Le·on·i·das I (lē-ŏn'ĭ-dəs) , Died 480 B.C..
Spartan king (490–480) who led a small force against a huge Persian army at the pass of Thermopylae (480). All of the Spartans, including Leonidas, were killed.
Also, the name of a couple of my good friends' band. Great band of a mix of the Rock/Alternative/Indie genres. Being the resident kiss ass of all my friends that I am, I promote them around the internet, such as I am now, attempting to make their fan base grow. They are from the Cincinnati, Ohio area, and play local shows constantly in the Cincinnati - Covington, KY area. Most close minded music listeners would listen to two seconds of them and dismiss them as typical emo, as the younger generations these days have come to say about things that they instantly dislike, but I assure there is more than meets the eye (mainly because unlike most bands these guys actually have a good understanding of music theory, and being that the singer/guitarist was a choir boy for a good amount of time). If you're a casual music listener you should have no trouble getting into them, however if you're a very hard to impress person when it comes to music you may have an even easier time, due to the catchy guitar riffs, and superb ear pleasing solos.
Luckily if anyone is curious they have a music myspace ( www.myspace.com/leonidasmusic ), I recommend listening to "Spellbound" first, it has an amazing solo that starts towards the middle of the song. Also if anyone that lives in or around the Cincinnati area, and would like to see them perform live, they will be performing at Annie's down in Cincinnati this Friday, July 26th with another local band Triad ( http://myspace.com/triadcincinnati ). Here's a link to the ticketmaster site if anyone wants to buy a ticket, just click under Triad http://www.ticketmaster.com/venue/180460. That is all.
