wishful thinking?

hey, they happened so they are real life facts and evidences no matter how slim the chances are it is possible and it is written in boxoffice history that there are 90-110OW negative review films that went on to finish $250-$400m. you lose on this certain argument and thats a fact

This really is your stand up routine, innit?

And why the double double posting?

Did any mod do an IP check on eren. Bet money that he's some banned poster

I am biased towards Flash because Wally West is my favorite hero. I think Flash is a household name the CW show with Barry has helped a lot, the old JL cartoons were great and Wally West Flash was awesome and beloved. I think the issue with him is that they kind of made Barry into Wally. I always saw Barry as the nerdy unfunny one as a kid while Wally would quip and was the fastest ever. They have Barry as the silly guy now, hate the damn armor outfit though.

Aquaman is known but not taken seriously imo.
Thanks.

I actually meant before all the recent films/shows, more on the back of comics, cartoons/animated films, games etc and how far that has permeated into the mainstream. I'm sure the Flash show has helped get him much better known for modern audiences as you say.

Yes they've kind of switched the Flash personality around with Ezra's version. I liked him in the role (also liked the outfit and especially the FX for his powers) but can certainly understand your issue with it.

They have a bad habit of doing that with the Flash. I think the YJ show got them right for the most part. But even though I love him DCAU Wally is more like a Bart/Wally hybrid. DCEU Barry seems like Bart. I can't speak on the Arrowverse Wally though

I don't think they're going to stop their shared universe over this. It's just ridiculous they've done enough damage to the brand that Justice League isn't a slam dunk.

I don't think I worded my post very well and should have specified I meant their keenness to take on universe event films rather than being put off the DCEU altogether. I do think they'll lose something by having only solo films that are almost totally unrelated as the momentum of the universe won't build in the same way it has done for the MCU, a momentum that in time creates a margin of safety allowing even smaller properties to get a fair shot. Things like Ant Man and Guardians might not have been given the same chance by the GA without the MCU being a very obvious thing in their mind.

Yes agreed. I'd be interested to see if hardcore Flash comic fans are overall in favour of Ezra's version or not.

the facts and evidences is on my previous sentence. minions, tf2? come on now. if you want more go to boxofficemojo as there are more films open with 90-110OW and finish anywhere from $250-400M including negative reviewed films

I cannot wait to use you as reference in a month's time for an example of "deluded fan"

Ezra seems to be getting a mixed response. I havent seen the movie, but just from the 2 trailers Ive seen he's gotten on my nerves a bit.
Would've loved a Barry that was more in line with someone like Matt Damon in The Martian. Nerdy, endearing, smart, and an overall nice guy.

He shouldn't be like how Ezra portrayed him from what I've seen. Again I haven't seen the movie and I'm not saying Ezra is bad in the role.

For me personally-- A few of his jokes land, but overall, it comes off as them trying to hard to make him the "offbeat, quirky comedy guy!"

The Double Toasted guys pointed it out that Ezra plays the character as someone who's on the autism spectrum and I kinda agree. That made him more interesting than your run of the mill comedic relief character.

I had my worries about him going into the film but Ezra was the best part of the movie for me.

So.... this is already down from BvS internationally? What a disaster.

UK opening day was apparently half of the BvS figure.

It comes off as a bad version, at least from what Ive seen, of what they did with Spidey in the MCU

I'm very seriously worried about that. If Shazam-- a character I couldn't care less about-- comes and is a big hit... I don't want any of the boneheads at WB thinking "Well, what do we need Superman for now?"

JL Superman worked, even with moustache-gate. ****ing use him, WB.

But I don’t think that would happen, Superman is a hugely bankable character for WBs. Be it film or tv he’s been around in some form for decades. So they are always going to keep Superman going. Afterall even off Shazam becomes huge Superman is still a money maker for WBs/DC so they wouldn’t shun him like that. What’s more likely is they take a break with the films until they can figure out what to do with him. But they won’t ever give up on him.

Are Superman films huge money makers? Not really. As has been pointed out a Superman movie hasn't been a big success since Superman II. Not that they gross a little but when you factor in how much they spend, they haven't been making a lot of money.

Now Supes is still an icon and his merchandise sells well, but I don't think he's hugely bankable for them. If he was they wouldnt have taken so long to get another Superman film in production between SR and MoS or there wouldve been a new Superman Animated series

Full disclosure: I consider Scott Mendelson an embarassing shill.

People can spin it anyway they want. If this film craters, every sponsor who loses money, every toy maker who does't get the return they were looking for doesn't come back around for another round.

Most high profile hero films make some kind of money if not off ticket receipts then DVD and toy merchandise. But if the experience is paramount to a industry black eye, no one wants to attach themselves to that again. That happen with Batman Returns as well as Batman & Robin. Both those films lost allot of industry support when reviews and returns were well below expectations.

Right now Justice League is performing like Green Lantern. The pre-buzz kill of the Rotten Tomatoes publicity stunt along with the public's recent memory of BVS is having a chill effect on this film. The question is no longer where is the top, but where is the bottom?

The movie that has the public's attention this weekend, especially young people, is Wonder. I saw it last night with my wife and it was fantastic. ALLOT of teenagers and young kids in that theater too. If I was a betting man I would place big money on that film being the holiday champ in terms of outperforming expectations.

Justice League has really bad reviews and is hardly a fan favorite, so word of mouth is not helping. It will be interesting (and sad) to see if $93 million is where this rests. It would have been nice to see a really good Justice League movie storm through the theaters, but that is clearly not going to happen. The writer of that article is completely lost to this notion these movies are bullet proof. They're not.

Would have like to see Black Adam as played by the Rock faced off Supes in his own movie, then segue to Shazam. A money-maker with the franchise saver right there.

The notable upticks seem to be only Brazil and China so far I believe.

Being a Dceu fan is like being a fan of the Dallas cowboys, they have sparks of greatness but will break your heart in the end.

Stick a fork in this version of it.

No but what I’m saying is he’s bankable. His films might not do a billion but they make money and on TV he’s very successful. They could make Superman films on a smaller budget easily, I think that’s one of my issues with WBs recent DC pictures the budgets have been overblown.

What I’m saying is as a character he is bankavle for the company on many levels. I still think if they made the right film it would be massively successful for them but they just haven’t made it yet. Tbf they took the piss making a film during the 90s and I think it’s clear that WBs have had too many idiots in charge of decisions over the years. But this is Hollywood, Paramount couldn’t even make a Friday the 13th film with the rights for five years. A huge part of Hollywood are utterly clueless as to what audiences actually want and instead jump on trends etc. Anyway I’m rambling but my point is make the right film and people will go see it.

And Superman will always be around I have no doubts of this is it for him in films for a while there’ll be a Superman TV series at somepoint. Superman has always returned to television. If that’s happens I’ll be one happy camper.

That’s probably one of the most likely outcomes.

Yeah, I completely agree with that takeaway. This more Aspergian take on Barry was fantastic imo.

I couldn’t stand him in the movie. Beyond annoying. Cringe worthy in parts.
