Justice League Plot and Storyline Discussion

Alien invasions are vintage Avengers...

I'd definitely skip an invasion for a JLA adaptation.

Just scratch Brainiac's fleet and we got ourselves a movie.

A league of DC's greatest villains against DC's greatest heroes.

I love how they fight in the abandoned ruins of a city. They're free to just beat the living **** out of each other without having to worry about killing innocent people in the process. If a live-action film can capture even half of the glory in that video... my goodness :hrt:.

Also, they'd probably have to hold off on this guy until a third film, but I need to see him on the big screen at some point (ridiculous Thanos-comparisons be damned):

Well, I for one is very excited to see Thanos on the big screen. It won't affect WB's decision whether to use Darkseid in a future JLA movie but there's something to be said about doing it first in a huge event film.

I've previously said that I wanted Superman to get the biggest positive reactions from the audience ala Hulk in The Avengers. I've changed my mind. I want Aquaman to be that character.

I want a scene where a bunch of bad guys draw their weapons on him and he says something like "I come from the depths of the ocean where even the rays of the Sun cannot reach, in pressures that would crush submarines and you think your weapons can harm me?" after which he proceeds to kick major ass.

Here's my idea, a combination of Batman Beyond and Young Justice:

Synopsis: Twenty five years ago there was a Great Crisis, in which the combined forces of heroes and villains fought valiantly to repel the forces of Darkseid. Though the champions of earth prevailed, all were killed, save Batman. Shortly after this tragedy the Government developed Project Cadmus. Under the guise of a government funded fertility program, Cadmus attempted to recreate their fallen heroes by implanting their genetic material (the “metagene”) into relatives undergoing fertility treatments. The project had three (and perhaps four) successes:

Bruce Wayne continued his role as Gotham’s protector, but eventually retired to live out his life alone in Wayne Manor. At the urging of Gotham University, Wayne eventually agreed to have assistance in the form of Terry McGinness, a former Navy Seal recently enrolled at the school. At the same time, the Government has determined the “clones” to be too dangerous (and valuable) out on their own, and sent its Amazo robot to forcibly collect the results of Project Cadmus: Iris West, Connor Kent and Virgil Hawkins. With the assistance of a hospitalized Amanda Walker, Terry and Bruce must combine forces to free the “clones” from Cadmus. And perhaps, start a new Justice League.

Sorry but I am not a fan of this idea at all. There are a couple of reasons, but the main one is that that is one of the poorest ways to put the JL on the big screen

More accurately, its not even putting the JLA on screen, but some weird bastardized Young Justice-esque successor. While simultaneously rendering the *actual* JLA unusable.

Right? The heroes are not holding back at all, thus the feats are far more impressive and spectacular. I can only imagine the awesomeness and awe-spiring battles with Flash, Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Hawkgirl and Green Lantern squaring off against the likes of Black Adam, Ares, Lex Luthor, The Joker, Deathstroke, Sinestro, Metallo and Black Manta.

Me personally, I wouldn't hold Darkseid back til the third installment. I'd bring him in for the second film. A Kingdom Come adaptation would be much more fitting for the third part.

AND Ironside or Cullen must voice him!!

i dont think Kingdom Come is a good idea for a live action movie.

I still say go with a pragmatic approach.

Though if you have to build a Justice League universe from the ground up, you can incorporate a lot of stuff the comics usually skip over. Like how the heroes first met, and when they first met. I recall one comic actually has a pre-Batman Bruce Wayne meeting Clark Kent.

There is so much potential in a Justice League film, too bad DC doesn't have enough sense to get this thing going. After seeing how well the Avengers did is doing, can you imagine that with the two most popular Comic characters of all time?

Will Christopher Nolan be a hurdle or a boon for the possibility of a JLA film ?
He seems rather protective of Batman and probably thinks Justice League is ridiculous

Also, I would prefer to see a Trinity movie first with Batman & Superman meeting Wonder Woman (Her movie would already be out). The villain could be Vandal Savage and would establish JLA as the big sequel with the three heroes going to recruit 3 others for a full team. Batman would be the Nick Fury, paranoid normal keeping track of all supers with space age technology with Superman's help.

I loved they way in Avengers they showed Nick Fury coming to terms with the existence of superhero's and taking extreme steps to contain them. Also, I would replace Green Lantern with Hawkgirl in the team as per the above poster.

We're trying to keep this thread just for plot ideas for JL; not for why WB isnt making the film or the plot ideas for World's Finest, Trinity, etc.

Well alright then.

For Justice League who here thinks Batman should have an upgraded suit similar to the one from Batman Beyond or the nanosuit from Crysis? This would give him greater strength, speed, allow him to do a lot more AND make it believable.

I do, but not for the whole film. DUring the climax when the JL is fighting an army of aliens, OMACs, or whatever I'd have him wearing a powered suit but I'd have it look like this:

It's from the Arkham Asylum video game if anyone didnt know

I don't think the JLA movie should feature a villain that is mostly used for one hero, like Brainiac or Lex Luthor. Though it can be done(i.e Loki)

Darkseid doesn't apply to this because he is a menace to all and has no limitations to who he goes after.

I was thinking:
One of the things that Avengers has easier than JL is that in the MCU THe Avengers are brought in by SHIELD and that's how theyre able to have all the heroes in the same location for most of the second act. How would they do that in JL when JL doesnt have a gov't agency that recruits them and so many of them have secret identities

Simple enough. Batman is the greatest detective in the world. He should be able to easily figure out who Superman, Flash and Green Lantern are.

Superman is (depending on the continuity) an award winning journalist, able to see through things, and has superhuman intelligence. Either one should be able to figure out most of the other heroes' identities before ever meeting them in person. Either one could try to get the heroes together.

They could also just begin the film with some of the characters already knowing each other. Like how in the old comics, Superman and Aquaman met in their youth.

The heroes would decide to get together on their own.

Like they always did.

I meant how would they have the whole league together, however many they are, other than for action scenes when they dont have a government agency to come under and they all have secret identities and probably wont reveal them that quick.

I was saying in Avengers, none of them had secret identities except The Hulk kind of and had SHIELD so from the narrative sense it was easy for them to all come together for the non action scenes
