I really wanted to like this and have a good time and I went in with an optimistic open mind. But my God, I just didn't want to be the guy who said, "This movie sucks" because I could tell everyone around me was having a good time.

I'm seeing this tomorrow again to give it another chance so I know what I'm expecting but **** man, it doesn't stop the first viewing from being displeasurable.

You'll be like this tomorrow.

Man, I feel like some are being way harsh on this.

My honest feeling is, if you're comparing this to the original it obviously pales in comparison. That goes without saying, anyone could've predicted that as soon as this movie was even announced. However if you're comparing it to most other current blockbusters, it's probably above average, but if you're a nostalgia-loving kind of person it delivers that in spades and you'll come out very happy.

I also am kind of surprised by how much sh** D'Onofrio's character gets. Yes he's a walking cliche, but come on! That is the whole fun of it, and D'Onofrio seems to be having a ball twirling his mustache. I'll admit he gets a little repetitive, but overall I feel like that role is essentially what it needs to be given the plot of the movie.

I don't know. I honestly thought it was pretty good overall, but maybe I had such a good time watching it that it's clouding my vision here? But in no way do I think this was a horrible movie. At the very least I think it's a competently made blockbuster. I thought the pacing was there, great balance of humor, solid character interactions, a real thrill ride of a third act. I don't know. I did not expect to enjoy the movie as much as I did. There is no bias here. I thought the trailers sucked quite frankly, and I walked out of this movie humming the JP theme and feeling like I got my money's worth.

Trivia: Zara isn't the only female death in the series.

At the start of "The Lost World", a little girl was feeding food to tiny baby dinosaurs when they ate her up. Although it was an off-screen death scene.

That little girl lived. Hammond said she was fine after mentioning it to Malcolm.

Yes and as I recall the incident with the little girl led to Hammond losing his company and jumpstarted the events of TLW.
Nice catalyst that.

So just got back like 40 minutes ago from the movie and all I can say Jurassic world Jurassic world Oh my! Like the best movie ever! Ok maybe not but wow what a movie! So much better then 2 or 3! So many call backs to 1 and wow what a twist just brilite twist! While 1 is a classic and I still like 1 better this movie is something. Made me fell like I was 10 years old and so many great moments! I cant want to see this movie again! Just wow! I was going to vote and give the movie a 9 but it says the poll is closed. I didn't care much for the kids. I liked the Kids better in 1 and this movie used to much CGI are my 2 things I didn't love. JP1 was like 60% animatronic and like 40% CGI and I would say this movie was more like 90/10 with the 90 being CGI. Also I think most CGI now days you almost cant even tell is CGI but I felt like this movie you could. Maybe if the animatronics was used more it would have been better. Or maybe the movie should have had like a 200 million budget in stead of 150. 150 for a block buster is kind of low now days. Most big block busters are like 200/250 type of budget or maybe it was that they made ever thing so blue looking I don't know.

Just saw the movie brook the record for OW and not second like they thought the other day just wow!

With the time of year that SW is coming out in, I'm not sure it'll do the same kind of OW business that JW did. The summer box office is much more conducive to big numbers than the box office around Christmas. SW will be dealing with bad weather, people traveling for the holidays, and money being tight after all the holiday shopping. It should still do well at over $150 million to set a new December record but I'm not sure if the conditions are right for it to break JW's record. SW will likely have better legs than JW since it'll not have much competition in the month or so after it releases.

All of these reasons are why I made my previous comment. You simply cannot predict numbers this big. No one saw it coming for TA or JW. Like I said, even though I'm not a SW fan, I understand its relevance & I have no doubts it'll have great numbers. But numbers like these? Very doubtful.

I'm actually a little baffled at my own reaction in contrast to the positive ones from other people. I have nothing against "dumb fun", reason why I enjoyed San Andreas as much as I did. And I knew going in that it wasn't gonna measure up to Spielberg's first, that was never a requirement. But during that first viewing, I simply could not go five minutes without stumbling onto something that kept me from eating it up like I was supposed. When it wasn't dumb then the jokes would fall flat, and when it wasn't that it was just very predictable. And overall... just so damn insipid. Everything is so easy, so easy to solve or escape from, the best ideas are just the stuff you saw in the trailer and very little expanded upon. For me it was just a process of non-stop waiting, waiting for it to get better. If I do give it a second watch I'm really gonna try to adjust, but that failed first time was definitely not because of unreachable standards.

Sounds like unreachable standards to me. Not every single aspect in every movie has to be overly complicated to the point that it takes some ultra genius strategy to have it figured out.

Just my $0.02.

Chris Pratt is one awesome and funny dude he kicks ass

the bit where he asks Triumph if he can have the bike and the camera shakes up an down and he says "that's a legally binding contract" had me :funny:.

With how much money this movie is making it should reach 1 billion easily. My question is can it make 2 billion? I think we will have a better idea in like 2 weeks to see what kind of legs it is going to have. I do think it is going to have good legs because it sounds like people are liking the movie over all.

Hey, end of the day everyone's got an opinion. Sometimes it's just a strange thing when you get the feeling that people are talking about two completely different movies. Not the first time it's happened it won't be the last. I've been on the opposite end of that before where I just don't get the appeal of a movie.

*monotone voice*
"I loved it, it was much better than CATS, I am going to see it again, and again."

bonus points if you know what that is from ;)

Hoskins was no worse nor more cartoonish than Nedry or Muldoon.

And I completely disagree the directing was bad in this. In fact, I though this had an oversimplistic script story but very, very good storytelling. All the scenes with the Indomius are tense and scary, the Pterosaur attack is great...

...and both the Raptor attack on the soldiers and the final battle are fantastic.

Frankly, I thought Trevorrow knew when to show something directly and when to hide it and imply/suggest. Much more interesting than most modern blockbusters than just throw action at the screen.

And, without wanting to be disrespectful, saying that other people enjoyed it due to nostalgia is almost insulting - It's putting one's opinion down because you don't share, plain and simple.

I can see $1.6-$1.7 billion but not $2 billion. I could be wrong, though. We shall see in the coming weeks.

You missed the fact the I-Rex was thrown into the electric fence/wall thing and broke it. Hence the mesosaur being able to jump out and grab it.

It still could have eaten the audience if it wanted to. There were no barriers there.

You know upon watching this the first time I didn't notice any barrier with the audience. It took me the second viewing and re-watching a trailer to notice that there is.

A barrier, and then some. With a audience a bit further back.

Poor Mosasaurus. With the island evacuated he's going to get hungry. That i-Rex is only going to last so long.

I would not feel safe watching the Mosasaurus from that place given how far it can jump. And yeah poor thing. It;'s not going to get a meal like I Rex for a long time. :csad:

I'm sure there are sharks and fishes that he could catch.

Though, I can't believe it took them four films to introduce a water-type dinosaur. I would like to see more in the 5th film.
