Justice League- How Would You Go About It

Darkseid uses a time machine to prevent Superman from existing and creates a alternativa timeline where the world is full of superheroes and Batman is not dark and brooming. Meanwhile, an elderly Batman also goes back in time to stop Darkseid and witness the origin of the Justice League.

The Justice League is an enormous, but relevant concept. The themes involved are timeless and very accessible, and there are all kinds of angles that can be explored, and an insane amount of possibilities. However, I really think the JLA franchise should be skewed toward "classic", but not in such a way that it prevents or interrupts successful solo franchises from being able to show key moments of a character's mythology. I envision three films, a building story, and an escalating series of events and character development issues.

THE JUSTICE LEAGUE would open with the league already existing, consisting of Superman, Diana, J'onn, The Flash (Wally West) and Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner). Eel O'Brian would be introduced in the movie as a sort of super-intern, a metahuman who helps the league to avoid a prison sentence after being transmuted during an attempted heist. Physicist Ray Palmer would have a role as the league's resident scientist, and Bruce Wayne/The Batman would feature as a reluctant former ally. Arthur would have a role as well, mostly political, to indicate the way that the world's feelings toward the league and metahumans were evolving.

The initial movie would feature the public losing their once unshakeable faith in their Justice League due to a mistake on the league's part while trying to save lives, and humanity beginning to see the flaws in the league's methods. The government, specifically The President and his Secretary of Defense Amanda Waller, would distance themselves from the league. Darkseid would be the villain, and his invasion of Earth the main conflict. Darkseid's minions Kalibak and Desaad would have key roles, and his long-lost son Orion would feature as well, in a movie that utilizes elements of The New Gods to introduce Darkseid, a credible alien threat the league cannot just defeat that causes the world to re-evaluate it's feelings about metahumans and aliens. The movie would end with the league realizing that the league must be ready for future threats, and considering enlarging it's roster.

The second film in the franchise, THE JUSTICE LEAGUE: ECLIPSE would begin with the world, leery after the events of the previous movie, moving in a new direction, less willing to trust those with great power. The league would fight the alien terrorist Despero in the beginning and briefly become controlled by him, leading to widespread alien paranoia. There would be a thread of "aliens among us" throughout the movie, and this would serve as the introduction of Thanagarian bounty hunters Katar and Shayera Hol. The main plot of the movie would involve an escalation of tensions between humans and metahumans, with United Nations chairperson Vandal Savage attempting to broker peace along with King Arthur of Atlantis and Diana, the fledgling ambassador from the league. At the same time, the government would form the Checkmate organization as a response to rogue metahuman activity, enlisting the design and scientific aid of the condemned felon Lex Luthor. Vandal Savage would manipulate Lex Luthor into freeing Despero, and using Despero against J'onn J'onnz, turn several key leaguers rogue. The rogue leaguers would be opposed by Diana, Batman and his group of new recruits: Oliver Queen and Dinah Lance. and the aid of the Thanagarian bounty hunters who had been secretly on Earth, trying to locate and contain Despero amidst spreading alien paranoia. The Justice League would end up fighting it's own, as well as many liberated metahuman felons (familiar "classic" villains from the DCU). But by the end of the movie, the damage would have been done, and the league would have been forced to disband as the world began to fear their power.

The third movie in the franchise, THE JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRISIS would feature a world where, after the events of the previous film, rebellious metahumans were out of control, a la KINGDOM COME, and the United States government's reaction was swift: a full force unleashing of the Checkmate initiative. Several private businessman would be working behind the scenes to bring back The Justice League in some fashion (Ted Kord and Max Lord) despite political pressures on metahumans. In the midst of this chaotic political turmoil, the disbanded and disenchanted heroes would be alerted to a threat of cosmic proportions, the arrival of a mysterious destructive entropic force that was sweeping through the Universe, destroying entire planets. The league would have to leave Earth and travel to Thanagar, New Genesis and several other worlds in an attempt to stop this destructive force from consuming the Earth even as tensions between humans and metahumans escalated to fever pitch. The movie would climax in a massive battle aboard the mysterious villain's starship, several key sacrifices in the defense of The Earth, and a rebirth of the Justice League itself, complete with various global embassies and oversight committees across the world.

The main players in the franchise would be Superman, Diana, J'onn, The Flash, Green Lantern, Batman, Aquaman and Plastic Man, each who would have a relevant three-film character development arc, with supporting roles for Green Arrow, Black Canary, Hawkman and Hawkgirl, and minor roles for Black Lightning and Firestorm, as well as appearances from Snapper Carr, Ted Kord, Maxwell Lord, and various DCU metahumans.

Do you really think you have writing abilities?

Boy, that's a loaded (and vague, as it can be interpreted several different ways) question. Why?

Does Superman even exist in the reality established in the Batman Begins & Dark Knight movies or would he only be considered a work of fiction in those movies & vice versa? There was never a link made in any of the 2 franchises where Superman knew or heard of Batman's existence & vice versa, so wouldn't there first have to be new stand alone movies made for each character before they are ever considered being brought together in a Justice League movie?

according to nolan he doesnt want super powered heroes in the world he created so that would be a no. Plus with superman we dont even know for sure what is going to go on there. IS wb going to gamble with singer once again and turn out another half assed superman film, are they going to go a complete and total clean slate reboot with totally new cast/crew, or are they going to try to do a reboot/prequel/requel with routh in.

No one knows for sure on this. Plus what many tend to keep on forgetting wb/dc are in legal battles with the sigels and shusters heir over the copyright on superman character. And as of right now the sigels have 50% and wb/dc have the other 50% share. But come 2013 shuster's heir can go to court against wb/dc and take over their 50% share on the character, and if that does happen and its very likely even to happen. Bye bye superman from dc comics and any other wb/dc media sources unless wb/dc can work out a deal between the families and that is also likely not to be a sure thing there cause the families are very against wb/dc over the decades of mistreatment the creators where given.

A lot of great ideas here.

Personally speaking I wouldn't mind if the White Martian tale from the first arc Of Grant morrison's JLA run was used and tweaked to where the heroes involved had never met each other before but these powerful entities bring them together, get brought down but its later revealed (towards the end of the movie) that many more of the powerful/shapeshifting white Martians are still out there which would give the League an incentive to stay together after the battle. Sort of a {new} Battle Star Galactica, Secret Invasion, first Justice League (from the 60's Brave and The Bold days) incarnation blend that has enough of everything (if only in my imagination) to move a film along in that "Summer Blockbuster" way. I also would prefer not to see a lot of back story and such. Hopefully all the players would just show up - "Hey, it's Flash" , "Hey, there's Wonder Woman" - introduce themselves to each other and the audience just enough and then go to work.

Of coursechances are when they get around to it they'll do things the complete opposite of what I imagine but I want to be of a mind to enjoy and devour it anyway:cwink:.

Time will tell.

The white martians would actually be a good threat for an origin movie. Can someone resume Grant Morrison's arc so i can know what happens exactly? (I don't have the comic books. :csad:)

I like (and by that I mean hate) how people say "Brandon Routh is better than Tom Welling" as a reason for Routh to play Supes again. Like...come on, it isnt very hard to be better than Welling. Doesnt mean Routh was any good... Routh was wrong for one very big reason. He wasnt playing Superman. He was playing Christopher Reeve playing Superman. Lets get some new blood to bring Supes to life.

...oh yeah, I forgot to ask. What's wrong with Tom Welling? I think he's swell.

"Smallville" is awesome, but i can't look at him and think of Superman. Maybe because he've been playing a teen for five seasons, i always think of him as a teenager (And yes, i know he's mid-30s).

I would't be against it, because he is very supermanish in the new season, but i'd have to wait and see. If they make him like that Alex Ross painting, then i'd like to see it.

The White Martian saga in a nutshell went:

A new group of super heroes were showing up and not only saving people but making the world better (allowing crops to grow in barren lands, ilegally eliminating brutal dictatorships, etc) and they all had powers that rivaled or maybe even exceeded that of Suprman's, Wonder Woman's, etc. It would later turn out that the Heroes were pale skinned Martians from Mars (like J'onn J'onnz). Long description short: they essentially took over the Earth and we later learned that there were hundreds more in waiting (the group of "heroes" were made up of seven I think) and it took a combination of strength, ingenuity and team work (it was Batman who eventually deduced that the Heroes were indeed Martians) to beat the threat back.

Again, with some tweaking I imagine the premise would make for a good introductory movie at least ONE person would pay to see:cwink:.

I'd agree with that until this season. All the actors found the right balance.

How would I go about it? It' simple, wait a LONG time.

I can wait for a JL film. In fact, I could care less. Concentrate on the stand alone heroes, establish them in their own films, wait until Nolan's films are done.

Let's face it, we won't be seeing this thing for years to come.

Yes, whe will.

Justice League is a great concept and, worked out correctly (Like Justice League: Mortal was shaping up to be), it can even be more sucessfull than The Dark Knight.

actually justice league mortal was looking to be more superfriends material then justice league.

I'd use the Demon's Three as the initial (and ultimate) menace. A magician character, possibly the Phantom Stranger. possibly John Constatine, or perhaps Zatara gets word to Flash, Superman, Aquaman, Batman and the Martian Manhunter that Felix Faust is preparing to release ancient demons bound here for aeons.

Menace dealt with. Demons rebound to their items. Except. The heroes don't know they have to keep the demons silenced. As soon as the heroes leave they speak and plan.

"I did not think mortals could become so powerful."

"The two most powerful were not from this world."

"A small detail. That mortals can attain such power was the point he made brother."

"They are not powerful enough however, to free us unless the stars are right and that will not be for 11,231 years 273 days 14 hours, 18 minutes and 30 seconds from... Now. But were there MORE of them -"

"Indeed I see where your thoughts lead brother, were there more of them -"

"Battling, expending their force - the chaos! This intrigues me my brothers. We increase their numbers, with those who are somewhat sympathetic to our natures..."

"But as we are but three, one in nine will oppose us!"

"And oppose the 8 we create providing more battle and other benefits."

"Once freed again, with time to attune ourselves to this existence and this age, we shall be far beyond whatever opposition may face us here."

The Demons speak in unison to work magic. 8 villains are created for every hero, which is a decent ratio. Side bit: One of the demons chastizes another "A fancy costume and trick mirrors. A fancy costume and trick tops, a fancy costume and trick boomerangs, a fancy costume and the name Trickster so no specific theme is needed? Can you not be more creative Brother?"

And the three also steal the energies released by heroes and villains alike.

The movie gives short glimpses of character and character growth between a LOT of fight scenes. Years pass, a HUGE fricking super hero super villain battle takes place. For most movies this is the climatic battle scene. Here it's the preliminary. Shortly before the villains are whupped, enough energy has been stolen. The Demons Three are not opposed, in time.

REALLY Big battle as the remaining villains get a power boost and the three Demons wade in themselves.

Yeah, because all Superfriends episodes had an dense, action-packed screenplay about governmental conspiracy, paranoia and betrayal.

Let's be sincere. The only bad thing about the movie was the rumored title and half the cast.

yea the cast was the wrost thing going for mortal, and yes some story elements sounded good but others were not and then we dont know what was really the script before and after miller came in and messed it all up.

Miller did not "messed it all up".

During the WGA strike, he tried to rewrite the script by himself, but Warner Bros. executives did not liked his revisions. After the Strike's ending, the Mulroneys we're summed back to finish the third draft, but the internet buzz killed the movie in the meantime.

Internet buzz didn't kill the JLA film. Budget issues likely did, as well as the success of THE DARK KNIGHT and IRON MAN.
