I don't know anything about Owen other then he's "badass."

Maybe you weren't paying attention then to a couple things. He once had a date with Claire and he was in the Navy. He was there for the birth of the raptor squad because his image has been imprinted on them and thus why they've accepted him as their alpha.

You're just describing things that made him a badass.

He was a Navy Seal.

LOL.

He's confident, assertive, comfortable in his own skin (I think I'm repeating myself), has empathy for animals (the way he caressed that dying brontosaur), ...

I think the caressing of the dying brontosaur scene, along with the little pen where the kids were riding the baby dinosaurs.

I hadn't noticed the little boy hugging the baby brontosaur around the neck.

My fiance loved it and said its one of the best, most fun movies shed ever seen. I myself arent really that crazy about it, I liked it, and its better than JP 3 for sure, but without the characters that I grew up with like Grant, ellie and malcolm, it doesnt feel like Jurassic sequel for me at all, rather an unrelated 2015 cool entertaining popcorn flick in 3d with dinos. I did love the ending when the T rex is released, such a cool treat for JP fans. And the shot where Claire is running with a flare in slow motion with T rex behind her is just wow

I must admit that although I do have problems unrelated to nostalgia that make me dislike the movie, I will admit that I just don't feel like a jurassic Park movie should ever be made without the original cast. Like the poster above me said, I grew up with Grant, ellie etc. So I miss those characters. Especially considering this sequel took place on the original Island it would have been great to see everyone from the original reacting to John hammonds dream finally being realized and how they would react to seeing these new Dinos and being reunited with the original Rexy who saved their lives in the original.

Sorry. Nothing that makes him interesting then lol. He's all of those things in the start and end of the move. Zero character development.

Would have loved to see what all the original characters thought of the Park being finally fully realised.

I imagine Lex and Tim wouldn't appreciate their grandfather's name being associated with it (and even given a statue). I mean wasn't a big part of the first movie Hammond realizing the park would never work?

Just got back from seeing this. I thought it was okay. Definitely better than the third, but on par with the second. The first is still the best. Mildly entertaining...some funny moments...lots of cliches, but I don't necessarily begrudge them for that.

He has no character development as he is already the embodiment of perfection at the start of the movie. You cannot develop further from excellence.

The arc belongs to the character of Bryce Dallas Howard, who starts off as shrill and uptight but gradually learns, in the space of less than one day, to become a lot more like Chris Pratt's character. At the end of the movie, on the following day, they are boyfriend and girlfriend.

I would certainly agree with this. I just don't think it's good storytelling.

Saw the movie with my wife today (in a packed house), and I thought that while it's not as good as the first JP movie, it's far better than the two sequels that came after. It feels like a rethread of the first movie, what saves it are Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard (who I thought would be a dour character but turned out to be so much more in the end), and the exciting climatic finish. I thought Indominus Rex was a very effective and fearsome antagonist, shrouding itself in the cover and seemingly imperious to bullets and other weapons, and far better executed than Ultron in AOU (sadly to say).

I still don't understand how a movie like this would eclipse the first Avengers' BO record, but it seems to have struck a cord within the moviegoers, who must be hungry for some serious dinosaur actions after all these years. I know Chris Pratt is becoming an A list star, but I hope this movie will also make Bryce Dallas Howard into a bigger star in Hollywood because she deserves it after spending so many years in this business but never gotten the big break.

She also saved him twice, once from that flying dinosaur and the second time by releasing the T Rex so the two Rex can face off against each other. She's definitely the protagonist of the story, and got more character development than Chris Pratt's character. It made Joss Whedon's criticism of her character rather idiotic now, especially since he made those comments without seeing the movie.

Joss Whedon was commenting on the ad and he remains correct.

There is plenty that is problematic about her character in the movie on gender grounds. I'm not 100% sure what the status is and it would be a worthwhile discussion, but I'm reluctant to initiate as it may start a flame war. Some people may be of the view that we should never analyze something that is just a movie and that we should just be happy that we get to see dinos !!!

Just came back from the movie after trying to not get spoiled from this thread since the week it's been out.

Have to admit I actually teared up a bit in the beginning when the JP theme queued up and nostalgia came rushing back. I was 10 when I saw JP1 in theaters and JW's opening nearly made me feel that age again. :o

One of my favorite scenes was the short combat bit between the Ankylosaur and Indominus. Would've liked that scene to have been longer, especially since it was a flippin' Ankylosaur and should've been able to hold its own for a longer amount of time.

Thoroughly enjoyed the movie but like a lot of people have said, it wasn't without its flaws. Would rate it #2 in the franchise though, right below JP1 at #1.

I never understood why they bothered with Rexy facing indominus at the end. What I mean by that is, you have this massive build up and reveal of Rexy. The slow motion running, the theme, breaking through the spinasaurus skeleton as an F.U to JP3. Then they completely ruin it by having Rexy dominated and almost killed in a matter of seconds. The only reason she lived is because of a bloody raptor. Then they follow that up by making Rexy look like the hero by giving her a big hero's roar at the end lol. I understand people tell me that Rexy is 20 years old but this is a movie about ressurected Dinosaurs I don't want realism. I want goosebumps and excitement. That's just me I suppose.

I don't understand why it bothers people to see the Rex beaten up.

The Spinosaurus was more powerful, and the I-rex is more powerful and more intelligent. They beat up the T-Rex.

Godzilla would beat up the T-rex too. King Kong beat up three of them in the Peter Jackson movie.

I saw the Lego version of Jurassic World on the video game, Lego Jurassic World. I rate this movie 10 stars. After seeing the Lego version, there's no point on seeing the hollywood version.

Pros:
1. No romance
2. No character development
3. Ton of action with dinosaurs and running away from dinosaurs

Did anyone else feel like this was more Bryce's movie and everyone else including Pratt were kind of the co-stars considering the arc she had?

I thought I was the only one. On the first viewing I didn't really notice but the second viewing made that more apparent (at least to me).

Either way, she was superb.

Yeah I wish T-Rex didn't go down like 5 seconds after showing up. But it didn't take away from the ending.

I would have loved to see a I-Rex/Spino fight. They both have long snouts, which is a definite advantage over T-Rex.

Also feel bad for Blue. She's a raptor without a pack now.

Good fun. As I half-expected the people were nothing more than exposition machines and mobile food sources for the dinos, but hey I didn't go in expecting Casablanca. Got to watch the second half in a light rain with lighting playing in the skies behind the screen, so perfect mix of weather and sfx!

I've just ordered this. It has got some good reviews. :woot:

I was expecting Spino to show up at some point, too bad he was not in this.

102million is fantastic and is just under Avengers record second weekend gross. Just under 400mil after two weeks is amazing and I believe they are overestimating Sunday's Father's Day aided drop.
