Sorry guys, I know you don't like it, but the girls have the right to enjoy the pretty things God gave us! :woot:

You're kidding right? Keanu is one of the least attractive actors in hollywood.

^Im a guy but come on...he isn't one of the least attractive actors in hollywood...I can honestly think of a myraid of actors who look much much worse.

However I do think Keanu Reeves sucks as an actor. I would rather see someone else have a chance at it and plus....hes getting a little old :o

Least attractive? Well, it will depends of your taste. For me he is great looking. And a nice actor, people should give him a break, he has great movies and many good work out there to be so bashed the way he is. The problem with Keanu is that he isn't an easygoing person, he doesn't like the media, he doesn't kiss their asses, so they picky on him. But he is a great professional and having seen many of his movies I have no doubts he will pull it off.

What no one is discussing is WHO will direct this baby. This is the most important point, who will direct Bebop.

Give the Wachowskis a decent budget and let them play with it

No, dont let the Wachowskis play with anything. If anyone needs the type of producer who holds back the director they do.

Why that's...a strange statement.

I'm not a chick, but I can tell that Keanu is a handsome man. I think maybe he looked better during his Bill and Ted/Speed days but whatever.

I think that his appeal is limited because of his persona/acting chops. I think that's why girls don't go gaga over him like they do with Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt.

(Most) girls don't care if a dude they think is hot has talent.

Hey! I care! Don't generalize. I like Keanu, not only because of his looks. He has talent, I like his style and the movies he choses and is a different type of celebrity, he has a persona that might not appeal to the general public but is very interesting. And a lot of people have preconceived ideas about him that doesn't have anything to do with the reality at all.

BTW, producer Erwin Stoff talked about the projet to IF Magazine. They might start filming next year.

Exclusive News: PRODUCER ERWIN STOFF GIVES iF THE SCOOP ABOUT THE 'COWBOY BEEBOP' REMAKE -- IT WON'T BE AN ORIGIN MOVIE!

LOCATION: Space

THE SKINNY: Last summer, iF Magazine broke the news that the classic Anime series COWBOY BEEBOP was in development as a live-action feature film.

Now, iF has some more exclusive information from producer Erwin Stoff after last week's official announcement of the movie getting and greenlight and Keanu Reeves being cast as intergalactic bounty hunter Spike Spiegel.

“The truth of the matter of is, I’m not going to know anything else until there’s a script,” Stoff tells iF, “but we’d like to make it next year.”

Peter Craig is on board to pen the script, and Stoff is quick to note that the story will pick up with Spiegel already in action.

“It’s not an origin story,” says Stoff. “We start with him, when he is in his present life already.”

Many of the key people involved in the Anime series, including the series director and writer Shinichirô Watanabe. Most importantly, Stoff says, Watanabe will be involved every step of the way, since he will be an associate producer on the film alongside the Anime series’ producer Kenji Uchida and show writer Keiko Nobumoto.

“First of all, we’re honoring the series,” says Stoff. “I don’t know how many people can say this, but the first thing we did was go over and meet with Watanabe. We started there. He will be the first guy to read a script when it’s done. We’ll discuss directors with him. As far as the cast goes, I can’t tell you who is going to play what, but I can’t imagine that we’re not going to have a totally multi-ethnic cast.”

girls in general care. well, the girls that i've dated.

Nope. If a girl (or guy) is physically attracted to some stranger on the street, it's not like they somehow know how "talented" that person is.

The only talent we care about when we see someone hot is how well they can do the deed. :o

On topic, so I guess now it makes sense seeing as how this is a continuation of the show that Keanu doesn't have to look like a youngster.

it gives me hope that Fox is actually trying to make this into a good movie.

I will give you an example: Johnny Depp does nothing for me. I think he is a handsome guy but I always see Edward Scissorsomething in all his performances. Same for Brad Pitt (bland as one can be). I could go on and on. IMO the actor needs to have "something" more. Keanu has it , and many others who aren't considered "beauties".

But, talking about Bebop, yes, the fact that they went after the original team and Watanabe, bodes well. When Keanu decided to adapt A Scanner Darkly they tried to keep it as faithfull as possible and the movie was really great (although not popular or 'easy' to understand). So, I am positive about this project more than ever.

Im calling ******** on that. Depp has had plenty of roles that have nothing to do with Edward Scissorhands in the least not to mention portraying both Hunter S Thompson and Ed Wood in the most uncanny way possible.

I am very surprised to hear that Keanu has "it" whater that is. Cause he really has little of anything. He may have got Scanner Darkly off the ground and made sure it was faithful, but that only makes him a good producer, not an actor.

Sorry. But I don't trust Fox or Erwin Stoff for a second.

Tastes man, whatever. When I say "Scissorsomething" it is because I always get that "forced weird" element in most of his works (as you probably see Keanu's same blank face in all his works). I don't see what everyone seems to see in him (you are right about Hunter Thompson, but for me, it stops there). Joaquin Phoenix, Viggo Mortensen, Aaron Eckhart, plenty of others are better actors IMO and doesn't get half of the praise Depp gets for playing the same thing over and over again. And say what you say about Keanu, when he gets something right, it blows away. He isn't "Oscar material" and he knows that, he doesn't make films with that "gimme an award plea". He likes to entertain and does that very well. A Scanner Darkly was a faithfull adaptation and a project he fought for all along. And he gave a good and understated performance in it.

Im not saying Depps the best in the world but he has plenty of roles where he didnt force weirdness. Thats not opinion. Hes played the straightman before. Whether you liked it or not is opinion, but hes certainly got characters that arnt weird. Its like you saw 5 films from Depp and damned all his others as being weird without watching them. While with Reeves you are taking probably his best performances which are few and letting them raise his worst which are many. Frankly I dont care how faithful in adaptation or how hard he fought for Scanner Darkly. Its something to be respected but has nothing to do with talent. If he felt the same way about Cowboy Bebop he'd settle on producer and fight tooth and nail to find someone who could portray Spike, not just fall into the role himself.

We will have to agree in disagree Killer. I watched plenty of movies with Depp, enough to sustain my 'opinion'. And enough of Reeves' movies too. And in some Reeves isn't only bad, he is terrible! He is uneven and that's a mystery how he can be so good in some works and blow it completely in others, or be great in one scene and just look as if he wanted to get out of the set and get some sleep right away in other. As for Scanner Darkly, that is a work that shows he has talent, he was good in that role, as in some others people never heard about. Watching a movie with Reeves is always that, you don't know what might get out of it.

Well, he loves Cowboy Bebop, so that is a plus, he will not want to ***** on it. At same time he needs a good director, someone who doesn't allow him to have those moments where he just goes spacey and "out there" while in the middle of a scene... :woot:

if MissHades does not fancy Depp or Pitt, then well..that's it.

Then again, I was a little bothered that some here don't like the raw awesome power of Bill Hader, so I'm a hypocrite.

I'd do Hader before I'd consider reeves.
