KUNG FURY II is happening!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with a fun bit of Sunday news. This past year a film went "viral." The week FUNG FURY hit the Internet it was like everywhere you turned, every time you got on Facebook, or swung by a friend's place, "Have you seen KUNG FURY? You have got to watch it!" When I first caught the film's Kickstarter Page, I thought it was for a feature, though I think it that was just wishful thinking on my end. Sure enough the film came and delivered and folks wanted more. The retro nostalgia-filled "inviting everyone in on the cheesy joke" angle has been done before, but something about David Sandberg's stab at it felt fresh, where the film didn't wear out its welcome or get tiresome. The short film did an incredible job of twisting and turning, though had a playground where it was allowed to do so. Talking Dino cops, time travel, and synth music galore... it was a gem.
Well, according to Sandberg's Twitter account, we're all getting round 2 of his FURY franchise. Can he duplicate the first film's success? Where will this one go? How long will it be? What characters can we expect to see? Is he going back to the crowd sourcing well for it? Who knows?

SO glad this is happening. I can't wait to see what Sandberg does in part 2. I hope there's more time travel involved.

Michael Fassbender to Star in Feature-Length ‘Kung Fury’

Michael Fassbender will star in David Sandberg’s action-comedy “Kung Fury,” which Sandberg will also star in and produce under his Laser Unicorns’ banner.

As previously announced, David Hasselhoff will join the cast following his role in the original short film “Kung Fury.” The short, which gained a cult following, was partly funded on Kickstarter and was selected for Cannes Directors Fortnight. The feature-length project, which will be a sequel to the original short, is shooting this summer.

The original short film, written and directed by Sandberg, pays homage to 1980s martial arts and police action films.

The feature film will be set in 1985 in Miami, which is kept safe under the watchful eye of the police officer Kung Fury through his Thundercops police force. After the tragic death of a Thundercop causes the group to disband, a mysterious villain emerges from the shadows to aid in the Fuhrer’s quest to attain the ultimate weapon.

David Katzenberg, Seth Grahame-Smith, and Aaron Schmidt will produce under their KatzSmith Productions banner, which produced “It.” Philip Westgren of B-Reel Films and Conor McCaughan will also produce. Pelle Strandberg is executive producing on behalf of Laser Unicorns.

Bloom will handle international sales and introduce the film to buyers at the Berlin Film Festival. Endeavor Content and CAA will handle North American sales.

Fassbender is a two-time Academy Award nominee for his roles in Danny Boyle’s “Steve Jobs” and Steve McQueen’s “12 Years a Slave.” Hasselhoff is best known for playing Mitch Buchannon on NBC’s “Baywatch” and for his lead role on “Knight Rider”.

Fassbender is represented by CAA and Troika. Hasselhoff is represented by ICM Partners. Sandberg is represented by WME and Voyage and attorney Alan Sacks at Frankfurt Kurnit. Katzsmith is represented by WME.

I think the dislike has more to do with Fassbender squandering away his potential in more dramatic movies and signing up for this movie.

Fassbender movie will probably be awful, no one should decompress this thing and give it better effects, it will be more like that Whoopi Goldberg movie; Theodore Rex.

Oh, man. I completely forgot that movie existed. That was during that period of time where a terrible Whoopi movie seemed to come out every couple years. I remember one really bad one where they put her in this awful make up to look like an old white man. And another one where she was put in charge of managing a professional basketball team. The Terminator is learning Kung Fu. Arnold Schwarzenegger is joining the cast of hot Berlin title Kung Fury. The former governor of California is to star alongside Michael Fassbender and David Sandberg in the action comedy.
