Kevin Smith to Direct Cop Out

meet the spartans had a good trailer??????
Now that he mentions it, I remember laughing at something in that trailer. I didn't even laugh at the trailer for Cop Out. But I did laugh at a clip where Morgan punchs the kid in the balls. Wasn't expecting an adult to do that.

Well . . . didn't Meet The Spartans make some money? Just saying.

Also, another POS cop movie this is like, THE MAN with Sam Jackson and Eugene Levy.

COP OUT was awesome. it was a funny funny movie. the audience seemd to dig it lots of laughs, theater was about 3/4 full on the biggest screen. rly funny, gr8 parody/homage (or as tracey says in the movie "HO-MA-J" lol). plus the die hard ref was a cheap laugh and obvious but got a good laugh (traceys doing movie lines while interogating a drug peddler... "yippy ki yay motherf**ker!"/bruce willis on the other side "never saw that movie"). totally fun flick. wont win any awards but its totally entertaining.

A "gr8 parody/homage", huh? Well, I'm sold!

I thought this was pretty terrible. Saw it with my roommate last night, we're both huge Smith supporters and wanted to support the guy, but damn Cop Out was bad. We were even a little drunk and that didn't even help.

Everytime Kevin Smith tries to branch out he fails. I guess that hockey movie with Seann William Scott ain't happening. Time for more Jay, Silent Bob, Dante, and Randall.
Adjusted.

Sad that this is getting panned. I wanted this movie to be good. I mean, it's Bruce Willis in a buddy cop movie. I tend to eat that stuff up. The trailers didn't impress me AT ALL though.

I haven't seen this movie yet; I'll watch it when it's on a movie channel or something.

I'm not going to overreact like some people have and scream "I hate Kevin Smith! OMG he sucks, he's a hack, he's too fat to fly AND make movies, etc." Whatever. I think that most of his movies are enjoyable, and I love SModcast. A really bad movie isn't going to change my opinion on that.

Remember all those times Smith publicly **** on other films, but always fall back on "I'm not talented enough to do something like those dudes - so why bother?" Yeah, we can put that excuse to bed now. It's as bad as everyone says.

it seems people are not prepared to watch buddy cop movies anywhere

I guess those three Rush Hour movies were flops.

I remember the good old days of Lethal Weapon

The first two Lethal Weapon movies were pretty dark.

Oh, where is there a place for fun cop movies like Police Academy

Police Academy is better than this. That's how bad Cop Out is.

That's kind of the thing, none of the schtick that they play so hard for in this movie is really funny.

Morgan isn't funny at all. His only schtick seems to be say things in a loud, exaggerated, obnoxious voice and the audience will find it hysterical. It's like why is seeing him drool like a fiend and say stupid random lines from movies supposed to be funny?

Tracy Morgan needs to start being funny and stop being annoying.

Because if I start to hate him that's seriously going to hamper my fun while watching 30 Rock. :cmad:

If this was called "Tracy Jordan: The Movie," at least it's God awfulness would be intentional.

Saw this last night and was pretty disappointed. It had some pretty funny moments, but overall it was about a 5 out of 10.

So guys, is this "official" now: Cop Out is worse than Jersey Girl?

It looks like it'll probably the most successful Kevin Smith movie though.... It made 18 million on a 30 million budget. Even if it makes 40 mil, it'll be a hit for him.

Yes. It's Smith's worst movie without a doubt.

His highest grossing movie is Zack and Miri with $31 million. So, Cop Out will surpass that easily. It's sad to say but Smith has gone Hollywood on us. It's his worst yet his most successful. Damn.

the reason for the success, however, could be the fact that it has both Tracy Morgan and Bruce Willis, and that the trailer(s) have labeled it an action/comedy bud cop movie. it's not because it's Kevin Smith because this movie is attracting the non-Smith crowd.

This is more of a generic Hollywood type of film that gets released every year so, so it makes sense that it's more accepted by the general public then most Smith films. After all, lame buddy cop films are a dime a dozen now.

I just recently went to see Cop Out, day before yesterday.

I thought it was really funny/enjoyable, it was great to see Bruce Willis playing the wise-cracking/badass cop but he was better in this than in the fourth Die Hard due to less restrictions in swearing and overall better film. Tracy Morgan was funnier than he was in 30 Rock, that has got to do something with him having a smaller role in 30 Rock. :):up:

I think this film is really f***ing underrated because the reviews for the film have been negative-to-average but that is expected for a comedy. To be honest, elitist film critics don't f***ing understand what a good comedy, they mostly like bland/boring comedies.:down:doh:

I was looking forward to it but the reviews worried me a bit. I went to see it anyway, found it really funny unlike the negative reviews.

The f***ing whiny fanboy opinions here, ain't any better than the critics reviews. :whatever::doh:
