Kenneth Branagh to direct Thor

Nicolas Cage with a bad toupee.... err I mean wig.

Chewy, what i hear is better than all this speculation some guys live for on this board. Thor is a project i am close to but may NOT be involved in IF the individuals i deal with/work for do not get hired (so there goes your ******** theory). That is the only reason i am able to hear a few things 2nd hand, now to answer your question....2 names i heard an offer WILL go out to are actors we know, both are over 6'1 and are considered A list type people and neither have blonde hair!!! That is all i can say....

If they turn marvel down, then we get to some of the names that have been mentioned on here... here's hoping for the best and preparing for whatever :whatever:

Surely you'll excuse my being skeptical. Even if this is legit, you've got to realize how easy it would be for anyone to come on and claim "insider knowledge". But you seem to persistently come back so, for now, I'm operating under a "wait and see" policy :cwink:

I have a feeling that Thor is causing Marvel headaches - they need the pre-cap release and should have made announcements by now (certainly before the Cap director was anounced)

I wonder if a number of people were lining up for cap, that were also being considered for Thor, but Cap was their preference. Now that Cap is locked down it free's up that list for Marvel to look at Thor.

However ...

Realistically this is a hit or miss project - it will take a brave director to take it on.

I'm not sure what you're getting at here... JJ wasn't one in a line of directors for Cap, he's the one director they've been talking to for two years now. And Thor already has a director, Branagh. Are you trying to say that Cap is the priority project based on them "officially" confirming JJ? How does that make any sense? If they had sent out a little press release confirming Branagh, then Thor would be the priority? Thor IS the priority for now (after IM2), since it has a 2010 release.

Also, IM2 and THOR will film almost at the same time, maybe 2mths apart between starting & finishing. Since all marvel movies will be filmed on the same lot/raleigh studios.... SOME avengers stuff will/may start as early as next year too.... REMEMBER, 4 characters are already cast (thor, im/war machine, hulk, nick fury) some scenes can actually be filmed next year for the avengers. Most likely Jon Faverau will direct.... so it makes sense... that's it for me see u guys at the end of the year. (hopefully we will have our thor by then)

:wow: Jake G doesn't even have close to the right face for Thor, imo. Hopefully if he's actually offered it he turns it down.

wow, chewy your good!!!

ok, no more from me.... let's see where the chips may fall... :whatever:

No F'in way! I don't like his acting or facial appearance at all. Especially not for a God. He always has this lost look to me. I think you're making this all up because the alternative is too... :waa:

I don´t know... I thought almost the same think when ledger was cast and that turned out very good.

I didn't think Heath could pull off the joker either, but I always thought Heath was a great actor. I liked him in so many movies. I never liked Jake's acting, ever. If I liked a movie he was in, it was in spite of him being there. This duh look in his eyes is just awful.

I really liked him in Jarhead, Zodiac and Donnie Darko. But tastes differ.

I just don't see him as a god.....He is far better fit for say a role as Parker. Which he nearly got, in all honsety can the same guy who was to play SPiderman play Thor.

Me think not. I still say if he was younger and had not played Batman Val Kilmer would have been great!

Timothy Olymplant is more heroic but I can't see him as a blond.

David Wenham played Faramir in LotR, not a big name, but he has the look and the voice.

I have a terrible feeling that my brother said and it might be true, he watched the first 10 minutes of Alexander and saw blonde Colin Farrel (I know...F***!) and he said, "Dude, I bet Marvel gets him as Thor cause of his build and his sweet face so you can start crying now."

I looked at him and was speechless and if BroBlack is right about the non-blonde actor then I could see them asking him.

And then this happens >:waa:

What do you mean by 'had'? I've still got high hopes.

There's no official word out on this yet; I prefer to be upbeat until we actually get proof to the contrary.

I'm sure Marz, just like me, is joking. We are just hoping this doesn't end up with a handsome but untalented star.

I checked out Skarsgard in some stuff and I think he is too thin for Thor. He also looks like Michael Pitt. Too boyish. Looks like Kurt Cobain with that long hair.

Who knows, he could bulk up. He's an okay actor but doesn't have much history in the business, though. And Marvel has been picking actors who have alot of experience and are recognizable names.

SUPERBENITEZ, I haven't given up, just a feeling of getting hit by a truck. :wow: But I've picked myself up, dusted myself off and I'm ready to keep on keeping on because I want it to be awesome. :word:

WeaponXProject, Yeah, I was joking. I won't be crying, I'll be in a bar getting drunk. :woot:

I actually think Collin is good in certain roles, but not period pieces. And I never want to see him with blonde hair again. :down

I can see Skarsgard as Thor (after much weight gainers of course), but if they want a more proven actor I don't think they need an A-lister. A Kevin McKidd "up & comer" type would work well. For an A-lister I can truly see Thor as Butler. I know he doesn't have a square jawline but few do & a beard can disguise that.

I'd rather have Gerald Butler than Skarsgard but that's just me.

Marvel released an image from the Thor cartoon, which will air right after the movie. If they follow the Iron Man pattern, Thor's look in the cartoon will be very close to the movie look.

I can live with that. :oldrazz:

Is that a Bruce Timm drawing or a fake Bruce Timm drawing?

I think that's supposed to be a preview of the art style for the Thor cartoon.

Jake G.........I will puke and cry if he is chosen for Thor. Colin Farell is only slightly better. His last two movies have been bombs! Is Aaron Eckhart in the running? These 2 choices make me wonder if our actor/director has any idea what this movie is all about. Was he a fan before this opportunity? Does he see the massive potential in Thor or just view it as another period piece? Another thing...I'm sure the dialogue will be great, its the action I'm worried about. This could be the film that bridges the Marvel universe or tears it apart. Marvel better ride shot gun pretty hard on this one.

Those '2 choices' are merely speculative names that have been thrown about on this board.

Why then would this have you doubting Branagh?

My advice would be not to take everything you read on here at face value.

I like Colin and Jake but they are very wrong for this role
