Live-action Cowboy Bebop coming to the big screen courtesy of....

My cousin Ferdinando would be better for the part. And he's been dead for 12 years!

i do like the james franco idea he would be great also get christina ricci for Faye

I'm so sick I want to vomit.

COWBOY BEBOP is in the hands of 20th Century Fox.

Keanu Reeves is playing Spike.

My heart is broken.

This is the same reason I am highly against a Cowboy Bebop/Metal Gear Solid/Watchmen movie.

It seems a bit full circle since the main influences of Cowboy Bebop are from the Western film industry and culture and lends itself as a tribute with cinematic techiniques used in the animation to add a unique flair rather than rely on the stanard anime style. It then goes on to become part of the western (pop) culture and is made into a movie by Hollywood. The same can be said about Metal Gear Solid and Watchmen. Stupid and sad.

Keanu Reeves is 45 and he's playing Spike. That's a joke.

I blindly have faith in this because the show's creators are involved. But it's all about the execution.

I just hope that Fox doesn't come in and destroy this found partnership that they now have with Bebop's creators. I don't know if Fox has changed or not in the course of the year; have they learned their mistakes? It's really hard to tell.

Well if they are really considering Firing Rothman and if they really came to a settlement with WB....maybe

I think Warner Bros can be stupid and stuborn. But at the same time, when the filmmakers have a good chemistry with them, then there's magic. For example, look at the relationship between them and Chris Nolan, Martin Scorsese, and Clint Eastwood.

And it looks like Zach Synder and even the likes of McG are cool with WB. So when they want to be, Warner Bros can be kickass.

However, Fox is the complete opposite. They only have working relationships with James Cameron and..Laz Burrman. I'm not discrediting them, but that's it (and they make a movie every 10 years or so).

Fox tends to be cheap, hire cheap unproven directors, and looks out for the bottom dollar instead of quality.

The fact they are bringing the original japanese team bodes well. It will all depend of the director they will hire and I hope FOX learned a lot in 2008 with all the mistakes they did. It could be a new start for them after the disaster the last year was. The rest of the cast will be important too, I can't see who could play Jet. And Faye is another important point.

Keanu will be a good Spike, he has that flair, the atittude, the look. It was an easy cast. To say the truth, Keanu Reeves can play a character under 30. I already saw the man in person and he looks even younger than on screen. It is almost scary when you think he is almost 45 and has the same face and is even leaner than he was in Point Break.

I am fine with this. You want looks, Keanu has that same lanky, not quite there expression that Spike has, so I'll wait...as far as Faye, she NEEDS to be Ricci. I don't know about Jet yet.

I'm looking forward to this. My only complaint being of course, I wish it was at a different studio. Other than that, bring it on.

Fans should stop complaining. If the show creators are involved that means they are fine with Keanu as Spike.

Take that show creators don't care about you people complaining about race.

:o

Its still Fox running the show.

If FOX manages to get a really good director, someone with a vision, fresh and not willing to scratch the movie, there is still hope for the studio. I mean, they had a CRAP year in 2008, they would not want to repeat the mistakes.

Well, Keanu is Spike. It is done and the anime producers are fine with him. Now I am thinking: Jet? Faye? Ed? And who could play VICIOUS!

with your comment here and Chun Li, I suppose I should applaud your optimism and maybe lack of information on Fox's movie tactics.

I too hope that Fox will let the creators do their thing with Cowboy Bebop. But Fox's track record is so damn sketchy (I'm talking 20th FOX not Searchlight mind you)

The fact that it is developed over at Fox and Keanu Reeve is playing Spike makes me lose all interest in this live-action adaptation of the anime series. This will become another Dragonball Evolution, unfortunately.

I honestly don't know how I feel about Keanu as Spike. I can kinda see him pulling it off, but at the same time, I can't. Then again, I don't think I would be completely satisfied with ANY actor as Spike. There isn't one actor who I could pick and say that he's perfect for the part.

On another note, I recently read a few articles about Keanu Reeves saying that the movie's story is going to focus on the anime's first episode, "Asteroid Blues." If that's true, then we probably won't be seeing a Faye Valentine in the movie, since she doesn't appear until the third episode of the series ...
