I don't usually like chatting/noise either, but I feel for some films it adds to the experience. Such as comedies and horror flicks.
The only time I want a packed theater is when it's a horror movie. and even then, I want it packed with more black or Latino people. If you've ever seen a scary movie with one or both groups of people, then you know how much it can intensify the experience....especially the commentary when the white girl running through the woods falls on her face haha. ATP and I saw Quarantine in a theater full of black people. Best night EVAR!
I went to see The Grudge by myself one time (the only movie I've ever watched by myself... don't ask me why). The whole row that decided to sit next to me was a bunch of black girls. So I was there, sitting between a bunch of black girls.
During the WHOLE movie... they kept grabbing me and screaming!
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH... he's gonna kill that lil Japanese girrruuuhlll!!!!"
"AAAAAAAAAAAA... oh NOOOOOOO... RUUUUN BUUFFFY!"
"oh, sorry, this movie is crazy!"
me, "it's ok"
It was surreal.
So i take the missus to see that new friday the 13th today (dont Bother your not missing much) only to have film ruined by people in the cinema left right and centre chatting, answering phones and texting.
Why go to the cinema if your not even gonna watch the movie? why pay to see a movie your not gonna even watch? What do these people not understand about the adverts that say 'turn off your phone'? Is their text message really that important?
I really needed to get this off my chest as i am sick of people talking in the cinema (not to mention a group of French people have a good old chin wag during Phantom of the Opera, not the film the show).
Are you one of those that feel its ok to chat during the movie because if you are you really get on my tit's.
My funniest moment was when I saw Halloween Resurrection (don't ask I'm a huge fan of Michael and saw it in theaters despite it's ******ness) and there was a black lady behind me who towards the end of the film got a little too into when Michael was chasing the final girl, the girl slipped in the blood of Tyra Banks and as she got up and hid Michael comes in the door. The black lady says (more like shouts) ''I hope he slip and fall in that **** too!". The few people in the audience died laughing at her.
Another lady in front of me saw Michael stab Busta Rhymes, obviously thinking him dead, stood up and said to her friend ''That it's they killed Busta, let's go!" and she left. I bet she was pissed when she found out he survived that movie.![]()
Some people are just like that, they just need to talk during the damn movie and ruin it for other folks.
You every have someone ask you what's going to happen next in a movie even though you're both seeing it for the first time? THAT's annoying.
I don't need a running commentary of what's going on in the movie.
I also don't like it when people have to explain to other people what's going on, and why so and so is doing something.
People have KILLED my desire for opening nights/weekend nights! Dark Knight?? FORGET IT! I went on Saturday morning at 10:00am...STILL a soldout show, mind you, but still. Much more stable crowd!
Don't get me started on people who bring their kids to a Rated R movie like after 9:00 pm.When I went to see Star Wars Episode II, some old guy was sitting right in front of us with his (I assume) granddaughter, and he kept explaining the whole movie to her: "that's a bad lady, she's trying to kill the princess".
If she's too young to understand without a running narration, she's too young to be in the theater in the first place.
