Now I'm sure the second PUNISHER movie will be a lot better than the first. Happened to read the draft this morning, and I can happily reveal there are no fake hydrants or skull-shaped parking lot explosions in the script. Aside from an awkward opening sequence that involves people being stabbed with lobsters, there are dozens of action sequences and most of them are damn bloody. Improvement #1: tons of deaths, this new Punisher is a mass murderer and doesn't toy with anyone.
Watch out for a great way of handling some escaping Parkour specialists.
Improvement #2? This time, the villains don't suck. The characters played by Doug Hutchinson and Dominic West are both very interesting, way better written than the Saints and pure scary lunatics.

Improvement #3: no "funny" scenes, no embarrassing friends or neighbors.

But it still won't be the major quality Punisher flick everyone hopes for. Story is too predictable, there is a boring cop character and the Punisher himself has about zero personality. Stevenson will easily do the action bits, but it'll be tough for him to act when he's not shooting, strangling or stabbing someone.

I don't care if they have over the top violence. Thats expected. The thing that worries me is if it ends up looking like some B rated action movie from the 80's that didn't make it to theaters. thats what worries me... and the cheesy guns... they keep sticking in what little mind I have left...

Pretty sure it was in one of the comics, but it sounds stupid nonetheless.

it'd be a funny scene if frank throws the lobster at a guy and it grabs on to his face and the guy runs around the room with it while screaming like a little girl... i doubt that's the approach that will be taken. as long as it's quick and violent it shouldn't come off too cheesy.

This or another negative comments to this movie looks like when Robert Downey Jr. casts as Iron Man. A lot of peoples hated him and thought his performance will suck. Now this people loved the movie and his performance.

I can't wait til the trailer silences the whiners, at least for a little while.

i would think that with the release date being pushed back, it's possible that they're holding off showing anything else until we get a little closer to the actual release.

it doesnt come out till december, itll be a while... maybe summer. if a teaser trailer rolls in w/hulk or IM itll be out around the teaser comes.

Don't get me wrong or anything, because I loved Shoot Em' Up, but I would never like to see a Punisher film modeled on Shoot Em' Up. That film's too cheesy.

I always invisioned the first Knights run as a combination of Analyze This (with a Robert Deniro ish narrative) plus Casino with the unexpected kills and gunplay like an old school John Woo film. Maybe I should get into film so i can write the reboot that will appear in 2015?

Most people keep throwing around John Woo's name with The Punisher, all the slow motion and what have you, I don't think it really fits. But to each his own.

One of the things I loved about the '04 movie was that they were going for a Sergio Leon/Sam Peckinpah feel, an urban western. And if Jane had stayed, it would have been awesome to throw in some Taxi Driver type grit in the sequel. That would be the ideal Punisher movie for me.
