I just realized... (yeah, ok so it took me 3 years)... that Liam Neeson didn't do alot of promotion for this movie...

No press junkets or interviews. In fact, I only see him talking about the movie on the DVD and i think he made the world premiere.

Any reason for his lack of presence? - He was very good in the movie and it must have been an interesting role for him.

Maybe he just didn't want to. Neeson is a very low-key man in real life.

no one did much really

Yep. Katie Holmes was pretty much the only one who did any promotion on any of the late-night talk shows (she did Letterman, and not surprisingly, ended up talking more about her relationship with Tom Cruise than Batman). I was kind of confused by that.

Bale did a lot of stuff on the early morning shows -- like Good Morning America -- but that's about it in terms of mainstream, easily recognizable promotion. I kind of hope we see the likes of Bale, Gyllenhaal, Eckhart, and so forth on Leno, Letterman, Conan. I mean, Batman Begins was spoofed on Conan but we didn't even get an appearance by Bale.

Sadly enough, I'm sure -- likeliest of all the actors in the movie -- that Heath Ledger probably would have appeared on Leno, Letterman, Conan, et al. It's a real shame he's gone, for many reasons. He would have been an enormous asset to the marketing of the film.

I'm sure Eckhart will do alot of talk shows...

Yeah. No one really did anything. This just further proves my theory that comic book movies are becoming more fan-centric. The true fans have been following the development of TDK for 2, if not 3, years; whereas the general public is more or less just now finding out about it.

I'm sure there were a number of reasons he didn't do a whole lot of press.
1. Quite a bit of the cast is English-Christian Bale, Liam Neeson, Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine, Rutger Hauer etc. They probably live in England. As does Nolan.

2. As already stated, Neeson is fairly low key.

3. Even though he played the big bad, he really wasn't in a whole lot of the movie. A little at the beginning and for about the last 4th of the movie.

That being sad, Heath probably would have done quite a bit. As for Eckhart... I'd like to see him show up on a talk show in character. Talk about his values, his attempts to clean up Gotham City... that'd be sweet. Gyllenhaal(sp?) probably won't do much.

It the same for all types of movies that are released. The general public aren't bothered without teases and pictures like we are.

If your gonna overload them with info about a movie...then it had better be out within a week or so - otherwise they just don't care.

However i do think the Dark Knight has been seeping into the publics mind for about a year now... we just have to wait for WB's onslaught.

That's ridiculous. Why should Aaron Eckhart show up in character? Talk about fanboy dreaming!

Why? Because it would be f***ing awesome! To have Harvey Dent on a late night show would rule! It would have to be done before the movie release to avoid any Two-Face issues, but you can't say it wouldn't be interesting. Or even just have a IBiHD ad somewhere during the course of the show. I'm just saying it'd be fun to watch. Ridiculous? Hell yes! But fun never the less.

All so true, and awfully depressing. I can't stand walking into a theater and listening to conversations between non-movie-goers and/or Bat-fans asking questions that are horribly stupid. Before, during, and after the movie. It seems people don't know how to properly educate their friends before a movie. After BB, some dude looked over to his friend and said, "What was with that card?"

In my head I was screaming, JOKER! Kind of a big deal! Pretty much everyone knows who he is! What's worse, is when I went to Ep. III, the guy sitting next to me decided to bring his girlfriend along, even though she hadn't ever seen any Star Wars material before. Question after question the entire time... it sucked.

Back on topic here, I think it was smart of WB to play the first TV spots a while ago. It'll get non fans wondering and possibly ask their more knowledgeable friends. That should give them ample time to get the full story and get at least half as excited as most of us on the boards. And I agree w/ you about the seepage(weird) and the onslaught. I think WB should continue to release tv spots and such, and in the 2 weeks before the release, just DESTROY the public with hype. Make sure they know what they're in for.
