You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of the imagination. You're entering... The Twilight Zone.

This is an on-going project that I've been keeping an eye on for years, namely for two reasons: 1) Leo is one of my favorite actors of all-time, and 2) The Twilight Zone is one of my favorite TV shows of all-time. The marriage of the two can't come soon enough.

From what I understand, this is an on-going project that is going to finally see the light of day in the coming years, and since there wasn't a thread about it already, I thought this could be the place for all Twilight Zone related business: favorite episodes, favorite performances, news, pictures, etc. Have at it!

Something interesting to note: This is Leo's favorite TV series of all-time, and he's extremely passionate and determined to get this movie made. How awesome would it be if he played the narrator, originally played by Rod Serling?

Cool.

I wonder if the movie will basically be like an extended Twilight Zone episode, or if theyll be going for like a deconstruction of the zone itself.

Well I know me and Figs are huge Twilight Zone fans, I have season 1-3 on Blu ray, can't wait for the others. I would love to see this as a TV series more then a movie though. I think it works best in that format.

I agree. This will probably be a very cool project, but I'd rather see a new Twilight Zone series I could look forward to every week.

The plan is to make one story that fills an entire movie (2 hours), and hopefully, if any sequels are made, each movie in the series will be like its own extended episode. I don't know how I feel about that, since The Twilight Zone works best as "short films", but I trust the talent involved here.

In my opinion, "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" (written by Richard Matheson, directed by Richard Donner, starring William Shatner) is PRIME REAL ESTATE for DiCaprio's talents. A man recovering from a nervous breakdown who is trying to convince his wife that a creature is on the wing of their airplane? Pure suspense and adrenaline, and it could easily be a 2 hour film.

Am I the only one who absolutely LOVED the 2002 revival hosted by Forest Whitaker? It was extremely underrated in my opinion.

Agreed.

Leo, AVOID! This will no doubt end in a DICAPitation.

Yeah, this could be pretty damn cool, and I agree that it would also be just as great if they made a new series.

I imagine the movie would just be like the original one, kind of an anthology.

I have the Definitive Collection. Surprisingly enough I've seen most episodes and hold this series very dear. So while this news does make me happy especially since Dicaprio is involved, i along with any fan of the series hope that its done right....

Agreed, but its been done before:o. However there are many other great episodes that could be worked into a 2 hour film....

Yeah, I hope this does happen. It seems this could drag along, but I would love to see Leo do this. And he would be a great Sterling type character. When I think about it, his Mr. Charles scene with Murphy in Inception was very Sterling-esque. So I think he could pull that off. Sterling is a smooth mother****er and is able to draw you in. His voice is badass.

I'd rather see this next movie more like the '85 film, an anthology of mini movies. That was what was fun about it. I do like the idea of Leo narrating though.

Funny, I was just watching the Twilight Zone yesterday. They put seasons 1-5 on instant Netflix. I always loved the Twilight Zone as a kid, but hadn't seen it in years. I haven't seen anywhere close to all the episodes. I look forward to watching them when I have some free time.

Since Leo's involved I'm confident this new film will be good. But how great would it be is we got a new high-quality TV series? Especially if Leo was involved as the narrator!

This is iconic television, Leo. Dont **** this up. :o

I liked it, I have the 1st (and only season) on dvd, I love that one episode is a 'sequel' to that one that had Billy Mummy as the kid with the 'god like' powers. you see him grown up (played by Billy again) and his real life daughter in the episode and she has the same powers :).

I'd prefer they go for a four story route, but all originals and no remakes, filmed in black and white. And a double hell yeah for DiCaprio for the narrator role.

Hmmmm... :awesome:

NOLAN, OTHERS MAY BE SLIPPING INTO 'THE TWILIGHT ZONE'

Warner Bros. is clearly bent on transporting its untitled TWILIGHT ZONE pic to a higher dimension, as the studio is focusing on top-tier directors — much as it did in its 1983 version. But unlike that pic, which had four helmers steering separate segments, this project will feature a single storyline and one director. Mutual interest is brewing between WB and at least three individuals: Christopher Nolan, Michael Bay and Alfonso Cuaron, Variety's Justin Kroll exclusively reports. (Insiders also say David Yates was on the short list, though his prospects have waned.) Nolan has emerged as the front-runner to get the offer, and though his close relationship with the studio is well documented, it’s not clear whether he’d take on the project, given its similarities to INCEPTION. There’s also a dark horse in the mix: Rupert Wyatt, whose RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES drew rave reviews and more than $400 million worldwide. The 1983 TWILIGHT ZONE pic was split into four stories, each helmed by an A-list director: Steven Spielberg, John Landis (ANIMAL HOUSE) Joe Dante (GREMLINS) and George Miller (MAD MAX).

Bay, keep your filthy ****ing hands off this. :cmad:

Interesting to note that it'll have only focus on one storyline instead of having an anthology like the '83 movie which would've been interesting to see multiple directors doing segments for the new version also but it'd be nice with all of the stories being original but this works too if the story is good. I've a feeling they would go with someone that's not in the short list, don't know why.

WB seeks A-list 'Twilight Zone' helmer
Shortlist includes Christopher Nolan, Michael Bay, Alfonso Cuaron
By JUSTIN KROLL

Warner Bros. is clearly bent on transporting its untitled "Twilight Zone" pic to a higher dimension, as the studio is focusing on top-tier directors -- much as it did in its 1983 version.

But unlike that pic, which had four helmers steering separate segments, this project will feature a single storyline and one director.

Mutual interest is brewing between WB and at least three individuals: Christopher Nolan, Michael Bay and Alfonso Cuaron. (Insiders also say David Yates was on the short list, though his prospects have waned.)

Sources say Nolan has emerged as the front-runner to get the offer, and though his close relationship with the studio is well documented, it's not clear whether he'd take on the project, given its similarities to "Inception."

For Bay, it would be his first opportunity to work with Warner Bros. -- and the studio has long coveted his services, given his track record with tentpole projects. Sources add that Bay and his team are high on the script, but one possible obstacle is his desire to get started on passion project "Pain and Gain," a black comedy set in the world of competitive bodybuilding.

Cuaron also has a relationship with the studio, and the most favorable schedule. He's currently wrapping up production on the space adventure "Gravity" and has not committed to his next project.

While sources tell Variety that Nolan, Bay and Cuaron are the favorites, there's also a dark horse in the mix: Rupert Wyatt, whose "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" drew rave reviews and more than $400 million worldwide. Wyatt, who has also not committed to his next project, is a hot commodity in town.

Leonardo DiCaprio would produce through his Appian Way shingle, along with Jennifer Killoran Davisson and George DiCaprio. Rand Ravich and Jason Rothenberg penned the script, and while plot details are under wraps, sources say the film would be a single storyline that touches on several themes from the Rod Sterling TV show that ran from 1959-1964. The 1983 "Twilight Zone" pic was split into four stories, each helmed by an A-list director: Steven Spielberg, John Landis ("Animal House") Joe Dante ("Gremlins") and George Miller ("Mad Max").

so it's not confirmed that leo wants to star in it? Just produce? If Nolan does it he'll want Leo.
