Hell yeah! What a movie! Loved it. My showing was packed and everyone clapped at the end. I'll answer any questions you guys have.

I don't see where the story could go from here.

Well they are clearly setting up [blackout]genetically manipulated dinosaurs created by Henry Wu and InGen for paramilitary purposes.[/blackout]

I am not saying I want that movie. But that is clearly left dangling and open. Personally though, if they do continue at all, it is time for the dinosaurs to reach the mainland and for humans to have to start facing co-existence or even the threat of extinction. But that is more like Michael Crichton's doomsaying. Only the first Spielberg film had a trace of that. None of the sequels ever want to go somewhere so dark though, even if The Lost World ironically is the most mean-spirited and dark of the four.

Really excited to see this later on today, I've heard a lot of good things about it and have kept myself relatively spoiler free.

I think you're stigmatizing pot smokers here, Which is understandable, but still a stigma.
I was stoned when I saw this movie. Loved, and remembered every minute of it. And I was definitely one of the few more respectful people there

Agreed. I've been stoned every time I've been to a movie in the last 6 years and not once have I ever ruined the movie for someone else. I think it has less to do with pot and the fact that those annoying kids were just that: annoying kids.

I will say that I think [blackout]Claire's assistant had the worst death in the film and perhaps the whole franchise. Seriously, it looks like she was swallowed whole getting eaten by that thing. Not a pleasant way to go.[/blackout]

Just thought that I would throw that out there.

I actually thought Jurassic World was more mean-spirited than The Lost World. This one seemed a lot more violent, [BLACKOUT]between the I-Rex's victims (including the Apatosauruses it murdered), Masrani's helicopter being attacked and exploding, the death of Claire's assistant, the raptor that got blown up by a rocket launche[/BLACKOUT]r...I don't know, TLW just seemed more tame to me.

I just think The Lost World is visually and tonally darker. The lighting is intentionally muted and less "shiny" than Jurassic Park (which Trevorrow tried to emulate in a number of ways), but also the characters are mostly nasty. Other than Ian Malcolm and Eddie, none of the characters are that likable and they all have deaths that feel like "they had it coming." In fact, the aforementioned Eddie saves the heroes who got themselves and everyone else in danger, and as a result, Eddie is ripped in half by two T-Rexes like a wishbone.

Same with all the people (and a dog!) the Rex eats in San Diego. It just felt kind of nasty. I think World was just trying to have fun. It had likable characters (though hardly fully dimensional like Grant, Malcolm, Ellie, or Hammond) and [blackout]it didn't feed any of them to dinosaurs. Though Claire's assistant, as aforementioned, got it really badly.[/blackout]

But just my opinion.

The raptor wasn't blown up. It was the one that came sprinting in at the end to help the Rex. It was the only one to survive. Agreed about that poor Apatosaur, it had one girl behind me crying. I actually felt just as bad for the Ankylosaur, which put up a good fight before it got killed. :csad:

I liked the movie...not as much as the first but better than the other two.

The I-rex really had it coming at the end. Though I felt kind of sorry for it - throughout the movie I imagined it was like a person raised in isolation. A person who grew up under those same conditions would be just was wild and insane.

Are you sure?

I'm trying to recall exactly what happened to the other three now. When they first turn on the I-Rex one, I think Blue, gets swatted away (this is the one I assumed came back into the fight alongside the T-Rex). Another was thrown into a storefront and the building exploded... Not sure about the other?

And yeah, I was sad for those other dino's, too. :(

I thought so, yeah. It would be pretty hard for--

--a Raptor to comeback from a rocket hit. :p

You haven't seen the movie yet, have you? I know there's never been any real doubt in your mind, but dammit, you're going to ****ing love it. :woot:

Nope haven't seen it. But have read every single spoiler and watched a ton of clips online that people have leaked. Love everything I am seeing and hearing and love this franchise so yeah, I'm definitely going to love it a ton :) Seeing it Saturday so pumped.

I''m still totally geeking out about the
T Rex vs I Rex. I Know the raptor helped, but seeing the original T Rex more or less just drag and push around Indominus the last 20 seconds was just pure Jurassic gold.

This was just be best moment of film for me in years, even over moments from Age of Ultron and the MCU

I enjoyed it, but it still felt a little "slight".

No sequel has captured the sense of awe and wonderment of the original.

I'd put it better than 3 but behind The Lost World, personally.

The dinosaurs were more convincing in the original movie and The Lost World. The CGI was technically good but looked too CGI. The dinosaurs had a "weight" to them in the first two movies that they lost in JP3 and didn't have here either. This was especially noticeable with T-Rex. I mean, she didn't look "bad", but she didn't feel as real and solid with a real weight to her.

Almost too actiony.

The kids didn't bother me.

BDH's character felt vaguely sexist. Like being a high-powered corporate woman means she has to be so ridiculously uptight, and it takes a hunky man's man to loosen her up.

I liked Pratt. He's a natural leading man.

The kids didn't bother me. They were a lot less annoying than Kelly Malcolm.

In fact, D'Onofrio was the one who was annoying. Such a one-note caricature. That whole subplot was superfluous and unnecessary.

Loved all the little nods to the original, the old jeeps and night vision goggles.

The
Dilophosaurus
"cameo" was a great little moment.

The
T-Rex smashing the Spinosaurus skeleton
was an awesome "FU" to the third movie.

Gave me goosebumps when
Claire released the T-Rex. That whole ending battle was amazeballs.

Claire's assistant got it baaaaad. Worst death since Eddie Carr.

So how cool were the trained raptors? That's easily my most anticipated factor of this film.

I'm with ya there.
There was A LOT of dino death in this movie. Some of it was hard to watch.

Ah, my bad.
I thought it was just done a bit poorly on making it look like it was hit but wasn't. I thought for sure the three remaining raptors were killed by the I-Rex.

Just got back from viewing it with a longtime friend. JP played a very dominant role in our childhoods. It was just awesome. Nothing will top the original but this felt like a true sequel and the 2nd best in the series for me. I loved the action and nods to the original. Man, did I hate the I-Rex.
Also seeing Ian Malcolm's "God Created Dinosaurs" book throughout the film was great!

Hell yes! We all know JW won't top JP. But I definitely see it topping TLW and JP3. Can't wait to discuss with you Hunter. Especially after all the leaked clips and footage I've been watching. Cannot wait to discuss.

Likewise my friend. :D  JP is in a league of it's own but I have a good feeling that JW will be the definitive sequel.
