Jurassic World was a fun time at the theater but nothing more than that imo. I have virtually no desire to see it again anytime soon.

I enjoyed it more than Ultron, actually. Much better than 2 or 3.

I'd give the edge to JW as well though both were fun in their own way. Neither of them have substantial replay value however.

I did not know it was a tin case that is mounted on a piece of cardboard even though it said so on the title but did not pay attention to it. I though it was just going to be a standard box but with a limited edition cover. I paid too much attention on the free shirt which came with the purchase.

But shouldn't they aim to make better movies with each try? They should IMO, and TDW and IM3 were average at best so I wouldn't say high quality has been achieved with all of their movies. In fairness, they haven't made a bad movie yet, but they haven't made a truly great one either. Yes they are very successful, but AOU's BO dropped from the first movie and the home sales haven't been great either compared to the first. The drop in quality is a reason for that IMO.

No one is asking for drastic changes, but toning down the humour in serious moments and giving us better villains could improve their movies, a lot, in some cases.

I think they've really stepped up their game in Phase 2, along with many other people. And people will tell you Iron Man, The Avengers, and The Winter Soldier are great films as well. For every lesser quality film there are two to three times better films than those. I mean the fact people talk about a movie called Ant Man is pretty incredible. They get their properties and are passionate. Have they knocked it out of the park each time? No, but like you say they haven't made a bad movie yet and for a good reason. That's not something you can say about other studio movies. People may have not liked AOU as much as the first but let's not forget the same care and attention is put into that film and they're supplemented by their forthcoming films which all show promise and uniqueness. They're the ultimate trendsetters and the risk takers of the blockbuster in the past decade. It's ironic how people complain of their formula but what's worked for them has made them the only people who can do what they do and are the ones that studios want to be and are replicating

We all know they have been successful, what me and others are saying though is if they don't change the formula it will be hard for them improve and eventually it will lead to them getting less success, people will get bored of watching the same movie over and over but just with a different character. AOU being less successful shows there are flaws with their formula, it was clearly an inferior sequel and BO and home sales are showing people feel that is the case. It's not a failure by any means, but I bet they expected it to make more than the original when all their other sequels have done.

I finally caught up with the rest of the world and... And I didn't like it. At all. Poorly structured, blandly staged, almost no visual cinematic storytelling to speak of (Spielberg's trademark), the Indominus was silly, the characters were thinly drawn, ply threads go nowhere, no sense of awe of wonder, and somehow the T-Rex looks worse than it did 22 years ago. I'm truly baffled at the massive response it got.

Echoes some of my sentiments.especially the highlighted, The CGI was offkey , the rendering or something along those lines just threw me off. This film apparently had stan winston's team for some of the animatronics..... I can't even remember anything that looked remotely realistic or physically there in the same shot ,anyway descent film but has no replay value .7/10 don't know where they will take the story to in JW2.

Yea, dinosaurs were more convincing in 1993 than they were here. And it's because everything, or 99% at minimum, is CGI, while Jurassic Park and The Lost World had a blend of CGI and animatronics (JP III leaned more heavily on CGI, and it showed, but it still had some animatronics, while as far as I can tell, virtually everything here was CGI).

The dinosaurs in the old movies had a weight and a presence that they don't have here.

The T-Rex in Jurassic Park still looks perfect. It's amazing what they did. Specially in a scene with rain.

I wonder if, due to smaller industry of animatronics, that a company like Legacy may not have the resources to do something like a giant animatronic T-Rex? Or is it just them not wanting to deal with shipping or building a Rex on set?

Then again, why did Terminator Genysis resort to CGI for something like Arnold's exposed robotic hand or his damaged face, when they can easily do practical..like in T2? Seriously it looks awful.

Same here regarding JW, the more I watch it at as well the more I find myself loving it, it just ticks are the right boxes and makes you go through a lot of emotions like the best blockbusters do. Only a few movies so far this year have been better for me.

Agreed mate, it was a great mix of nostalgia, spectacle and a fulfillment of the concept in the first movie. Right now it's 1. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation 2. Mad Max Fury Road 3. Jurassic World 4. Fast 7 5. Ant-Man, for me.

Unfortunately, CGI is cheaper. Besides that, practically all of the shots of the T-Rex in the movie are action shots where they'd have to use a CGI model anyway. My major problem with the CGI Rex in this one were its eyes, specifically in the shot where it looks at Blue after the fight. They gave it puppy dog eyes that look way bigger than in any of the other films. I thought it looked fine in the final scene of the movie, though.

By and far the best CGI dinosaurs in the film were the raptors.

Honestly, if the quality of the few animatronics we got in this film were any indication, I'm glad they went mostly CGI. Animatronics seem to be a dying art, because those were not up to par with what we got in '93, imo.

So how does the flick look in extreme HD or 4K or whatever the **** you're using? ILM is like one of the few studios where the CG doesn't have that bad habit of standing out when the movie is viewed on a really high def screen.

It looks amazing. The sound mix is top notch, as well.

Just watched this movie for the 4th time first time on dvd saw it 3 times in theaters and was wanting to watch it on dvd for a few days because I wanted to watch it with my grandparents. Man I love this movie still! It is my favorite movie of the year so far and if star wars is even close to this I will be surprised because I am still iff and still think it could suck because of how bad the prequels where. Back to Jurassic world though after seeing it 4 times the action was done really while and I loved loved the twist with the raptors was just brilliant! Such a fun entertaining movie and easily the second best Jurassic movie and close to the first one. If I where to rate the Jurassic park movies I think I would go something like this.

1. Jurassic park 9.5- A classic and a movie that was ahead of its time.

2. Jurassic world 9.2- Great action and had a lot of magic to like the first one did and fells more like a real sequel then the other 2 sequels.

3. Jurassic park the lost world 7.5- Not even close to the other 2 but still a fun and entertaining movie and it has grown on me over the years.

4. Jurassic park III 4.0- Movie has a few cool parts like the bird cage and I liked the raptors things towards the end but over all the movie had a lot of bad parts and was to short and felt like it was really just made for money and like it shouldn't have been made.

The day stuff like the chitchen don't look has good but the stuff in the night just looks great. If I didn't know that T-Rex in Jurassic park in the rain was in a 22 year old movie and you told me that I would slap you and be like no way lol.

I thought lot of the herbivore shots were wonky. Nothing comparable to the first film. Sometimes the I-Rex looked great other times not so much. I thought the lowest point was with Julianne Moore and the stegosauruses. Just awful.

Definitely mate, it hit all the right notes for me and it actually had emotion, stakes and tension to the story, in terms of summer blockbusters for mine is pretty the same as yours but swapping MI and MMFR around, and taking F7 out as I didn't see it.

And shouldn't JW have done the same? Seriously, ever single point that's people have made about this film. I'll give it credit for one thing, it's not TLW (so I don't actively LOATHE it), but it's not a particularly good film either. Honestly the more that I watch it, the less and less that I care for it. The flaws/stupidity just get more and more apparent on every viewing.

Agreed. This film was just bleh. Seriously, relying on nostalgia doesn't make it a good movie. This film was easily the worst in the franchise. Lawd have mercy the characters were so bland and uninteresting.

But in this film, he lives! Which means that he could be back for the sequel.

The extras on the blu ray is bear bones. They don't even have an effects reel.
