Jurassic Park IV - Part 1

This is going to be JPIII all over again, rushing to meet a release date, writing the script on the set.

They might do a few minor rewrites during filming, but the current writers (Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver) have been working on the script since last summer. The script might not be rushed, but filming certainly will be.

If Spielberg wasn't promoting Lincoln around this time after he halted Robopocalypse, I'd swear he'd return for JP4. Or maybe he's doing the prep work for the movie, and then get a director to do the rest.

Yep, but the "heroes" actually took the ammo out of their guns (after they saved the heroes no less), which... was rather dickish.

Did they? I remember they took them out of the main hunters gun, but I didn't realise ALL of them. That IS dickish.

The Lost World is just an all around pretty bad film, especially the last half of it. the book is a 1,000 times better.

even Spielberg later on admitted that it wasn't his best work

Yeah the book is much better, but the 10-12 year old in me LOVED seeing the Rex attack San Diego. That's pretty much the saving grace for me.

I really don't see what the big problem with The Lost World is. As mentioned the book is waaaaaaaay better than the movie, but I didn't think the movie was terrible. It does drag a little and have a silly end and it's obviously no where near as good as the first one, but I way prefer it over JP 3. JP 3 is too silly for me, by the time the army shows up at the end I could hardly take it anymore.

Yeah, I liked the Lost World also, especially T-Rex running around the city.

It's T. rex.

I despise the movie. It sent the franchise into a nosedive it has yet to pull out of.

I'm rather amazed Spielberg produced such a thing.

I didn't mind The Lost World.

JP3 has some good moments, but I still don't care for it.

Well no, one is correct, and the others are wrong.

Actually, I have yet to meet someone who pronounced potato "po-ta-toe".

But I digress. The point is the second movie was awful. Not really sure why. They had a good director, and a decent book. Wrecked one of the most successful franchises of the 90's.

I didnt like Vince Vaughn's and Moore's characters at all. Ian's daughter was annoying too.

Are you guys positive that this movie will go forward?
Personally, I'm fine with what we have. I have no idea what else they can do that has not been done before. I haven't read the books, though. This has been a rumor for as long as I remember.

Gawd, they need to continue. I need more dinosaurs! Just take a ques from Avatar; make the film about adventure and amazing visuals, not action. (That is, except the overly dramatic and qlichéd military in Avatar, that we can do without.)

I've said it before, but THIS is what Jurassic Park is about, THIS is where the franchise's value lies:

We don't know much, but I'd figure they'd be more dangerous than the big cats of today. A lion rampaging through NYC or the suburbs could cause a hell of a lot of trouble. So imagine a lion 10x more powerful, the results would be catastrophic.

A lion in NYC would be sedated by cops or animal handlers in a matter of minutes, or shot if the situation called for it. And "a lion 10x more powerful" just confirms the delusion that prehistoric animals were some kind of video game-ish monsters. They were not.

I'm pretty sure it will. The original JP started filming in August 1992, less than a year before its release date.

And right now, JP4 is the only summer tentpole Universal Pictures has scheduled for 2014. So it's a high priority for them now.

I still say they just need to make direct adaptations of the books for the next movies. They're different enough from the movies to justify it.

i don't see the point. I want to move forward not backwards.

Truth be told, Universal's release date and the 'search for the director' marks how Hollywood has truly changed: To paraphase a recent comment I read on twitter (I forgot who said it.): "Hollywood no longer makes movies. They make release dates."

Look at Universal's struggle with The Mummy reboot and their 'screenplay' situation*. Universal is a strange studio and while I applaud some of their risks in the past, now they're so afraid of failing that they're failing to get their act together for some of these projects.

*Why the heck do they want to reboot The Mummy? Why would any actor want to star in it? And it's a Len Wiseman movie no less.

No surprise, she has another massive franchise to handle - one people actually want to see more of and that there's some excitement around.

Don't hurt me, I know there are some people excited about a new Jurassic Park movie.

I am guessing Speilberg will just direct & bring his friends along with him to get this movie made

The Equalizer which has a June 2024 release has found a director (Rupert Wyatt), 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' has started casting, and the next 'X-men' is pretty much set to shoot.

All of these films are Summer 2014 releases to boot, and it's sad to see Jurassic Park 4 at this stagnate state.

Great scene! The 1st movie really had the magic.
