Lee Bermejo and Brian Azzarello's Joker Graphic Novel

I'm so unhappy about having to wait for this. The more I read the more I want it in my hands asap.

I happen to like the way Harley is described as being portrayed, at least for this book. After her own series and just endless ridiculously goofy persona I'm ready for a complete spin. She seems more ruthless, less silly, and more of a victim, which I think will be a little bit of a nice change for her. She's willing to do anything for her man and is happy to degrade herself if it means getting to stick by him a little longer. She's mad, delusional, Harley and most likely miserably grateful to be so.

I'll definitely picking this up.

Two-Face is depicted as a powerful gangster who feels more threatened by the Joker coming back than afraid of him. I feel that the Two-Face in this story stayed the most true to the roots of the character with regards to the other re-interpretations of villains.

Hmm, that's good news. Although I'm sure a few folks won't like Harvey being a gangster. But can't wait to see this.

I don't mind Harvey being depicted as a gangster. I just never really understood that jump from obscure justice to organized crime. They really should cover why Two-face decides about that.

i'm still confused about this release date .... is it coming out the 29th or in november ?

agreed. Though if i had to guess, i would guess that Dent always had a massive ego, and his "accident" convinced him that justice doesen't exist, and so he just goes after power.

The theory I thought of was that Harvey wanted to replace the crime element with his type of organized crime as a way of protecting his city. I think that would be an interesting aspect that really needs to become explored.

Actually you'd be surprised how often this is said as his motive and exactly why the crime boss Two-Face totally works. It's all about how he is enforcing his own control over Gotham, believing it to be for the greater good. He says something similar in No Man's Land as a war lord too.

OK, I've decided: I'm ordering this. And everything I see says November 4.

I'm too old to be doing this.

I asked my local comic shop to hold this back for me. Seriously they're full up on pre-orders. Now I have to wait an extra week.

Damn.

Has someone at DC Comics used my fan art?

I was sent this today, some new Joker comic, this panel features a Harley Quinn design that looks amazingly similar to a photo manipulations I did in 2007. I’ll let you be the judge.

New Joker Comic

My photo manipulation from June 2007

Coincidence? Accident? Rip off? I’ve emailed DC Comics asking for a please explain on this situation, I hope to have answers as soon as possible.

UPDATE: Just on a personal note, if this is just some accident then I hope that DC are willing to do the right thing and admit to the error, I’d be more than happy to accept an apology, I’m hoping this is all it is. However if this is just a straight rip off of my concept, then it’s a real kick in the guts, as a fan of DC I love nothing more than giving my own spin on their characters, if DC had said to me “We want to use your design” I would have been absolutely blown away, just having my design in an actual DC comic would have been awesome, but it’s disappointing to think that they may have just used it without considering crediting where the idea came from, I want this to not be the case. I’m hoping DC are willing to explain this situation to me.

How old is the design? Early '07? Bermjeo was well underway with the art before the first pic of Heath was released.

They will probablly throw the "we own the characters" on him anyway.

You're not the first one to do a "punk" Harley, and its a stretch to say you've been ripped off.

lol... you weren't ripped off. Bermejo was working on this book before even work on TDK was started up.

are you serious?

both designs are similar to be sure but neither is very original or unexpected.

and as some have mentioned you have no rights to dc's property. none. im sure bermejo doesnt go browsing shh for ideas not to mention he has been working on that book far longer than june 2007.

and like i said there are simialrities but they are not close enough for me to think there was something other than coincidence or both of you tapping into the collective zeitgeist.

if i were you i would just pleased that your ideas were similar to a professionals.

great minds think alike?

they really arent that close anyway imo.

Didn't he start this years ago and DC just shelved the project?

No, he and Azzarello began work two years ago after their Luthor book. It's just taken a long time to get it finished, but I don't think it was ever shelved.
