Legion Legion S1E4 - "Chapter 4" (Spoilers!)

This series better start revealing a little more. Seems like it's moving at an ants pace, at least the last one did. I'm loving the creativity of the show and performances do far but they need to pick it up.

For me that is actually one of the major strengths of the show. It doesn't feel like it needs to rush to big action set pieces and just takes as much time as they feel it needs to tell the story they try to tell. :)

I said as much after episode 3. It seems as though we see the same memories over and over with only minor variations. Luckily Hawley is a good writer otherwise the past couple of episodes would have been a major chore to get through.

This show just got a lot more shiny.

the world's angriest boy in the world makes my skin crawl every time he shows up

Okay, this is one of the weirder episodes...

... gonna need to re-watch the Kerry/Cary thing (though I guess I should'a seen a connection coming).

Definitely looking like it.

And the dogs name just clicked. "King"...

Anyone else notice the severe amount of windows doubling as eyes in the lighthouse?

Okay, so Lenny is a manifestation of the yellow guy, right? That's what I got from that.

I bidding force inside David's mind trying to Tyler Durden him (which, begs a different question).

So, yeah, good job Aubrey Plaza...

Oh, thought Aubrey Plaza only was slated for three episodes, but looks like she'll be sticking around? Good.

Really loved the look of the astral plane and for as much as this series is focused on David himself, I really liked spending time with Syd, Ptonomy, and Kerry especially for learning about her connection with Cary.

Yeah, thus far Aubrey's been running away with the show.

Is Dan Stevens playing the yellow guy as well?

Stellar episode! It was bound to happen considering how much time they have left, but I'm really glad we got to see Ptonomy, Syd and Kerry do more things. It's interesting to see them use their powers (as well as the Eye) in their own ways. Makes it more superhero-y.

Jermaine Clement was great and that reveal that his body is frozen under Summerland was a trip. Awesome stuff all around.

Aubrey's just been running away with the show and the last bit at the end where she's forcing David out of his coma was scary! Great to see Aubrey do that range.

Kerry was great, hope she doesn't die. I am also just loving the visual style in this series.

I really like the design of the astral plane. Yeah, it's all probably green screen, but it looks cool for a TV budget.

I'm not sure why, but I actually really didn't like this episode. Editing, story, even some of the acting bothered me. Some of the characters were really meh as well. I have to rewatch and figure out what's up. I am honestly surprised by my own response right now. I've been all over this show.

Edit: Watched it again and took notes this time.
First off all the diving suit and astral plane reminded me a lot of Fant4stic. Oliver looked like that villain from Scooby Doo and I think the astral plane design just didn't really work with the budget they had. They tried their damnest of course, but I don't think there was a way for the floating ice cube above the green to look good, ever. That wasn't really what bothered me though.

For starters Kerry's scenes honestly just didn't work for me. I wasn't sold on any of her scenes at all and her getting shot felt quite unnecessary. Kerry and Cary doing the same moves simultaneously and feeling the same thing also felt like it was there just for this episode and the visual. The dialogue in general felt like exposition quite a few times and there were too much Syd voice-overs. Both Kissinger and Philly felt unnecessary. There are much more interesting people to give screen time to. Lenny is Benny reveal I though was a bit cheap as well and David getting mad felt rushed.

On the positive side... I really liked the opening speech, that was really well done. The visuals when the Eye reveals himself and the soldiers start shooting were really sweet. Same from the Eye / Syd body switch. "We didn't have a dog" unlike the Benny thing, really worked for me. That was a great moment. Aubery Plaza was also really great in this episode. "I don't swing that way bro" and with the demon hand at the end was really great.
