OMG, I just read that the "two margaritas" guy in the Pteranadon attack was Jimmy Buffet. He was already my favorite extra, so that just makes that shot 10x more awesome.
Just got back home from my showing. Wow I absolutely loved it. I knew I would and it didn't disappoint my expectations. And even being a spoilers go having known and seen some of this before going in, seeing it play out on the big screen had me so giddy. This movie is my favorite after the original as I thought my ranking of the series is JP, JW, TLW then JP3.
This film pulled at my JP heart strings so many times and my love for this franchise. Won't lie got teary eyed a few times. From the beginning when the boys arrive on the island and we hear the classic theme and see the park, to the remains of the visitors center and the gas powered jeeps. And especially the end when
Rexy overlooking the park that part got me big time.
The kids weren't annoying to me, Kelly in TLW and Eric in JP3 still hold that crown for me as the most annoying. The divorce subplot didn't really bother me or Anything. It was just eh whatever, my parents are divorced so I can understand I guess. Loved Bryce and Pratt in this. Also really loved Masrani was
sad to see him die, and was actually pleased with Wu being the villain along with Hoskins
The dinosaurs looked wonderfully magnificent. Absolutely gorgeous, they were glorious in their scenes. The raptors in this film were awesome and that whole arc with them was very well done. My favorites raptors behind the original JP ones. Rexy looked incredible. My audience cheered and clapped twice during the finale.
once after the team up against indominus when mosa came out and grab her, and the other at the very end when Rexy did her roar over the park
The score was superb, again my favorite score since the original film. It captures so well what Williams did with the original. I really need to download it. Some other thoughts.
- Loved the raptors in the jungle scene against Ingen, very much like Aliens. Totally got that vibe and loved it.
- Indominus was incredibly well done and fierce, scary in fact. Felt much more like a threat over the Spinosaurus. Also the fact that it could
camoflauge was awesome, and it was really well done I thought. A very nice nod to TLW book with the Carnotaurus
- the pteranodon and dimorphodon scene was excellent fun and chaos
- loved getting to see the functioning park and all the rides and attractions from the boys POV etc, really great stuff.
- I really loved the scene with Claire and Owen and the Apatosaurus. Very sad scene and I thought a great homage in a way to the sick trike scene from JP. Tugged at my heart strings.
I can't gush enough how about much I thoroughly enjoyed this film and to me it is essentially the real sequel of the franchise. Like I could have a movie night and just watch JP and JW and be completely happy and content. And no I'm not someone that is ignoring the other films in the timeline, I enjoy them all. I'm just saying haha. I will stop rambling, I loved it so much. That is all t:
Just watched it again and I still thought it was pretty great. In fact, I liked all the characters even more this time around, even Hoskins.
The only 2 gripes I had with the whole film was the "new guy" who falls into the raptor pit (honestly, worst actor out of every JP movie. Such a freaking goober. This is just a nitpick, though, it didn't really change my opinion of the movie) and Giacchino's score.
I hate to say it, but this was a weak effort from Giacchino. He's had way more memorable scores, and even when he's using the original Williams score it sounds off. Like it's too fast and they're just trying to get through it. Some of his score was, in my opinion, kind of cheesy. Most of it was good because he's such a great composer, but overall I couldn't leave the theater humming any particular theme, which is a bummer since I can basically hum along to JP1 from start to finish.
LOVED it yeah!! And I knew you'd love it mate haha. What you said about the raptors in the jungle at night being like Aliens, I totally got that vibe too, awesome stuff. Indominus really delivered. I'd be interested to know how this would have been received if it had come out back then as the 1st sequel to JP. Given how well it is doing on opening weekend at the box office I think we could be in for a great future for this franchise. Dinos are back!
Yeah, that was one of the things that got me, that she *not once* took those dang heels off. I mean, there were a couple points where I thought for sure she would find a chance to switch out her footwear (as well as maybe find something more practical than the skirt too) like when [blackout]she Owen and the kids got to the raptor pen, there wasn't some spare tactical gear or something that she could make use of?[/blackout]

Rexy was down from the blows from the Irex, but it wasn't long at all (5 seconds at the most.)after Blue jumped in and attacked, Rexy was up and dominating the fight again. I kind of see it like in a professional fight where the fighter gets dominated, then gets their second wind, rises up and is victorious. I think even if Blue had not joined the fight, Rexy would have jumped up and continued the fight. I don't think Blue's attacks did hardly anything to the Irex honestly.
I TOTALLY disagree. [BLACKOUT]They definitely conveyed a sense that T-Rex was about to be killed by iRex. T-Rex was all bloodied and down for the count and the iRex was opening her mouth about to chomp down on T-Rex for the final "blow" until Blue came out running to distract iRex long enough for T-Rex to get recollect herself and attack again.[/BLACKOUT]

I WILL agree that Giacchino's score was pretty forgettable. Nothing really stood out except for a couple of instances when certain beats sounded John Williams like. However, I'm gonna speculate that it's because of his relationship with the director. His best and most inspired scores IMO come from movies that J.J. Abrams has directed. There's an article from **************.net that states "The word is that J.J. Abrams is really good at explaining what he has in mind musically and the partnership Abrams and Williams have formed is paying off big time." Being able to convey and explain the type of feeling and emotion you want from a score is extremely important to the composer of your score and since this is only Trevorrow's 2nd film I can imagine that he doesn't have quite the same level of communicating what he wants out of a score, or he might not even have a good grasp on what makes a good score....but again, this is all just speculation.
JW's success is going to help push GOTG2 to even greater height, even though without it the sequel is going to do huge business at the box office anyway. I can already see Marvel thinking about a Star Lord solo movie once GOTG finishes its trilogy due to the star power of Chris Pratt. I think he may be approaching A list celebrity already with Lego Movie, GOTG, and now JW under his belt.
Nor me. Trevorrow said in an interview Dallas Howard insisted that she wear the high heels to retain a part of her femininity in the midst of all the chaos. He respected the decision and went with it.

That's awesome. I saw that Margaritaville was one of the restaurants on main street.
This is definitely the best of the sequels. All of the stuff that I dreamed of as a kid happened in this movie and it was much funnier than I thought it would be.
I think continuing the GOTG franchise beyond the trilogy is a fantastic idea, and I still think they will show up in the Infinity War. Marvel will not pass up the chance to feature both of their super teams in one movie against Thanos for sure.
JP3 is such filler. It didn't progress the story forward in any way. I'm happy to ignore it even happened. With JP-TLW-JW it finally looks like a good trilogy, even though there's going to be more films coming.
I'm pretty sure that this film ignores TLW and JP3. I believe it was mentioned that the original park and the dinosaurs was wiped out in TLW. It certainly was in the novel at least.

While all main heroes seem to have a pause after 3 films, i think Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man will most likely not get that, their plans right now don't seem limited to a trilogy. Even with Infinity War, something similar may happen with Avengers, as it's definitely going beyond 3 stories.
