Ridley Scott; Technology Is Killing The Cinema

Not to mention the unbelievably large amount of carmmercials! I have almost walked out of a few movies, because there were so many damn commericals.

Can't be helped, theaters and studios need to make extra revenue considering theater attendance is rapidly declining....

I prefer to watch a new movie with a large crowd on a big screen. People that bootleg movies to watch silently on their computer screen...I can't get how that's fun.

Exactly!

example:
when Borat was released last year it was a movie that you HAD to see with a large crowd. Half of the fun of that movie was the crowd's reaction!

here's an idea...bring back ushers...you know, the guys with the flashlights who would stand in the theater and moniter movies as they went on...if you have an usher in every theater for every showing, piracy will drop, and you have someone to kick out the people on there phones, or with screaming children, and enjoyment of the cinema will come back up as well...

Depends on the chain-
Carmike theaters=Wayyyyyyy too many commercials and trailers
-Great Escape Theaters=No Commercials whatsoever, just trailers

i like an empty or near empty theater.....i'm there for the film...not for all the mouthbreathers and the idiots that bring their crying tax deductions along to see the movie

yeah transformers rocks on the big screen but at home you lose some of the experience .

that's more employees for the theater to pay.....nice idea..but not efficient anymore

Carmike is terrible...Century used to be great at it, just trailers, no commercials, until Cinemark bought them out, now they're almost as bad as Carmike.

if they had better revenue, they could hire more workers...plus, they would all be minimum wage, as there entire job would be to stand there and watch movies...hell, I'd do that for free.

Agreed. Plus, you have to know what days and times to pick. If you go to the movies on a Sunday afternoon you're definitly gonna run into screaming kids and people on cellphones. If you go to a midnight screening, for example, chances are that those people won't be there.

I only ever go to late night showings anymore...Hulk was ruined for me in the theaters by stupid little kids who, when the movie wasnt just Hulk smashing for two hours, proceeded to run around screaming the entire time, with there parents doing nothing about it...

I usually go on Tuesday (my day off) or the last showing during the week. Theaters want employees want to do more than just stand there, they aren't going to hire people to just stand around, regardless of what they are getting paid.

The only time I want an empty theatre is if I'm there with a girl and I want to do the deed. Other than that just being alone in a theatre or with a couple other people is a tad creepy to me.

I don't see how it's creepy...i'm there to watch the movie and i want as little noise as possible.

I've been to a few noon matinees in my day and, yea, its kinda weird. But...if the movie is great you get over it. And, yea, I agree with you that watching the movie with a crowd is awesome. Watching Borat with a large crowd made the movie 10x better.

Paris Hilton is not a porn star. She's a **** that made a movie. 3 movies constitutes porn stardom

didnt say anything about Paris...i find it funny when a porn star says they found Jesus and that porn is such an evil industry.....i don't see them giving all the money back though.
