Life in Prison (Without the Possibility of Parole) or the Death Penalty?

If you were guilty of a crime (it doesn't matter what the crime was) and you had the choice between life in prison (without the possibility of parole) or the death penalty, which would you choose?

Life. You can still accomplish something in prison.

The death penalty. I would hope for a short wait on death row; I'm too pretty for prison.

But is this prison an American prison or one from another country?

If it was a Canadian prison with reasonable conditions, I would choose life instead of death. Not that I would ever want to, but I could see myself making the best out of that situation; I could do a lot of reading, maybe even some writing.

I'm assuming we are talking about America here so I would choose death. I've done plenty of time in jail but I hear prison is actually much better. Still I would just want to get it over with. The only exception I would have about that is maybe if I had a rich friend or family member who kept tons of money on my account and sent me tons of books. Then maybe I could deal with the lifer option

The fact is, most of us here who will die of natural causes will likely do so in some kind of institutional setting regardless, the way the world works right now, so growing old and dying in prison doesn't have the same fear factor as it once did.

If it was a prison in Norway I'd pick life.
But If it was a prison in Mexico.. well..
American prisons are a toss up..
