Jurassic Park IV - Part 1

I haven't watched the films in a while but wasn't it something to do with lysine? And then it was explained by Sarah in The Lost World as to how they were surviving.

As we saw in the first one. They're finding a way to survive so that isn't really a problem

The first movie is my favorite ever, and although there's a serious quality drop, I enjoy the sequels (I actually enjoy JP3 more than TLW because of how much Speilberg butchered the book, and overall was a average project for him.) But I hope we get something special with this one. I remember Johnston saying it would be alot different from the other three, so we'll see.

Time travel lol

That is not such a bad idea actually, not for the JP franchise, but just for a really good dinosaur adventure movie. I don't know of a serious good movie that has been made like that in the modern era(apart from King Kong). Why not?
I am always surprised by the enthusiasm for more JP movies, I think the first one is the only one worth watching really, because it had the new spin on people being trapped in an amusement park, it did not need sequels, although thre second one *could* have run more with the concept of Dinosaurs being unleashed in the civilian population, that would have been something to see with today's CGI.
So, yeah, no more of these trapped in an amusement park with dinos hurry we have to get to that door and shut it on it's face nonsense, let them fly/run loose in the city for the whole movie, or don't bother.

I want Goldblum back because I liked the way he said 'Dinosaurs'.

"D-D-DinoSawws".

screw it, just remake/reboot Jurassic Park. Spielberg's 1st Jurassic Park film is very, VERY good; but i would like something closer to the book. would be nice to focus more on the cloning process itself.

I have explained this in here before...dinosaurs running around a thriving metropolis is dumb and not scary at all. Dinosaurs in our world is not scary. The part where the Rex was running around San Diego was stupid. I do not want to see Raptors running around office buildings or backyards. What is scary is when we are in their element. Otherwise, SWAT helicopters or the Army would have been there asap and blasted those buggers to hell. It's just not scary. When you are walking around a forest a Rex or a Raptor pops out of the trees/bushes...that is scary.

They sort of had two stories going in The Lost World and blew their load. They could have had two movies from what they were trying to tell. I would have loved a movie alone where rich game hunters were taken onto the island to hunt dinosaurs. What bigger hunt than a Rex? Then you could have made a movie about scientists and hippies trying to save the animals from the government trying to eradicate them. Both provide ample terror to people we all want to see get eaten (hunters and hippies).

Funny how I completely disagree with every statement in this post :whatever: Except the part about no good movies about time travel, that is pretty spot on. That is, until you mention King Kong; What has King Kong to do with time travel?

haha, well, i think you know what I meant there, and are just trying to jump in with a little writing class there, yes, I was not particularly coherant with that sentence, but you know what I meant pal, Dinosaur adventures in general, of the non-JP variety, i was just bouncing off the time travel post but was thinking of dino adventures in general.

Well, i was thinking of that somewhat ominus shot at the end of one of the JP movies, I think it was at the end of the second one, where we saw Pterodactyls nesting, and I thought there was an implication that they might fly to the civilised mainland if their island got overpopulated.

But yes, you do have a point about the army taking care of the larger dinosaurs, although, y'know, they can still be creative about it if they want to. They had that notion in JP where the Dinos were more intelligent than they thought they would be, and so you could have Velociraptors using the sewers and what have you, gurella warfare style, while Pterodactyls are easily dodging bullets and missiles and swooping down on the populace.
While the army are taking care of the big ones, they fail to realise the threat the smaller Dinos pose until it is too late, y'know.

edit: and I think you could get just as much of a freaky scare out of a Velociraptor suddenly popping out in an everyday environment.

Forgive me but wasn't it stated in one of the films the Dinosaurs wouldn't be able to survive for very long due to some sort of chemical or protein that the scientist had to give them?

Life will find a way

The only problem with this is Roland Tembo was the only character I could root for in TLW.

Lol. When I was a kid, my granddad would call them "dyna-snorters" to get me riled up (like any self respecting 7 year old, I was a dinosaur fanatic).

Roland Tembo managed to top Muldoon in terms of badassery. And he wasn't even in the book.

YAY! Next year! I just hope it won't be too different from the first 3 films!

I expect the dinosaurs to be sporting feathers and lisps this time around.

Not really excited about this yet. I'll wait untill I hear a casting announcment.

The fact that Spielberg ditched Robopocalypse just two days ago, and for this movie to finally get a release date is no coincidence. I think Spielberg read the latest draft by Jaffa & Silver, loved it, and wanted to get going on JP4 instead.

Spielberg ain't taking a break, he's definitely vetting directors for JP4 now. He must have a short list, because he said he's going to redevelop Robopocalypse in March. He wants to get the director locked for JP4 and get pre-production going before going back to his pet project.
Will J.J. Abrams Direct The New 'Jurassic Park' Film?
Mark Hughes said:
News just broke of Universal’s announcement that Jurassic Park IV will open in theaters in June of 2014. Steven Spielberg will produce, and now everyone is anxiously awaiting word on who might direct and star in the film.

I’ll start the speculation rolling by suggesting J.J. Abrams might be high on Spielberg’s list of choices to helm the film. Abrams has obviously more than proven himself capable of handling a big effects-and-action driven franchise, and he has a working relationship with Spielberg. Abrams’ style also reflects influences from Spielberg, of course, so that would lend the film some added sense of continuity with some previous entries in the series as well.

Word of the new 3D dinosaur flick has sent the Internet into a frenzy this afternoon, and it’ll only get more intense in the coming days and weeks. A June 2014 release date is a pretty tight schedule to meet, so the studio will have to really fast-track the production, and that means we should hear additional news pretty soon.

Rupert Wyatt
is the other name that comes instantly to mind to possibly fill the director’s chair. His work on Rise of the Planet of the Apes was phenomenal and demonstrated a great ability to balance visual effects action with strong story and character development.

I’m sure more names will be tossed around as the media debates which filmmaker will get the job, but these two should be high on any short-list of nominees.

With a talent like JJ, I would rather have him direct orginal stuff in between Star Trek, like what he did with Super 8. That way he'll have a legacy and will be rememebered as a vsionary instead of being the filmmaker who is constantly saving/helping established franchises. Thats why I'm kinda happy he isn't doing Star Wars either.

I would be ecstatic for an Abrams JP movie.

Oh, I never thought of Abrams. I'd love to see him do it if he got chosen, but I'm content with him in just ST right now.

Rupert Wyatt just signed to direct an AMC pilot, Turn, about The Culper Ring so I would take him off the list. Plus he dropped out of doing the Apes sequel based on a short development/shooting period and JPIV has an even smaller window.
