I have a feeling that before the decade is out, we will see a Power Rangers reboot film based on the Mighty Morphin era. Much like the last decade had an emphasis on '80s nostalgia, the 2010s are all about '90s nostalgia (3D theatrical re-releases of films like Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, The Phantom Menace and Jurassic Park, the return of Nicktoons and Beavis and Butthead, etc.) so a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reboot seems inevitable. It really was the Transformers of the '90s.

I remember hearing a few years back that Nintendo is VERY protective of Legend of Zelda and doesn't want to give movie rights away because of what happened with the Super Mario movie.
Who would blame them? That movie alone set back serious video game adaptations by at least a decade.

It's hard to imagine a Power Rangers movie targeted at teens and young adults.

I'm not a fan but I'd love to see Hollywood attempt such a thing for better or worse.

Any book readers in the house? Personally, what I'd love to see would be a dark(er) and (more) mature adaptation of Animorphs (though I much prefer this Cracked article). The main issue would be that given the amount of stuff that happens over the course of the books, the movie would have to change/remove a lot of elements in order for it to make sense; even as a trilogy/quadrology/etc. Oh, and the (non-)ending would need to change in order to work for Hollywood.

Holly fried beans, how I agree with you.

But are there any blond teens who can suit Link?

Jamie Bell is Link for me...

I'd like to see a Zelda film based loosely around Ocarina of Time as I think the dynamic of Hyrule changing around him and so forth would be cool. Time is running out but at the moment, IMO, Jamie Bell is still the right age, perhaps with a little make up, to play a younger Link (18-20) and then an older Link (25-27).

Mark Strong or Dwayne Johnson for Ganondorf
Alfonso Cuaron or Edgar Wright for director.

A Mask film is long overdue (probably because of the Carrey film).

Question: How will the colours fit a serious Power Rangers? "Biker suits" that are pink, red and yellow may be too bright

In my idea for a reboot (posted back on page 1 or 2) I always saw the suits more as "armour" (not plated or hard but offering some protection), made of the "energy" that powers the Power Coins, that would wrap itself around the Rangers and encase them in the suit/armour when they Morph... similar to how Thor's suit materialises towards the end in Thor I guess.

The colours would represent a kind energy/trait.. Each one of the rangers would represent one of these traits ie.. Red - strength/leadership, green - rage etc..

They could keep the designs from MMPR but just make them somewhat darker or with different material such as whatever they made Superman's costume with in Man of Steel to make them look more like a "harder" substance/fabric rather than how the stretchy fabric material looked in the show.

In all fairness I thought the suits looked great in the first MMPR film..

Please, don't go there. I beg you, on my knees
Link isn't a 20-something adult, he's a teenager. And considering that a film won't come out during the next couple of years, I suggest Nathan Gamble for the role.

What about pink? It can't be made more dark/muted without coming off as some sort of purple/magenta.

It's too bad that Disney refuses to do anything with this particular franchise. I doubt we'll ever see a live action adaptation in our lifetimes.

I think for it to happen it will take someone big and who makes money like Nolan, Abrams, Spielberg (Im not saying I want those guys there just examples) to come in with a vision. Otherwise yeah I cant see Disney moving forward with it on their own accord.

I see it as a combination of: The Avengers (in terms of tone and the idea of an arguing team of egos teaming up) + The Raid (how the fights should be filmed) + Pacific Rim (robots vs monsters)

And I know that the Transformers films get a mixed response to say the least, but I like the role the government plays in the film and I wouldnt mind if Power Rangers gets the same treatment and uses the government

re power ranger suits: darker armor that indicates rank in a larger army. Or preference for a martial arts style.

Nah I dont think that's necessary or that that red/pink/etc. would be too bright. They were actually alright in the previous film for what they were/the budget.

I think the costumes should either be like this:

^^^which is actually just the classic costume but a bit more robotic armor-ish. I think that looks cool.

or

this:

^^^which is the classic costume with an alien twist which i think could work because of the alien influence on the rangers.

But that one was campy. We're talking about a more serious adaption here :)

so? I think the colors are fine. If really necessary yeah make them a few shades darker or change the lighting, but i dont think it's necessary

In parts, the first film was campy. At the same time, it was fairly dark in some places. I liked the tengu warriors and travelling to that planet to get ninja training.

I voted Voltron.I can't believe it hasn't been done yet.

He-Man was my favorite of the ones listed.I'd be down with a well done adaptation.

I also liked Thundarr,so that would be cool.Don't care much about the others.

^was'nt zach efron and the rock attached to johnny quest

Yep, that project still lingers in development hell. It won't see the light of day. After The Lone Ranger failed, nobody has time for pulp heroes.

Yep. Because of Super Mario Bros., Nintendo will more than likely never let their games be adapted again. That movie came out ages ago and they are still adamant against it. I can't blame them really.

The movie was so bad it killed the director's careers. Though it was also their fault the movie was bad because they believed they could tell a better story than the one in the game so they ignored it and made the mockery that we got.

Why not Pokemon? I been wondering that for 15 years or so. Turtles got three films during its heydays, Pokemon none.
Maybe the cgi weren't developped enough by that time? But now it's possible!

There were at least three or four theatrically released Pokemon movies. Granted, they were all animated.

I would love to see 'TaleSpin' made into a film. Now they don't have to use 'The Jungle Book' characters, so it'll be a spiritual reboot of the series using humans instead.

The Magic Schoolbus: Starring Jessica Chastain as Ms. Frizzle and the bus voiced by Danny Devito or Will Smith.
