When I went to see Star Wars Episode II, some old guy was sitting right in front of us with his (I assume) granddaughter, and he kept explaining the whole movie to her: "that's a bad lady, she's trying to kill the princess".

If she's too young to understand without a running narration, she's too young to be in the theater in the first place.

True that. Also that applies to your dumbass girlfriend or dumbass boyfriend. If they're too stupid to understand the plot of the movie on their own then don't take them to the movie.

^Exactly. That's what happened when I seen the re-release of TDK. All the guys had to explain every second of the plot to their girlfriends.Literally one line of dialogue would end and you'd here dozens and dozens of men quietly chatter to their girls translating it into woman speak. Seriously ****. They can understand the film. They're not Robert Downey Jr.

As for other shoddy movie experiences I remember when I seen Spider-Man 3 the theater was so loud and crowded with kids running around I honestly felt like I was watching a movie in the middle of a shopping mall on black friday. It was insanely annoying.

LOL My wife does that watching movies at home. She always asks me questions like, Who is that?, Why doesn't he just do this insted?, and it goes on. She does it mostly with movies I have seen in the theater with out her and she is just now watching on DVD. I just know I am going to have to see Watchmen by myself first or she will ask me too many questions about it for me to enjoy it. And yes I know she could read the graphic novel first but she will not do it. She thinks it if for kids and doesn't belive me that it is an adult story.

Next time she asks "Why didn't they do this instead?" just say "It's in the script." Usually shuts that question down by reminding them it's a movie, not real life.

Well to the original poster, you should have realized it'd be a bad movie going experience seeing Friday the 13th on opening weekend. That's the type of movie bound to attract dumbasses. I've never really had a bad experience with talkers, the only time was going to see Snakes on a Plane and it actually helped the movie. Everyone hissing and laughing at the corny dialouge, the infamous motherf'ing snakes line got a huge reaction. It was just what I wanted for that movie.

The only time I want a packed theater is when it's a horror movie. and even then, I want it packed with more black or Latino people. If you've ever seen a scary movie with one or both groups of people, then you know how much it can intensify the experience....especially the commentary when the white girl running through the woods falls on her face haha. ATP and I saw Quarantine in a theater full of black people. Best night EVAR!

I hate cell phones in theaters, but depending on the movie, commentary from the crowd really enhances the experience. It can even make a boring movie more enjoyable. I've always lived in an area with lots of loud black people in the movie theater when I go see a scary movie It's a heap of fun.

When it comes to kids, usually the parents are just dropping them off so they can have their little alone time, so they don't use it to watch the movie, they use it to just act ******ed while their parents ain't around.

Or demanding their money back because it's supposed to be one of those superhero flicks.

The kids working at these places don't give a ****, they'll give tickets to anyone. One theatre near me has a rule where no children under 12 are allowed at R rated movies after 9pm, regardless of being with a guardian.

With movies like TDK it is best to attend the opening midnight screening. Experience have taught me that it is the best crowd because everyone is there to watch the movie.

People who talk and text during movies aren't really there for the movie. They just wanna hang out with their friends.

This puts me in a quandary. There are other places to "hang out"..the movies aren't one of them

I disagree....too many people packed in there...I've gotten spoiled by going to afternoon showing in the middle of the week with like 20 - 30 people in the theater....it's like watching my own big TV

I like going to see movies with geeks because for the most part they know to shut up and enjoy the movie even on opening night.

Worse than that, anyone who brings a baby to any movie. What baby is going to be quiet during a loud movie? I understand you need to get away from the house occasionally. But guess what, you're a parent now, it's not about you anymore. If the kid's too young for a babysitter, that's why they have grandparents. And if they're not available, then suck it up. You're the parent. Go to the movie the next night when someone is around to watch your kid.

I'll even extend this to bringing kids who are 5 and under. Can't tell you how many times parents have brought their little kids to non-G movies just to have them scream or yell that it's too scary. Again, if you want to see an adult movie, that's what babysitters and grandparents/family are for.

So i take the missus to see that new friday the 13th today (dont Bother your not missing much) only to have film ruined by people in the cinema left right and centre chatting, answering phones and texting.

Why go to the cinema if your not even gonna watch the movie? why pay to see a movie your not gonna even watch? What do these people not understand about the adverts that say 'turn off your phone'? Is their text message really that important?

I really needed to get this off my chest as i am sick of people talking in the cinema (not to mention a group of French people have a good old chin wag during Phantom of the Opera, not the film the show).

Are you one of those that feel its ok to chat during the movie because if you are you really get on my tit's.

My girlfriend and I went to see the same movie on Saturday.. It was the first movie we have been to on Saturday night in over a year and the first movie we have gone to in almost three months.

We had to sit very close to the screen... which didn't bother us too much. Then these stupid little kids(who couldn't have been older than 12!) Came and sat by us.. No biggie... Until they started cursing saying **** MAN. I can't wait to see some ****ing ******* man.. **** **** **** **** ****...
on and on and on.. At first I was just like SHHH.. but then I got pissed and I said SHUT UP really loud. So they moved and sat a couple rows ahead of us... and STILL wouldn't shut up.

I don't understand who would let their child see a movie like that.. For that matter. WHO raises their kid so badly that they are cursing like that at that age?? I know I live in Louisiana and it's just full of racial stereotypes(white and black trash alike) but seriously, every time I go to the movies those stereotypes are upheld.. It's gotten ridiculous.

they talk and make calls or whatever becuase for kids or people like that its there only time there away from parents or authority figures to have the privacy to...sometimes they go for just that reason and not to watch a movie.


its not right cause thats not what a movie theater is for but look at the movie your going to see, and that can be said for childrens films..

iv had it happen a few times but it was becuase people were smoking up in the theater and they had no idea they were talking out loud and laughing and give or take 15 minutes they were to stoned to comprhend mouth movements any longer.

Hahahaha my roomate fist fought a guy outside of Batman Begins because the guy was talking to his toolbox friends throughout the whole film. They exchanged brief words in the theatre and then outside, my roomate (total Irish musclead Boston native) confronted him. The guy mouthed off again, calling my roomies bluff to look cool in front his Pink Polo wearing buddies. My roomate ripped his a$$hole in half.
