Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham

If Kev is playable, I'll go pre-order this sum***** RIGHT NOW

Not just him, but Geoff Johns and Green Arrow (voiced by Stephen Amell) are also confirmed.

I like Kevin Smith and Geoff Johns (as a writer, anyway), but I have no desire whatsoever to play a Lego version of them in a Lego Batman game.

We need Lego Bruce Timm.

side rant: it still amazes me after all hes done for wb and dc that he doesnt get the praise and recognition he deserves. hell i'd sign him as creative head of the DCMU if it was my way.

at least then youd have someone with experience of building a large medium

anyway this game has sold me easily. now lets just hope the ps4 version price isnt stupidly high like it was with the others

so, will all of these characters be unlocked from the beginning?

or do you typically have to unlock them in game?

He gets tons of praise and recognition. He's not as prominent as some would like, but that's of his own design... he's a notorious grump and doesn't want too much attention.

Most even refer to the DCAU as the Timm-verse and people have signalled his absence as the biggest reason the DC animated movies have been lacking recently.

He has stated that his primary fields are animation and comics, with no major desire to expand out into live-action. He's comfortable where he is working away on a bunch of DC projects.

I haven't been followed the news on his game recently, but nice to see that characters like Swamp Thing, Plastic Man, Beast Boy, Frankenstein and Detective Chimp made it into the game. I hope there are more surprises like Animal Man, Ragman, The Spectre and Zatanna.

Based on past Lego games, you unlock guys as you go through story mode. Lego Batman 2 and Lego Marvel both had 15 stages in story mode. Lego Batman 2 was basically Batman and Robin with Superman unlocking about halfway through and then the rest of the Justice League coming in the last 2 stages. Then there were villains around the open world that when you beat them in a fight, you would unlock for purchase. Lego Marvel had a lot more characters and you basically used 2 or 3 super heroes per stage. Stage 1 was Iron Man, Hulk w/ Spidey joining in for the last 3rd. Stage 2 was Cap, Mr Fantastic w/ Spidey coming in for the last 3rd or so. Stage 3 was Black Widow, Hawkeye and Spidey. Stage 4 was Iron Man, Hulk and Wolverine. The formula continues from there basically with about 25 of the characters unlocked by the time you finish story mode. Each stage would also have a boss that you could unlock when you beat them. The rest of the 150+ characters are unlocked throughout the open world by doing a variety of tasks, races, etc.

and welcome to the Hype!!

Geoff Johns... really? I'm sure the kids can't wait for that one. :o

Question to those who have been following this game more closely than I have: are there many playable female characters in this? My friend is interested in this game, particularly for her daughter, but they'd like it if there was a nice assemblage of female characters for her to play since she doesn't want to play as the boys all the time.

I visited an alternate universe where Geoff Johns didn't exist, and it was a happier place. There was no Barry Allen and Hal Jordan, and there were instead interesting characters in their place. Also, when a character had their arm cut off or a sword through their back and out their stomach, it was shocking, and not increasingly a hilarious self-parody. Also less dark age nonsense.

In case any UK fans missed it... Lego DC Comics: Batman: Be-leaguered airs again today at 5:30 PM (and tomorrow at 3:00 PM).

Troy Baker is back as Lego Batman in a fun filled adventure:
