Live-action Dragonball movie

i always imagined goku har to look like liu kangs in reality...

and with todays make-up like the fish guy in hell boy.. picholo shouldnt be any kind of problem.

I´d say Vegeta, Napa, and Raditz since they would probably be easier to do

yup exactly.. and if its successful.. 2&3 should be the frieza saga..filmed back to back like pirates2&3:yay:

I'd like a take on Dead Zone, myself. I get nostalgic since that was my intro to DBZ back on my fifth grade years.

I'd love to see the film, and there is no way that things can be crammed without it being called not loyal or not faithful to the manga. Dragon Ball is just too hard to adapt to the big screen, and anyone who says otherwise doesn't know their Dragon Ball mythos.

On the positive side, I would still accept it because it is called an adaptation, and some people don't know what the definition of adaptation is, even if they change Vegeta's appearance, absence of Raditz, no King Kai training, Frieza being the mastermind behind the whole story, etc. From a filmmakers standpoint as opposed to a fanboy (which I am), there is just no way to adapt the manga 100% faithfully. It's impossible.

Hopefully, there will be a Dragon Ball film in the near future.

I think the film makers/writers should get creative and adapt the manga so that in movie 1, we get Frieza, In movie 2, we get Cell, and in movie 3, we get Buu. :D

i agree with you 100%. there is just nooo way that we should wait until the sequel for SS. it has to be in the first movie. it has to be in hte final fight. son goku wins the final fight and is the SS.

then in the sequel we should see teh SS2.

forget about DB. they souhld make a movie about DBZ :cwink:

my opinion.

Don´t think DB is that popular in the states to make three movies

If anything, it should start out with the Saiyan Saga. I want to see the remaining human cast & Piccolo be able to do something before they become utterly useless, and it once again becomes a Saiyan only club.

has anyone noticed that in matrix 3 neo makes the kame-hame-ha pose?

Luckily I forgot most of that movie.

With DB and DBZ, Dragon Ball is what it is really called as the manga [Volumes 1-42, which is essentially from the dubbed series called "Dragon Ball" (Which was about young Goku) to "Dragon Ball Z" (what we all know starting from Raditz)]

I do agree about SSJ in the first movie, btw.

If the first is successful, then they will make it a franchise with 3 movies.
Besides, Dragon Ball may not be as popular as Star Wars, but I am sure that it has it's fans. I just don't expect this thing to make anywhere near the Pirates numbers, but it's amazing what a good trailer and CGI can do. Sleeper hits are a wonder.

I definitely agree about the part about it not becoming a Saiyans only club.
I've said/explained this many times in the Anime forum.

i watched every episode from DB,7 and gt at least 3 times.
but i think that it would not be smart to have 50% of the movie from DB. a smart writter and director can make a script woth 5-10 minutes of DB and then lets go in DB Z.

and obviously they would need to power down teh SS. what happened at the end of DBz and GT was not normal.
the same with SR. i think singer made superman to strong. how can you top that in hte sequel?
raimi made a to good action sequence in SP2. thats why there was no way he could top it. its almost impossible to top the train scene in any spiderman movie.

no i think SS should be the ultimate climax....

i always felt after SS it went downhill from there.... and the sayajins just became gods while characters like picolo were narating the story.
there is just too much in the frieza saga for just one movie..let alone adding raditz vegeta and napa in the first too!...thats just terrible. Cell was a bit far fetched(but still very compelling)... and Buu was just the bottom of the hill for me. lol

Dang, well I meant we shouldn't have to include young Goku. I was just clarifying that Dragon Ball is manga volumes 1-42.

this is proof a DBZ movie would leave many grumpy because THEIR story wasnt told as they'd liked..lol

then again some would accept it.

My only gripe is that the studio/writers are probably going to want the 3 main villains in 3 movies. None of the movies will be true adaptations, and it's impossible for them be. There will seriously not be one movie fully adapting every single thing in the Saiyan saga, let alone making 6 movies to try to cover everything in Dragon Ball. Clearly not going to happen, IMO.

With the SSJ thing, I definitely agree, but as compensation, maybe Piccolo, Tien, Krillin, and the others should be powered up more. Now that I think about it, maybe SSJ isn't a good idea, but it would more than likely happen due to it being widely known/famous. The bad thing about films like this is that the huge cast is just so hard to adapt. We'll get X3 all over again.

i know what you mean. but to be honest i look at teh Db like on the TF. make teh utlimate action movie.

make a fun action movie with lots of fights. they would get their money back.

i jsut want some matrix fights :cmad:

But Dragon Ball fans would be pissed if the idea of a non-faithful adaptation isn't accepted.

You can have that without putting a Super Saiyan in the first Movie. Start the whole thing off with Nappa and Radditz, the people will be amazed by the stuff they are able to do. Then in a Sequel top it off with the Super Saiyan and show them that everything in the first Movie was kids play compared to that.
