With my preferences for these characters leaning toward their
classic modern-age incarnations, sometimes I feel like it is not really going to be anyone's cup of tea. So I'm always pleasently surprised when people express an appreciation for what I've done.
I'm a High School performing arts teacher here in NYC, and I'm actually producing a semi-biographical summer stage play about Bob Kane and Bill Finger with some of my students. It's going to be titled
FATHERS OF THE DARK KNIGHT
Naturally, the play will feature appearances by the main cast of Batman characters (during the fictional portions of the play). Of course, I
designed the characters and sets to appear as I prefer to see them in their classic incarnations.
And while many people who have seen my designs have been very complimentary, others (particularly contemporary comic book fans weened on armor-wearing movie Batmen), just do not care for them.
And really, that's okay.
The nice thing about Batman is that there is something for everyone to enjoy.
