Kong: Skull Island - Part 1

I wonder how the movie ends? Will they just leave Kong there and keep it's existence a secret? Then in Godzilla vs King Kong some government guy says that there might be a way to beat Godzilla. Then they bring Kong from the island to fight Godzilla. Yeah that sounds stupid but I have a feeling that is what they end up doing.

After the first trailer I was hyped for this but this trailer just makes the film look like a mess with too much forced humor.

This is such a gorgeous image, but it's bugging me how shallow that water is :funny:.

As for the trailer, other than John C. Reilly everything looks great. Hope he's not too distracting in the movie.

Look fun, but the trailer didn't really get me hyped.
Preferred the 'baton down the hatches' vibe of the 1st trailer, you know? Like, s**t is going down. Not sure this needed so much comedy from Reilly.

What you guys think about the 1976 version? It could be better but I think it's ok. It has a great musical score and the movie looks good. Kong looks silly walking around but the suit is really well done. There is even a 182 minute long extented version that was only shown on TV. They should release that on Blu-Ray. Now with this movie coming there is hope.

Oh man that looks great! I love John C Rileys part and everything else i am seeing.

The John C. Reilly stuff caught me off-guard. Not too sure how I feel about it yet.

Other than that, great trailer and awesome Kong visuals.

This reminded me a bit of the 1998 Godzilla movie. But man it looks pretty.

Ohhhh all kinds of monster madness
I knew there would be some humor in there cheesy or not
John C. Reilly rockin that crazy beard
IM IN

It looks visually incredible! :wow: It was also interesting how early Kong shows up in the trailer and how much we see of him, framing the story a bit differently than I was expecting.

The shot of him walking through the water was jaw dropping!

I really don't know what to make of that trailer. Was not expecting that tone.

Yeah, the teaser was foreboding where as the moment John C Reilly pops up as a comedic riff on Colonel Kurtz, everything goes in a different direction tonally.

Agreed. Also a couple of shoddy CGI Kong shots.

Reilly kinda ruined it for me.

IM trying to watch less trailers but when I heard about how weird the tone is I checked the new one out.

Yeah the tone is a bit off for me. John C Reily seems like he's in a completely different movie. Totally out of place. It kinda reminds me of Laurence Fishburne in Predators.

I dont get why so many blockbusters have a problem with humor, either too much or too little or in the wrong places

This still looks cool, but I'm a bit put off by Reilly's character. Im glad I watched though because if I went into the movie expecting something along of the first trailer I'd be pissed.

Marvel type forced humor. Character's are trying to be funny to other characters and are smiling. i like the type of humor that is in the first part of the trailer ''Is that a monkey?''. He is asking a serious question with a serious face. To us it is funny. If you do not understand that this is in the last 6-8 years ''marvel type'' humor than i dont know how to explain it. IMO it would be better if John C. Reilly was in the context of the story full on crazy and acting crazy around everyone else ....and we laugh. But to try to make jokes to other people? I understand studios. Marvel is making money by having very carismatic characters who throw around 2 jokers per minute. Yes it is one of the reason why they are successful. But come on.

Everything else looks very good to me.

Well, that was ok, but nowhere near as good as the first trailer... and I agree with the general sentiment about Reilly's character. At least Kong himself still looks great, I really love his design.

And hooray for random giant cows.

Kong looks great I didn't mind Reilly at all I don't want a straight drama like we've always had to me anyway it's a welcomed addition

The Movie has a Great Cast butt at the end i give a **** because i watch and will LOVE this Movie because of Kong and the Monsters of Skull Island

I don't think that's the issue here.

I'm all for levity in a monster movie, something I thought Godzilla lacked, but it just feels incredibly forced in this (minus the "you shouldn't have come here" part, I actually chuckled at that).

No one is saying make it a straight drama

There's a way to have humor and not have it come across as forced and awkward as the trailer

Will Brie Larson say something in the actual movie?? That's now 2 trailers where she says nothing. Isn't she an Oscar winner?? Give her some lines, damn it.

This is the second time in a row a movie's done this. Marvel pulled the same crap with Age of Ultron with not showing dialogue for Scarlet Witch in it's trailers.

They're obviously trying to give it more of a slightly campy satirical 70s monster flick vibe. I personally like it.
