They should. Because it's an embarrassment and we'd like Mark as Lex.

Considering that Mark Strong just began a show on AMC, he may be too busy to do MOS2.

Sure is.

Also, since Cranston and Strong are apparently in consideration for Lex, I hope that another prominent TV actor is as well: Damian Lewis. He's be absolutely perfect. The right age, the right look, great acting chops... he's even a natural redhead AND also shaved his head for Homeland. I hope WB is at least considering him.

Glad to see someone else going to bat for Damian. He's been my number 1 choice for quite some time. I've been busy with work and didn't realize he shaved his head for Homeland... Oh man, it is all coming together.

If were talking tv actors for Lex, then I'm still pushing for Michael C. Hall. He would be a fantastic choice.

:nods: Red haired and beardy or bald. Fit and smug. Angry, confident, creepy, lovable, intelligent, homicidal. Lex Luthor.

So many great possibilities. Cranston, Strong, Lewis, Hall. I'd be ecstatic if any of those guys landed the role.

I don't really want to see Mark Strong as Lex. To me whenever you see Mark Strong in a movie you instantly know he is the villain whereas Lex should be someone who can be loved by the public and only Batman and Superman can see through his facade. I really like the idea of Bryan Cranston since he can be menacing and terrifying but can also be charming and subtle. However I also really like Jon Hamm because he played Lex in an online comedy sketch and despite the fact it was for comedy he nailed the mannerisms of what I expect the character to act like. And Mark Strong is a good actor, but not on the level of Cranston or even Hamm. Also I don't really want a gangster Lex which is the impressions I always get from Strong's voice.

Here's the thing: Walter White, from what I can gather, is a working-class guy who's learned to adapt to the tough criminal world and not be intimidated, which would make for an excellent Gordon..

Yeah, no. The show wants to make you think that's what his character is, just a guy becoming more used to the criminal world, but at this point in season 5 it's pretty clear his character arc is about a man uncovering the fact that he is pure evil.

In my version of how things should go down, Lex is Superman's friend throughout damn near the entire movie, until it's revealed at the end that he masterminded the whole "thing" to place himself in the white house(there's an election going on). I like Elba for the part myself, I think he can play both sides of the coin. Strong can probably play both sides, but he just wouldn't be convincing to me as the "friend" Lex. Basically this person needs to be able to play Obama throughout the movie, and then be able to flip a switch to where he's now playing Michael Corleone.

I would definitely push for Hall it would be great to see his career keep boosting off after Dexter.

He was that way earlier in the show, sure, but at this point, he's THE villain. Pretty much straight-up evil.

I'd be thrilled with either Cranston or Strong in this role, but Strong was my pick for the role years ago, and he still fits my vision of the character better.

That is my issue with Strong as well. I know a lot of his performances are quite nuanced, but he just exudes Italian mobster for some reason. I fear he doesn't have the WASPy, "All-American" quality that I would like Lex to have. I feel like Damon, McConaughey, DiCaprio, Lewis, or Cranston would be better choices that way. With Band of Brothers and Homeland, Lewis has really got the All-American hero vibe down pat.

He played a maniacal genius in the movie "Gamer" with Gerard Butler and the performance was a tad cheesy.

He's great in Dexter though.

Strong didn't have much of a "Italian Mobster" vibe in Sherlock Holmes, or GL, or Robin Hood. Heck, even in Kick Ass, he came across as a weird mix of a mobster, comedian, and kung fu master.

IMO, anything less than a really big name will be a disappointment. Thats not saying a lesser known actor couldnt pull it off, he could, but after seeing the likes of crowe, costner, freeman, Caine, and lane in the previous batman and Mos films, folks are expecting that huge name for Lex.
He needs to be the kinda actor that commands your attention and has a presence onscreen, like a day-lewis, depp, or Hanks.
I think cranston fits that well. another I like is Isaacs.

For me, strong, while a really good actor, has played sooo many villains here lately already.

Exactly. Mark Strong is not a big enough name. I don't think he'll get it anyway. He's too on the nose.

another name I like, tom hardy.

I dunno, Bale, Cavill, Shannon and Hardy weren't exactly big names. They had strong pedigrees behind them but weren't name recognition actors like the folks you are thinking. Day-Lewis would never go near a movie like this and Depp has become so one-note in recent years. He never pushes himself as an actor any more. I really enjoy Cranston as an actor but he just looks too old for my taste. I want a younger Lex. Someone who looks early 40s at the oldest. Older than Superman, but still a relative contemporary. I'm bored of the middle aged Lex on film personally.

Furthermore, I really don't think this film will have the same big name casting draw as the Nolan Batfilms or MOS. Nolan has stated that he is standing back for this one and MOS did not have the same critical acclaim as the Nolan films, which is attractive to big name actors when signing onboard. Snyder probably does not have the same casting pull now given MOS's critical reception and Nolan's non-involvement.

Tom Hardy doesn't do good American accents. He can do a decent southern accent. But Hardy is a mumbler, one of my favorite actors, but a mumbler nonetheless lol. His voice for Lex Luthor would pretty much be his "Warrior" voice, which doesn't fit in my mind.

Plus even though he was covered as Bane, it's still a big billion dollar franchise and he's a rising star. He'll always be remembered down the line as the man who played Bane for Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight ending. It's not going to happen. The studio, Hardy himself and Snyder will not go through with it.
