Superman Returns Less Than 400 Mill WW....And It Won't Break Even

I think crossing 400 mil worldwide won't be a problem

There is literally no marketting in the UK. I've just bought Empire magazine with the 3d Cover of Superman, but that's all I've seen so far.

Disappointed.

I doubt it will make as much PROFIT as spiderman and x men

As much as Spiderman is very difficult (IMO impossible), but XMEN profit IMO is a lock.

Not to worry. There's big money in the merchandising end. What with all the licensing for games, clothing, figures, etc. plus the move to dvd and cable it should make the money back and then some--unless it's really, really bad and I can't see that happening.

It ****ING sucks that this film isn't released worldwide on the same day, you hear me!!!! F-U-C-K-I-N-G MEGA SUCKS!!!! Yet X(lamo)3 had a wordwide release, I couldn't care less for that BS movie!...oh, and in case you're wondering, YES, I'm pretty upset!:(

I think its absolutely crazy too! They're just asking for pirating.

Ironic. 2 "pirates" could cause trouble for this film

I think the quality of film that SR is will win out over POTC. I say this after having read the novel; It is brillant! Just wait SR will be HUGE!

If films like Mrs. Doubtfire, The Bodyguard, Home Alone, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith ( ) can do $400+ million worldwide, SR aint gonna have a problem. Lets be real here folks. If it *doesn't* do $400M W/W, I'll be ASTONISHED!!!

Will its final tally make it worthy of a sequel is a whole nutha question.

It WILL WILL WILL. :supes: :supes: :supes:

It can still make a sequel if the toys and stuff sell well!

You wha tho....Superman has been away from the Bigscreen quite a long long time now.

Talking to my co-workers about seeing it and everyone was kinda like - well Pirates is coming and and I'm taking my kids to see that one first.

Thier response is kinda sceptical about Supermans return to the bigsceen.

Kinda like........So you say Superman has returned now huh? Hmmm......

I read the novel to, just finished it acctually and it was good - Dam Good!

Quality story from begining to end.

I agree tho from the book, the action really didnt reach out and grab me.

But the story line did.

It was quality and substance all the way - full on.

I think once the words are out and a few people have been exposed to Supermans Return on the bigsceen

- Others are going to want to know if it is really true, to see for themselves.

Wish it were a same day World Wide release - Its unfair to measure opening $$$$ of a film that isnt a same day WW-release.

I will be happy, when they becomes wrong after SR will be making $300m domesticly :D

June 2006 Forecast

By Michael Bentley

1) Superman Returns

The Man of Steel is back. Gone are Margot Kidder, Gene Hackman, Sidney J. Furie (I guess Alan Smithee wasn't invented yet), and the late Christopher Reeve. Replacing them are Kate Bosworth, Kevin Spacey, Bryan Singer, and Brandon Routh (who?). Director Singer gambled and jumped ship from the lucrative X-Men franchise - something that many mutant fanboys are probably shaking their fists at right now - and took a chance on reviving what was once America's most beloved comic.

It is easy to wonder if the last Superman movie - the absolutely terrible Superman IV: The Quest for Peace - will haunt Superman Returns and scare people away from seeing it, as likely happened to some degree with Batman and Robin on last year's Batman Begins. I tend to suspect that the impact from the negative karma of Superman IV will be negligible. It has been nearly 20 years, compared to just eight for the Caped Crusader. There are a number of factors in its favor: the sizeable built-in audience of comic fans, people curious to see what Singer does with it, and of course it will have the long weekend prior to July 4th with little direct competition. However, though it probably won't matter much (except maybe in the long run) but I can't help but wondering if casting a complete unknown in the title role was a mistake.

Opening weekend prediction: $82 million + $53 million Wed-Thu.

450M Domestically.

550M Overseas.

1 Billion Worldwide.

Superman Returns will be the first movie to break 100M in 2 days.

That article seems pretty realistic to me Excel,i had SR at 150M for the 7 days

I loved Gladator, nice avy

I think SR really has enough chances to get $150-170m for 7 days :supes:

290 million domestically with a worldwide total of about 600 million should do it for the WB.

I want this film to make what Episode III made last year (380 million domestically) but it's going to be seriously tough with Pirates of the Carribbean coming out some 8 days later. It's going to be extremely tough.
