rachel McAdams from the movie too.

I knew they would include Mar-Vell in some capacity.

Jude Law is a life long comic fan and has been linked with a number of superhero roles before so it is cool to see him finally land one.

1. I'm guessing that he's a Kree soldier who's dying of a terminal illness. He'll presumably sacrifice himself to go out in a blaze of glory and join Ben Parker, Maria Castle and Jack Murdoch in the afterlife for characters who can't return without ruining the hero's origin story.

2. I want Shang Chi in the present.
