Krypton Krypton - General Discussion Thread

I really enjoyed last night's episode. It was incredible seeing Brainiac in live action.

I liked seeing more of the cityscape, the dome, the reference to Argo City etc., pure Superman/Krypton stuff.

The only real "filler" has been some of the seemingly pointless Adam Strange stuff that was clearly re-worked into the show to give the show more of a Superman connection and less of a Snyder-verse connection. I would have really liked to see the original vision for the show.

While I don't mind the character and the actor his absence in the episode did give more focus to the other characters and to the main plot.

Wasn't Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman supposed to be making an appearance in this show?

The plan was if the show continued they would feature characters like Hawkwoman and the Green Lantern Corps and expand Adam Strange 's role, showing more worlds through space travel and the Phantom Zone.

While this all could be nice, I am here more for the Krypton stuff, the pure Superman lore, the characters from his world (so to speak.)

That was a highly entertaining episode. My only complaint was Lyta siding with Zod like that. Just seemed off. Considering how big things have become and how much of a united front is needed.

When they didn’t say it before, I was thinking we would never know who Zod’s father was. I figured if it wasn’t Seg or even Dev, then it didn’t really matter. Heh.

With how things have gone so far, I was actually prepared for Momma Zod to win that challenge, which clearly would’ve happened if not for Lyta.

Brainiac was great to see. I was thinking we would see that form in the season finale.

Lyta's mum sacrificed a lot to save Lyta's life and for Lyta to just forget that and side with Dru-Zod...

Then again Seg seems to have fallen for Nyssa, moved on from Lyta, while I am not sure about Lyta's feelings for Dev...

And Jor-El and Dru-Zod are half-brothers...

It's a soap opera already :p

Right? And let's not forget no one can stop Doomsday as far as we know.

I wonder if Superman knows how much drama his family has on Krypton. I can just imagine him listening to AI Jor-El like "Yeah... so while my dad was married to Nyssa he was also in love with this one woman named Lyta. And... uh... and I have a half-brother. His name's Dru-Zod and he's kinda evil but don't worry about him. I put him in the Phantom Zone for trying to take over the planet." This is all while AI Lara is just at the side shaking her head and rolling her eyes at that mess.

Season 2 is a-go.

http://variety.com/2018/tv/news/krypton-renewed-season-2-syfy-1202818657/

“Krypton” has been renewed for a second season at Syfy ahead of the show’s first season finale on May 23.

The second season is expected to air in 2019. The series is averaging 1.8 million viewers in Live+3. It is Syfy’s most-watched debut season of an original series since “Ascension” in 2014 and the most-watched season of any scripted series on the network since “Defiance” in 2015.

With Syfy behind the helm, they'll likely cancel it before long. I predict three seasons.

Depending on what story they have to tell, that's all it could really need.

That is good news. However long it lasts, I'm glad they've got a chance to explore Krypton a bit more and do things they probably haven't had the chance to or were afraid to do in Season 1.

Somebody didn't keep a close eye on Doomsday. Also, not too surprised that with Krypton now being what it is that we'd end with the 'Kneel before Zod' line.

HE SAID THE LINE!!! :woo:

Well, that was a fun finale. Also loving how unhinged Colin Salmon was looking in that last scene. I am also wondering if Nyssa's son is actually Jor or Zor. I had a feeling the cape would reform with the Zod house symbol. I think I am going to enjoy how screwed up the timeline will become.

Here's hoping the big grey guy get's his green suit next season.

Wait so General Zod won in the end by permanently erasing Superman from existence? Well that sucks. First Supergirl and now Krypton; I guess Superman just isn't meant to have a place outside of the films.

So I guess Krypton is going to be an alternate timeline/reality where Superman was never born then?

I am willing to bet the entire show is about resetting the timeline.

Resetting as in starting a new timeline where Superman no longer exists or getting the future back to the way that it originally was where he does exist?

The other thing that I'm wondering about is why didn't General Zod vanish from existence? If he really is Seg-el's son, then he should have vanished from existence the moment Seg was taken to the PZ.

Maybe he's a natural born Kryptonian and Lyta is already pregnant with him.

Crazy episode.

Liked all the Brainiac stuff, the genesis chamber stuff, the Fortress and Phantom Zone...

This show never takes you where you expect. That's good for the most part. But this show has no chill :p

Interesting revelations about Nyssa-Vex. I like all that character stuff that's also tied in to the Krypton lore from the comics (e.g. Nyssa's stuff felt a bit John Byrne-era.)

It feels quite jumbled now, especially Lyta and her grown up son Dru-Zod who hasn't been born yet. It feels very Elseworlds.

I wonder what Jayna will be up to in Season 2. What will she do about Dru-Zod's reign? How does Dev-Em feel about it? He doesn't look completely happy. And Lyta would have regrets.

Like that Jax and Val are teaming up.
