Flags of our Father will KICK ASS.

Man, I hope so. Clint is getting better as a filmmaker IMHO. And it's quite ballsy to be making two films back to back, one from each side of the event.

I think we won't be disappointed

Sure they're nice, but Central Park is absolutely useless and ESB is drawn out too much. Plus his fall is really pathetic.

The Central Park scene was as far from as useless as it gets, it's what the film was all about.
All the carnage came to a sudden stop, at that moment in time, everything but them completely washed away. It was their final moment of joy before tragedy struck.
The ESB should be drawn out since they're holding onto each other as long as they possibly could, and the way his fall was shot was perfect, it was really pathetic in the previous films. No scene (in any film) compares to the feeling I get during that sequence, it was flawlessly executed in every aspect.

It was cool to look at, but how many do we have to see? The One-on-One fight was the only one necessary. The rest was just to show off the SFX.

I don't mind some scenes that are just cool to look at so long as the film isn't consumed by them to the point where the film is robbed of its substance.
IMO PJ is the best filmmaker out there and blending hearfelt emotion and visual spectacle.
Just making it one-on-one would've made for an exciting fight, but less exciting than what's in the film. After taking so long to get to them (which I didn't have a problem with) I think he should treat the audience to some massive, lengthy action setpieces.

It wasn't obvious he was willing to save her by going out in the first place?

Of course, but it is a film set on an island full of massive creatures, of course he's going to have to get through some of them to get to her.

That should have been cut or expanded. The little they had was really meaningless.

Yes, I agree. I didn't care for Jimmy or his relationship with Hayes at all.

I disagree. JP has some very incredible scenes. Sure there may not be a huge stampede or 3 T-Rexes fighting a giant ape, but they looked much better and more believeable than the dinos in Kong.

I don't agree at all, but fair enough, each to his own.

On the bright side, there is a shorter version now that there's a longer one coming out:O

On a side note, people *****ing about "damn you Jackson the theatrical cut was too long and now an extended cut! Blah blah..." It's not up to Jackson, it's up to the studio whether an extended cut comes out or not, you should be *****ing about Universal if it displeases you so much; not to mention it was obvious they were going to do it to boot. The first dvd had no commentary, and Jackson said he filmed quite a bit that wasn't on the original dvd and it was up to Universal whether they'd want to an extended version later on or not(which of course they would).

I hated the added court room scenes in Daredevil. They picked some rapper idiot to play the defendant. It was nice to see Fogey show some independence,
but the evidence they got inditing WoW was obtained illegally. Matt Murdock reads braille in the movie. I know he's blind, so it's realistic for him to do so. But in an interview (Stan Lee: Marvels, Mutants, & Monsters is the title I'm pretty sure), Stan Lee admits that in the comics Matt Murdock's sense of touch was so good he could read a regulair newspaper using his finger tips.

And (this might be ancient news) but I remember the R-rated version of the live-action Spawn movie was only rated R because of an added devil worshipping scene & Spawn ramdomly saying the f-word. (Atleast that was the VHS version anyway.) And there was also a very stupid interview with Todd McFarlane ranting about how much he resented working for Marvel & how brave he was to make his hero black. If you like that sort of thing, look it up somewhere.

The statue doesn't look as high quality as the Gollum one that came with the LOTR DVD. I'll probably still end up getting it anyway.

Yeah, I was hoping for a Kong VS. Rex.

Oh, well.

that's great news, I really hope we get a lot more dino scenes. Kudos to Jackson and company to bring us the extended edition.

I saw the extended scenes..Nothing to be crazy about..A few extra monsters and that's it.

and may I ask where have you seen these extended scenes?

I can't believe I haven't seen King Kong yet. I guess it's good that I haven't bought it yet.

It's a lot better than the 33 predecessor, and ****ing God compared to 1976 version. I highly recommend it. Character development is the key to the film.

Why not? You didn't get round to it or you avoided it on purpose?

I for one don't think the film needs to be any longer, but at least we're talking less than ten minutes, and not 30+ like The Lord of the Rings (which I loved, but those films warranted the extended editions).

I'll be picking this one up. Skipped the original DVD in hopes for this one.

There is about 30 minutes worth of deleted footage.

At least, that's what PJ has said before.

After the Lord of the Rings trilogy I just couldn't bring myself to sit in a theater for 3 hours with all of those lard-asses crunching on their nachos and not being able to smoke without missing key scenes.

So I was gonna buy it just haven't remembered to do it.

King Kong was nothing special, and I'm sure this one will be no different.....

I thought King Kong '76 was special when it came out, so I'm sure I'll enjoy a giant ape that looks more like a giant ape than a sub-par, rickety, twitchy 8 inch tall doll or a man in a rubber suit.:)

IMO King Kong is one of those films that is many times better in the cinema. Even the first hour before they get on the island without the action scenes is suited to a big screen. The Kong Vs Rex fight and most of the other things that happen on the island won't have the same impact on a 50 incher. Not the most constructive information now that the film has finished it's run but there aren't many films that benefit as much from the bigger screen. :(

Definitely buying it when it comes out. Might be alone on this, but personally I loved Kong more than the LOTR films.

The only film that absolutely NEEDS an extended edition is Superman Returns.
