Sorry Bella, but rapist, murderers and pervs are not precious but a waste of life
I agree with you there, Morg. I think our deeds (misdeed) helps determine the value of our life. If those who commit heinous crimes are sentenced to death, I think they deserve what they get for wasting their life away and for taking what's not theirs, ie. the life of others.

as for my life I don't, I care for other people lives more then my own
So your reason to continue living will be to better the lives of others?

I would die before I saw my brother go through pain.
How will your death save your brother from pain? You mean if he's in a life threatening situation and the end of your life means he can continue with his?

To expect to go through life without experiencing pain and unhappiness is being very unrealistic. We do not live in a fairy tale world. O wait... even in fairy tales there's pain and unhappiness. It's part of the package we call LIFE. And to be human. Only robots won't feel or experience pain and unhappiness. Life is like a roller coaster ride; there'll be ups and downs and bumps along the way.

You rang...? :cwink:

Oftentimes in this existence we identify as life, it is the journey and not the destination that gives our being credence. Too often people put emphasis on the end result, and while that is important, it is the actual trials and tribulations that define our existence, and hitherto, our life.

It is important to live with a definining dignity and eloquence. While we may adhere to the social norms that are presented, it is equally if not more important, "to thine own self be true..."

I'd like to know what do you think the value of your Life is and why do you put such a value to your Life. What are the criterias for your appraisal?

Thank you for your time.

~Bella

I value my life on the basis of experience, and since I have much yet to experience I feel therefore I must continue living.

that's about it.
as far as one life being more precious than the other, Meh, it's intangible.
there's no criteria that one could assign that wouldn't be subjective.

Sure Bella, I'm always helping others. I'm a big softly in that department :yay:

What manual did you lift those wise words from, Roboto San? ;)

I've heard people saying that what's the point of Life when we're all going to end up dead anyway? But like you said, I think the emphasis should be put on the journey and not the destination. How we live our life defines who we are and I think that either appreciates or depreciates the value of our Life.

Btw, what does it feel like to feel nothing? Oops... dumb question. :p

I really have accomplished little in my existence, and yet I am always striving to do better and help others.

This defines me to a degree. While I am not a success, I feel I am striving to become successful on many levels, and that is what gives me a personal sense of validation to my existence.

That is how I feel about my Life.

You know how we often hear this:
"Life is precious". Is it really? (Anyone who posts here and say this is an "emo" thread, I'm gonna kick your arse!! ) Are all human life equal? Or is the value of one Life greater than another? Who puts value in our Life? Society or us, as individuals?

I'd like to know what do you think the value of your Life is and why do you put such a value to your Life. What are the criterias for your appraisal?

Life can be priceless but its all up to how people percieve their own life. Sometimes life is worth for than others.

I am a robot. Do what I say. I am a washing machine. Do what I say.

We've talked about this and I see where you're coming from. But maybe Morg meant the taking of 'innocent' lives?

Yes, especially those that kill innocent people for whatever moronic reason

It's an emo thread in disguise :csad:

Just joking Bella.

But seriously, I know I'm unique (unless there is a hidden evil twin brother I have or something), so I voted "I'm Priceless."

(Damn cat is in my way.)

Emo is so overused I don't know what it means anymore. :(
*Kicks frannie's behind* :p

Good choice.

I wouldn't go about appraising my life until I was an old fogey, and I think most people shouldn't, either.

But it would be interesting if I did have an evil twin brother.

Sometimes, something happen in your life where you feel like you are at a crossroad where, I think, makes appraising it necessary.

I've heard people say, when their facing a very tough time, that life is not worth living and that their life has no value, hence my question. I also wonder what makes people who take their own life do what they did. Is it because they do not value their own life for whatever reason(s)?

I think from time to time it's good to give your life an appraisal. It keeps you going and help you make improvements where necessary. But that's just me.

My life is wooorthless. :word: In my eyes anyway. Can't speak for people I know. Mayhaps they would buy me. Or adopt me like they do animals from the Humane Society.

What makes you feel that your life is worthless? And do you intend on doing anything to increase its value. I think if there are people in your life who love you and care about you, that is worth something.

My life would be worth whatever I would be 100% willing to sacrifice it for, so. Whenever that happens, hoowah. lol.

Might sound a bit callous here but to me, caring and love is chump change. :o

I see what you're saying. With regards to 'caring and love' being 'chump change', every penny counts when you have practically nothing. Not much but worth something.

Life is what you make it. I believe that each human being is precious, but that value of your life is the mark you make on the world.
