Please don't merge or move this thread please. There is a thread asking if your going to pee through the movie or not, this is more relevant and serious.

I'm not going to talk about the plot, but this I'm going to say this:

Do not miss your chance to see this movie. See it while you can, words can't describe what I have witnessed tonight, I don't remember really any concerts I go to, or any family events, or my first kiss or first girlfriend. But this movie has been embedded in my brain, it is something that is going to float around inside my head for the rest of my life and something I will tell my children. This film is flawless. I have seen thousands of movies and NOTHING comes close to the greatness of The Dark Knight.

Heath Ledger as The Joker. People play it up about how its going to be the performance of his career. They are wrong. This is a performance of the generation. You don't see Heath Ledger in make up as The Joker. As I said earlier, you see a homicidal, psychotic, schizophrenic, insane, chronic lying unpredictable genius. You feel the obsession The Joker has for Batman. I can't put into words how well Heath Ledger has done. You can say maybe I am just over doing it because of the hype of the character already. But once you step into the cinema, and you see Heath Ledger, his movements, his voice, his eyes, EVERYTHING about him. Your jaw will be dropped like mine, and you really won't be able to describe what you witnessed. If Heaven is real, I imagine it to be as great as Heath Ledger.

We all had doubts about Ledger at first before we saw footage, either you completely dismissed him or you went in with an open mind, not expecting the best and not expecting the worst like I did. But what you have seen so far is NOTHING to what you will see in the film. Nobody will ever live up to his performance, nobody past or present.

This movie deserves to be written in stone and included in the Bible, Thou Shall Watch The Dark Knight.

Christian Bale, Freeman, Cain, Ekhart and Rachel Dawes were all incredible too, but greatly overshadowed by Heath Ledger.

One more thing, Heath Ledgers speech on Madness is the greatest piece of dialog I have heard on a film since Brando in Apocalypse Now.

I'm not rating this movie out of 5 or 10, that would be belittling it, this movie deserves to be a pedestal, it is an art work.

These comments are making me go crazy!! I can't stand three more days of this torture!!!

It will blow your mind. Thats all there is to it. If you have a high expectations, you might aswell get ready and look at the sky because they will be overshadowed by the greatness of this movie.

I would have elaborated more on the other characters, but I need a day or two to register how incredible Heath Ledger was. Calling it the greatest role in cinema history is on the tip of my tongue, there is no doubt he is the greatest villain in cinema history, if you disagree you will eat your words once you see it.

Calling it good is an understatement.

Let's just saw, in my will, it will include that in my final hours I wish to watch The Dark Knight.

Its great to see such enthusiasm after watching it, I would rather read a review like this then the ones in the other thread.

You didnt give anything away which I really appreciate as well

Meh, i don't trust anyone's opinions anymore, i've heard people call TIH the greatest comic book film ever recently, with the dark knight stuff having a strong following, I'm expecting a loto f that in the coming weeks.

I will have to reserve judgement until i've viewed it personally but it's nice to see it has the capability of having a strong connection with someone.

on a quick note, were the actual scenes especially the physical combat scenes done and shot better than in batman begins?

Woah.
It's relieving to know that all the hype is justified with the film exceeding the hype, and that I can get excited over this without being let down somehow.
I am even more super hyped now :D
I appreciate the review, and that you gave no spoilers.

Nathan, were there any monorails in it? some critics say you can see them in the big Gotham external shots if you look for them. I would love to see them again. And did it feel like an extension of Batman Begins (like within the same universe) or is it completely stand alone.

Im glad you enjoyed it:D

Nah I don't think I have seen any in it lol. And yeah, it feels like an extension. I don't know how far apart Begins and TDK are, but its a great sequel, I suggest watching Begins before you see TDK for that extra niceness

I understand completely, but once you see it you will struggle to put it into words with how good it was.

And yes, the fight scenes are ALOT better. Batman kicks some serious ass, I think I heard a few arms and legs snap lol. The camera work in the fight scenes are better too.

Christian Bale was a great Bruce Wayne and Batman as always. You see him as the playboy billaionaire snob in Begins and he carries that around to The Dark Knight also. Him as Batman is also great, you can tell he has been practicing alot of the fighting movies, Batman is more brutal and violent compared to his year one term, I think I heard a few arms and legs snap. Also, don't say the suit is crap, once you see it your mind will change, he looks literally like a Bat while he flies now. Christian Bale also compliments Heath Ledgers obsession for Batman with his own obsession to stop The Joker. You feel for Bruce Wayne.

Michael Cain as Alfred was really heart warming, you don't see much of him in the film, but when you do, with what he says, its something that is exactly what you think Alfred should be like, he is not only like a father figure in the film, but he is

Morgon Freeman was just as good as he was in Begins, which is great. This time, he has more of a CEO authority about him then just his I'm working at the bottom way about him in the first. I enjoyed it.

Aaron Eckhart was the perfect choice for Harvey Dent/Two-Face. I don't think anyone else could fill the role. He had the look, the charms, the passion, the drive, and he also expressed the tragic of his character greatly. But honestly, I enjoyed his "other half" more. ;)

Maggie Gyllenhaal is the best Rachel. She is a great actor and I hope to see her more, as some of you know, I despise Rachel in Begins, mainly because of Katie Holmes. But Maggie Gyllenhaal played the role how it should be. She is a really loveable, cute character. You don't see her as a *****y cow like Holmes, you see her as a strong women.

Gary Oldman, what can I say about him? We get to see alot more of him in this film, you don't see him as the guy who has hardly any hope left like you did in Begins, he brings a driven and determined cop.

Sorry about these short little reviews on the actors, I don't really know what to say, I'm still locked on Heath Ledgers portrayal as The Joker.

god darn it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! reading this review makes me wanna see this movie right now!!!!!

only one more day for me!!! i cant wait

Honestly? No. I don't think this movie will be topped in a long long time, by anyone.

Oh god I can't wait to see this tomorrow! Great review, I am so exciteddddd!

this just got me more excited than I was before lol and that was pretty damn excited, the most ive ever been for anything in my life!

The interrogation? Heath Ledger and Christian Bales chemistry is great, you truly see the obsession they both have with each other that you read in the comic books. In all honesty and without spoiling it, Batman shows how freaking cool he can be in this scene lol

To add on to the question about the fight scenes:

I can't believe how brutal Batman is, you kind of get the impression if you step out of line and do something wrong, Batman will drop from the ceiling and crush your nose back into your skull and then break your collar bones while your on the ground squirming in your own blood lol. He is brutal.
