So what do you guys think of this situation? ive never been a big fan of Lieberman and Im sorta hoping he goes. What about you guys?
lazur said:Lieberman is one of the last old school, moderate democrats. If he goes, so does the "people's party". The democratic party is quickly becoming a fringe left party. And if dems plan to win elections, that's probably not a good thing. IMO of course.
What the Democratic Party has become is a disgrace if you ask me.kane9321 said:lieberman..you were a disgrace to the democratic party, the state of Connecticut has spoken get the f outta here you sorry sack of crap.He was a republican trapped in a democrats body.It wasnt just the war in iraq that made him lose, it was almost everything he stood for..Oh man this is a great day for the democrats

Matt said:If by old school you mean a dixiecrat I agree. Lieberman's views on censorship, equality, education, and foreign policy are so conservative its not even funny. The man is hardly a democrat. I am sure the GOP are quite happy that he lost and will be running as an independent. The split in the democrat vote will guaruntee them the election in Connecticut.

No, Lieberman is acutally quite conservative in many issues. He would be more classified as a moderate Republican than an actual Democrat if you ask melazur said:BS, the only thing Lieberman differs in opinion on with the rest of the dems is the war in Iraq. Even Clinton backs him publicly.
No, they are making a huge mistake because like Matt said, this is going to split the Democratic vote. And while yes people are viewing the Democratic leadership as extremely left that is out of touch with the views of the American people (Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, Charles Schumer, Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, etc), the same can be said for the Republican leadership as extremely right that is also out of touch with the views of the American people (George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Bill Frist, Tom DeLay, etc.).The dems are making a HUGE mistake by alienating him and others who are considered 'moderate' democrats. But hey, it's fine by me in the long run. It just means that more and more people will view the democratic party as becoming extremely left - no longer just 'leaning' left, but veering close to the edge - and will either vote independent or republican.
Not true again. In some areas, they are strongholds for certain parties. Anything that is not that party tends to get screwed over (New York)Remember, the MODERATES are who decide the victors in elections.

sinewave said:i bet the lieberman supporters on the right, like lazur for instance, feel the same about someone like chuck hagel as those of us on the left do about lieberman.
Matt said:Lazur has openly criticized Arlen Specter on numerous occassions.
jaguarr said:I've noticed that the Republican extremists that have been declaring this a giant victory have been suspiciously quiet about the Tom DeLay situation.
