Kiersey Clemons IS Iris West

Geez Clemons and Boynton are awesome choices. I'll be happy with whomever gets picked. :ilv:

I hope Kiersey Clemons gets cast. I suggested her before the news came out, and she is pretty funny too. It would be nice seeing a humourous couple in the film. I liked what Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone brought to the Amazing Spiderman movies, it was entertaining and obviously very "cute". I don't like how Iris is a boring and quite a lame character in the tv show. They accidently made Patty a better character than Iris so they had to end that relationship off abruptly.

I'd be cool with Clemons as well. And Iris being Black doesn't bother me at all. It's not like her race has ever been a defining/essential part of her character anyway.

As an aside, I've never really seen Rita Ora in anything. So could someone please explain why so many people here seem to be down on her as an option, I'm curious about that?

She is just hot and has bigger talents than the other actresses' if you know what I mean. That's why people want her. She is just pop star from the UK.

I'm campaigning for Kiersey Clemons.

Cyborg is going to steal Flash's girl!

According to a reddit user, Palmer congratulated her best friend (Clemons) for snagging the female role in the movie.

Yep. Now it's deleted makes me think Clemons has the role wrapped up

Now Ezra's jewish ad lib and bromance with Vic is starting to make sense to me. I'm guessing Barry's supposed to be a jewish Hip Hop head brought up in an urban neighborhood (since his mom is dead and his pop is in jail). NY jews are almost as responsible for the spread of the rap muzaks as us latinos and blacks. I think this is the angle they're going with the character. There's still going to be a lot of familiar elements from the comics (nerdy, forensic scientist, sarcastic). Famuyiwa's been devouring them apparently. But it's seem like they're still incorporating a fresh new spin. If this is direction they're going for then I'm in.

I am pulling for Clemons. Hope she gets cast.

She has such a beautiful demeanor to her. Sexy but also with a nice girl next door look to her. Good actress as well, liked her in Dope

Of course she would get cast. I mean it's really transparent, Rita Ora is pretty much the joke choice and I hate to be that guy, but they would never cast Lucy Boynton because of the ****storm that would follow if they choose a white actress over the other two. So much for white privilege. lol Boynton is on the list so when they end up casting Clemons, they can say they didn't cast her for diversity reasons, but because she was the best actress. Like who are they trying to fool here, they should've just announced Kiersey got the role from the start and that's it.

Is it me or is every time an actress plays a journalist, there always described as tough as nails.

Yeah, I also believe that's the reason why the other two actresses are being mentioned at all, Clemons is pretty much already cast and probably was from the very beginning. I think I'd prefer Boynton, since I liked her in "Copperhead" and am not familiar with Clemons' work (still haven't managed to see "Dope", hopefully I'll get the time to do so this week, as I plan to watch it alongside "The Wood"), but I don't think it was ever a competition, more like throwing one crappy casting choice and one of an actress that looks like Iris from comics on the list to show them covering the ground.

Ummmm question , is Iris West white in the comics?

Yeah, she is.

Wally is black in New 52 though. Not sure if it's still the case after whole Rebirth thing. I can't keep up with DC reboots, nor do I try anymore, to be honest.

Yeah, she is.

If they wanted to stir away from the TV show, they should stick to the comics then? This is just dumb and insulting to Black people

There's only been 2 reboots.

Crisis and Flashpoint.

Rebirth is basically a relaunch where a character from outside the DCU caused major changes to the multiverse when Flashpoint happened.

There's two Wally Wests now. Redhead Wally who is a Flash and is part of the Titans. And his younger biracial cousin Wallace, Kid Flash, who is part of the Teen Titans. They're both named after their grandfather.

Not sure I get what you mean by this. I don't find it to be insulting either way, but I do think it's stupid to follow what was done in a CW TV show in the last few years, instead of sticking to the depiction of the character that was consistent for sixty years in the comics. I find it even sillier in comparison with their decision to stick with white Mera, while racebending her would make a perfect sense for DCEU, and racebend Iris, where it's not really needed. I think it should have been other way around.

I see... thanks.

And I was aware that term "reboot" was inadequate for Rebirth, I was using it loosely as it's pretty much just semantics to me at this point. A matter of fact, Rebirth is even more complicated to wrap head around than any reboot would be.

Yeah, it's beyond transparent. Which they kind of shot themselves in the foot with, because they must be idiots to think people can't see through what they are doing.
