Good trailer, good action, great visuals, oddly cut and edited but it just a trailer. There will be plenty more.

There's a way to have humor and not have it come across as forced and awkward as the trailer

I agree hopefully it doesn't feel that way when the movie releases

only line that seem forced was "were all going to die here"

I think some of the "off" feeling with the humor and it feeling forced, comes from the audio and video of some lines being from different takes. I actually like what I'm seeing. I think it's a badly-conceived trailer, but the movie looks solid and fun.

This is the second time in a row a movie's done this. Marvel pulled the same crap with Age of Ultron with not showing dialogue for Scarlet Witch in it's trailers.

Not many people know this but Brie Larson is mute. Mark Hamill does the vocal part of her performance.

I knew Brie Larson was mute when I said "Marco" and she didn't respond with "Polo".

I'm really digging John C Reilly's stuff, actually. I see it fitting in and balancing out the intensity of the actual film, but again, that trailer is badly edited and all over the tone spectrum.

Teaser felt like a man vs nature flick. It was amazing. This is step brothers meets Jurassic world. Very disappointing. I mean very. This was cringe worthy.

They blatantly recycled some of the CGI from the MUTO's in Godillza to create the skull crawlers. smdh

This was some weird smorgasboard of trying to be funny, a monster flick, but also Apocalypse now. Not sure I'm feelin' it. I'll probably end up seeing it because it has a good cast, but still.

Trailer was good until reily shows up but there are some really good shots in the trailer

This looks like it can be more fun than Godzilla. I'm glad they didn't shy away from showing the monsters in the trailer. Give the people what they want. John C. Reilly's character does change up the tone, but I love him in everything I've seen him in so I'm not too worried.

And if the Apocalypse Now references aren't on-the-nose enough, Peter Jackson's King Kong had some blatant references to Heart of Darkness, which Apocalypse Now drew inspiration from.

Yeah, watching it again, Reilly is really killing whatever mood or atmosphere they're trying to create here. There's no weight to the destruction when you've got him laughing, "LOL you totes shouldn't have come here, brahs!"

Here's hoping there's more to his character than just being that guy who has to be funny every time he opens his mouth. Otherwise, color me concerned.

I want levity in the film, I wasn't hoping for a no levity allowed Zack Snyder DC film but I damn sure wasn't hoping for some awkward scenes where John C Reilly is acting like he's in an Adam McKay movie. Either this is a horribly cut trailer or this film is going to have some major tonal issues.

I liked the trailer, but I agree that John C. Reilly's character seemed a bit out of place and I thought it was weird that Brie Larson didn't have any lines.

My point is, Larson is not the star of this film. Larson was only a well reviewed indie actress before the Oscar win. I think Larson will have a good sized role but I think she is going to be "the girl" of the film. Not saying it's going to be a bad version of that character because I don't know.

The fact that most people on here are iffy about it means it will make millions with John Q. Moviegoer. I forwarded this thing to my dad and responded with "we definitely gonna see this."

Who said that my not caring for the trailer meant that I thought it was going to flop? I didn't care for the Ghost in the Shell trailer either but I think that movie is going to be a hit. I think Skull Island could be very successful. There's a difference between myself not liking the trailer for a film and myself thinking that it's going to fail because I don't like the trailer. I'm not that egotistical.
