Lexi Script - My Review

Yea this is where i will disagree with you. I actually had that movie in mind when i said i didn't want it to be outragious action/violence. I think this should be taken seriously and make it seem like this could actually happen, thats what separates a great movie from a popcorn flick. The Punisher is not an outlandish character, his methods are very real, and calculating, and (in the MAX series) not outlandish, and by outlandish i mean hooking up guns with strings in a wearhouse, or hitting a filing cabinate with a bullet and having it fly out and hit someone. The Punisher has the potential to be a great film if taken seriously.

i'd like to see this serious over outrageous, but from what we've heard it seems like it'll be more outrageous, which im fine with. its not what id prefer, but im still happy either way.

After 04 Punisher I could stand to see some over the top violence in this. It is the goddam Punisher afterall. Extreme/unorthodox methods of dispatching scumbags is one of the character's trademarks... i'm all for it.

There is a difference between unorthodox and unrealistic and corny. I am all for unorthodox, that being, lighting on fire, hanging intestines on a nearby tree, hacking someone up with an ax, stuff like that is great for a serious punisher film. **** like killing someone with a lobster, a fat man, a polar bear are all great stuff for a marvel knights comic or a regular marvel comic, but i want to see the punisher droped into a realistic world like he is in MAX, and have this movie have a feel that people can relate to and get invested into it. It is great to have a movie with over the top unrealistic **** like shoot em up for a few ****s and giggles, but i've been waiting for a punisher movie that can really do justice to his character and that can only be acheived, imo, by having it be very serious (some dark humor is never bad of course) and grounded in reality so its not a joke. If they take some elements from In The Beginning, where frank takes out that mafia b-day bash, the scene with the hooker where frank kills the pimp, his conversation with mirco and the fight with pitsy this would all make for a great movie that would include both great realist violence and action coupled with a great look into what makes frank tick.

I could see the Jigsaw line working if it is the result of Billy being at the end of his psychological rope.
Meaning that here was this powerful, good looking guy, but now he's hideously deformed and has a sort of mental breakdown because of it and screams out the Jigsaw line, maniacally embracing what is already out of his control.

That's my two cents without knowing anything.

Question about Pittsy : Does he go out with as much tenacity and ferocity as he did in the comics?
You said he isn't as vulgar, and thats a shame, but I really hope they have a very similar battle to what took place in MAX, that was truly epic and as HARDCORE as any fight I've seen in a comic.

btw, thanks for the review, its refreshing to hear something positive, yet balanced about this movie, as everything as of late feels negative and its sometimes hard not to get caught up in the feeling of that.

No matter how many variations of it I think of in my head, I still can't see it working. I'm a big fan of West's, so I am hoping he can salvage it with a good delivery, but even then I'm not too sure.

For some reason, I'm thinking that that fight was switched over to Loony Bin Jim. It's a weird feeling I have.

So long as that fight made it, I'd be amazed.
Yet it doesn't make much sense to me why she'd create a character if all he ends up being is an amalgamation of already existing characters.

What's so bad about "God's gonna sit this one out?"

The line is very telling, and hardly cheesy.

I think screen writing isn't her strongest suit.

To me the whole script was pretty bad in the 04 punisher. The only good part was the ending.

04 does have a few cheeseball lines in it. "God's gonna sit this one out" definitely isn't the worst line in the movie.

I think there's some great lines in 04 movie. "Good business, murder... Does Saint pay for each one or does he get a group rate discount." for example :p

Here are some good lines from The Punisher.

Guy: You know whose money this is? You know whose building this is?
Castle: Howard Saint's.
Guy: He's gonna **** your life up.
Castle: He already ****ed my life up.

Castle: Howard Saint. HOWARD SAINT! You took everything from me
Saint: You killed my son!
Castle: Both of them.

Castle: Made you kill your best friend. Made you kill your wife. And now I've killed you.

I like:

"Read your newspaper every day, you'll understand."
"What section?"
"Obituaries."

I think the worst line has to go to:

"Good memories can save your life."

....umm, ok...what?

"Good memories can save your life" isn't a brilliant line, but it's not a bad one. It does have a deeper meaning to it.

I can't think of any of the truly cheesy lines, off the top of my head. Maybe some of Mickey's.

Castle: Howard Saint's.
Guy: He's gonna **** your life up.
Castle: He already ****ed my life up.

and the "obituaries" line is classic, id give Punisher '04 a 9 out of 10 imho

Another great one is:

"I'm fine."
*looks at Russian's dead body*
"He's not."
*collapses*

I'm might get **** for this, but I liked the scene after the fight where Dave says Frank looks weak, and then Frank grabs his arm and he painfully says "Appearances aren't everything."

I always thought that line was kind of awkward. I always thought he should've said "Appearances can be decieving" or something.

I love the part in 04 when he rises out from the elevator in the floor and looks like frankenstein....so f'ing stupid
