Karl Urban IS Skurge The Executioner

It wouldn't surprise me if Skurge is just a fighter for Grandmaster. I want Enchantress too but I'm not sure there is much room for the character.

I'm excited. My hope is he's got a multi-picture deal and can be with Amora in the next movie.

I concur. I think a Thor 4 that dealt with King Thor fending off internal attacks focusing on Asgard but loosely connecting to the happenings of space would be cool.

I've been waiting for Enchantress and Executioner since before the first Thor came out. Glad they're finally getting around to at least one of them.

Hopefully Hulk throws down with Skurge, and they all ban together against Surtur?

Damn, all we need is Surtur (which regardless, I assume would stay hidden till release) and Amora.

Two characters away from potential nerdgasm

Awesome news...

As for Enchantress...well I doubt we'll see her in Ragnarok....but again, who knows...Maybe Marvel will give us a tease of her character. I say Natasha Henstridge should play her since she's so great being a seductress...like...seriously, this woman is just...really something...plus she's Canadian :p

With the likes of Rachael McAdams and Cobie Smulders ... It would be awesome to see Henstridge in the MCU and she said she would love to do a comic book character. Plus she did Time Jumper for Stan Lee...so...anything could happen...Besides, if not Enchantress, then some other character that shows her range.

I still want to see Lady Death and I was hoping Eva Green would be great but damn, it would be incredible to see most of my favorite actresses in the MCU plus other actors...Ewan McGregor should play a role...Keira Knightley too...the list just goes on. lols

It's too bad they can't get any of the guys from "Black Sails" into these Thor films. There's some real bad mofos on that show like Tobey Stephens and Tom Hopper.

I could totally picture Stephens as Skurge.

Ray Stevenson who plays Blackbeard also plays Volstagg.

Tom Hopper would make a good Balder.

Can't wait to see Skurge

Stevenson was in Thor "before" he ever joined the Black Sails cast though. I was referring to the others. In fact there are so many actors between that show and "Spartacus" that I was hoping Marvel would eventually sniff around.

Seems like most the Spartacus actors ended up on the CW shows.

I second that... if we don't see her at all in Ragnarok...or if we do get a tease...I say save Amora for Thor4

Why are people of the assumption Thor is getting a 4th movie? This will definitely be Hemsworth's last Thor film.

The two flagship characters Iron Man and Captain America didn't, and aren't getting a 4th. Don't see why Thor would be different

Why would Captain America have gotten a fourth film? We literally just had his third.

As for Iron Man 4 we've heard people, including RDJ, say that there are possibilities. It's not a done deal either way.

I'm not assuming anything. But, Hemsworth has expressed a willingness to extend his contract after it's up, so it's definitely a possibility at least.

So what? If it doesn't happen. ..fine..but if they try to squeeze a few more characters into this film...and they don't spend enough time to develop them and not see them again in any future marvel film...then it would be a let down. It has happened but I'm not going to waste time arguing about it when it doesn't always bug me. I always tend to enjoy most of the films as they are for the most part

So far the royal family seems to have a monopoly on enchanted weapons in Asgard, so do you guys think Skurge will have his enchanted axe (Bloodaxe) in this film?

Also, how buff do you think Urban will/should get for this? Should he try to put on Hemsworth level mass, or just definition?

I can't see him not having the axe. He needs to have a weapon that can match Thor's hammer in some way, right? As for Urban's size? He's already a big dude. Remember we just learned about the casting. They probably had him locked in for a while now so he likely has been doing some gym work. Not to mention costuming and make up will add to his look. I am confident in Urban's work ethic and commitment.

Good points. Man, I can't wait for this to start filming so we can get some set photos!

Cool. There was a time I wanted Karl Urban to play Emil Blonsky the Abomination after I saw him in Bourne Supremacy.

After the news that Sharon Stone is to play a character in the MCU, and speculation that she could end up playing Janet Van Dyne, what's to say that she lands the part of Amora instead? Is there a certain age for Amora to be or would it be better if she were of a similar age to Hemsworth? I suppose though, that Amora does need to be strikingly beautiful and Stone's better years are well and truly gone. Hope we do see Enchantress though. I'm sure Skurge would be better served as Amora's right hand rather than a fighter for the Grandmaster, but hey who knows... :)

I highly, highly doubt they'd have Stone playing Enchantress, it's at least twenty years too late for that. When Cate Blanchett was first linked to this movie, some were speculating that she was going to be Enchantress and people were complaining then, saying that she's too old, and Stone has at least a decade on her.

I'm pretty sure the Janet van Dyne thing has been effectively debunked too, Stone is apparently playing a small role that will be a superheroine with heat powers, so some are speculating that she will be Nikki in Guardians 2, if they are indeed planning to feature the original Guardians.

I honestly don't think Amora is going to be in Ragnarok, I think if she was her casting would have been announced already, considering filming now starts in less than a week. Also, there's already so much to cram into this movie that I really don't see how she'd fit into it at this stage, unless she were going to play a very small, insignificant role and I can't see her fans being happy about that.

I think that a) either a lot of her characteristics will be combined with Hela to make more of a composite character; or b) she will show up in a later MCU movie, it doesn't even need to be a Thor movie because it could be explained that Amora is an Asgardian that was banished to earth centuries ago due to her villainy. She could pop up in a Doctor Strange movie or as a member of the Masters of Evil in an Avengers movie, there are lots of opportunities.

I also think that in Ragnarok, Skurge will be Hela's obsessionally devoted henchman, rather than Amora's. Karl Urban has already said that Skurge has a really good character journey in the film, so I think he'll end up betraying Hela (when it finally hits home to him that he's little more than a disposable tool to her) and help Thor and the good guys, sacrificing himself in the process, bringing in elements of his awesome 'he stood along at Gjallerbru' storyline from the comics. It would be a shame to lose the character after only one film, but it would be a really great (and tragic) character arc.

When was it confirmed Stone wasn't going to be Janet? I missed that. Links/source?

I don't think Marvel is all that concerned about people thinking she's too old. The more immediate reason Stone isn't Enchantress is she said A) her character is a hero and B) that they have heat/melting powers.
